*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

I’m referring to when the actual assault took place, not recently.
Me too. I got the impression from articles that Beach suggested pretty strongly everyone knew at the time. Again, maybe I misunderstood, but that's what I took away from it.

Golden Knights break out another odd jersey.  White with gold numbers.  Look like the new Orleans saints on ice..

I didn’t read the article, but I don’t think they would have had much pull at that stage of their careers.

Are you joking?  Toews had just won a gold medal at the Vancouver Olympics and Babcock responded that, "Anyone playing with Toews," was the best Canadian player. Kane had 88points and was top-10 in the league in scoring.

Been to a couple Kraken game so far. This Tanev dude is great. Fast as hell, makes stuff happen. Fan favorite for sure.

Awesome arena.

That’s talent, but not what I was referring to. He wasn’t going to be able to walk into the owner’s office and order them around, the chain of command still went above his head.

Metropolitan division is stupid.  Every team has a winning record, Carolina is perfect, Washington hasn't lost in regulation yet, and Philly only has one regulation loss.

Rangers probably have deserved to win 1 or 2 games, but have only lost twice and Shesterkin is the truth.  He's simply great.  I know a lot of Rangers fans have hated the Kreider and Trouba contracts, but where would this team be without these two is beyond me.  Sure, Fox is better than Trouba and Panarin better than Kreider and Kakko and Laffy have higher upsides but these two guys are always pretty damn solid.  I know Kreider is my favorite current Ranger, and he has never seemed to live up to the hype from the time he was brought up but he's still pretty damn good.

So no consequences for the players? For their role during, after and continuing now? That seems more than a bit unfair.

It's not a right to play in the NHL. Owners and teams need to ask themselves if people actually matter. When will it ever be enough to hold them accountable?

Kaepernick was banned for life in essence for saying black people should be treated equally.

But these guys can look the other way while it happens, say nothing and outright lie for a decade and then now say how there are good people on both sides.

It should be unacceptable. And owners have demonstrated over and over again that all they care about is money. Above all else. No matter the human toll.

Maybe it's time for something to be done to show that that's unacceptable. Fans have more power than they realize.
Players never seem to face any consequences, such as nothing happening to the cheating Houston Astros players.

Weird stat: Tonight will be the Bruins' seventh game of the season. They have yet to play a team with a regulation loss at the time (the Flyers had a shootout loss in their opener).

this Covid protocol this year is wild.  maybe I’m misremembering but it didn’t seem nearly this bad last year without vaccines

There were rumors, but it's not like Kyle shared it directly with any of them. Not absolving anyone here but I don't think the players had any culpability at the time. Honestly, the only players that said something close to the right thing were DeBrincat and Murphy. Lost all respect for both Toews and Kane, they had the opportunity to come out with strong statements and both failed miserably.

Bettman totally Bettman'd his press conference yesterday. What an absolute tool.

Needs "more info" to commit to offering counseling to the high school kid that Aldrich was convicted of abusing and his family.

Doesn't think Sheldon Kennedy has anything to offer because he wasn't abused at the "NHL level".

Those were both slam dunks and you went all scumbag-lawyer.

Go #### yourself Gary. What a freaking weasel.

Things looking worse and worse in Chicago every day

@rwesthead: More details re genesis of Kyle Beach's lawsuit vs  Blackhawks.
His lawyer and team attorney first spoke about allegations Dec. 18, 2020.
On Jan. 11, 2021, CHI lawyer told Kyle's attorney that the team had already done investigation and had no interest in a settlement.

Since bettman won't do crap sue their ### for a $100m....i.e. his potential NHL earnings

Pending trade call, The @BuffaloSabres trade Jack Eichel and a 2023 3rd round pick, to the @GoldenKnights for Peyton Krebs, Alex Tuch, a 1st in 2022 and a 3rd in 2023.

Seems like a pretty bad deal for Buffalo. If Vegas turns it around the 2022 first won't we very high. I thought Buffalo wanted a kings ransom.

Looks like the 1st round pick is top 10 protected.

Eichel gets surgery, put on LTIR and comes back for the playoffs, ala Kucherov?

Krebs and Tuch are great pieces. It’s a loaded class and Vegas is struggling now.

i like it. Definitely better than I expected given his injury.

I guess the Olympics are probably not going to happen for him though, which sucks.

Wild were offering Fiala, prospect, and two firsts at one point.  you would have had to get assurance Fiala would sign but if they were always going to take a roster player as a main piece they probably should have moved on that.  I can't remember some of the other offers, but they did pretty decent for the uncertainty with Eichel.  price obviously came down to get it done since it was always a 4 significant assets ask from the start.

Power, Krebs, Peterka, Quinn, Rosen, UPL, Cozens... lots of teams wishing they had something close to this to look forward to.

Tampa, often imitated, never duplicated.

That said, I am curious to see how he is when he comes back, assuming Vegas can get back into the playoffs.

Well I've never been accused of being a good judge of talent.

Thought they were asking for more

I'm sure they were, but I think teams were reluctant to part with players the Sabres wanted. Rangers said half their team was untouchable I think.

Krebs was a must get from Vegas, but I think Tuch is pretty underrated and on a great contract. He's a local kid so hope he sticks but could also be flipped at some point. The slow start for Vegas and their injuries also makes that 1st round pick more valuable right now than it would have been a few weeks ago.

If Krebs pans out, this is a deal they can live with given the uncertainty surrounding Eichel's injury, but I'm pretty sure Vegas will be thrilled in the end assuming they can sort out the cap. Not easy to get a #1 center and the neck surgery should hopefully get him back to 100%.

No idea how Vegas is going to get out of their cap trouble, and ffs half their team is hurt.  Even if Stone is close to returning, Karlsson just went down, Pacioretty is out, Eichel no sure thing to return even after surgery before January and then they have cap issues.

Disc replacement is more like 3 months I think.
rude, do you know if eichel’s back issue is lumbar or cervical?  just curious, my issue is cervical and i want to see how he progresses with the replacement.  i think peyton manning had a cervical fusion and he lost much strength.  i think buffalo did well here, they retained no money, got some pieces and cleared a guy needing spinal surgery, in a contact sport.
