*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

Ehhhhh I’m not sure they really are this year. Toronto is caving them in a lot. Vasy hasn’t looked like the guy we know from the last two playoffs either. Still can pull it out.
Pretty much what we've seen from them the last couple of months.

I picked them losing in the 2nd.

It’s fine if they go out. Last two years have been amazing, they are largely young and will be back in it next year I imagine. And then I can allocate those playoffs funds to a vacation.

What a pummeling the Blues just gave to the Wild in that 3rd period.  3-0 in the 3rd period, and it was not that close if you watched the game.  Blues are always better on the road under Berube in the playoffs, so let's see if they can close it out at home Thursday.

Well, if this is the end of the run, they had a great one. They have 2 chances left, so we’ll see what happens.

jfc what was that 3rd period.  for a team that has been just fine 5v5 and wants to keep it there they actually win the special teams battle in the first two periods then get absolutely worked in the 3rd at 5v5.

I blame Ellliott tbh

And there were some wondering if the Kings could even make the playoffs once Doughty was lost for the season.

Incredible.
The Kings are definitely a year or two early but this should be a nice foundation for the young guys moving forward.  The back end has played so much better than expected.  Durzi and Mikey Anderson are for real and Roy is a nice solid d-man.  The only thing they are really missing is some size and physicality.  They do seem to get run a bit and that will be a problem the deeper they go and into the future.

Schenn jump hit on Kaprizov?  Walz is all hyperbole and repetitiveness, and not very good in general.  why are you watching that feed?
Yeah, that was the hit. It was a penalty that went uncalled but he rambled about it for a while and kept hyperbolizing. I still like Wes ok and the Minnesota broadcast overall. Much better than the Blues. Those were my two options last night. Doubt ESPN would be much better anyway.

I am not sure what happened to your Wild at 5v5 but that was one of the best games I’ve seen the Blues play this season, considering the opponent. I felt confident we were going to tie the game and wasn’t surprised we got the go ahead in the 3rd. These are not feelings I am used to having the past couple of years.

What the #### is Edmonton doing? Down 3-2 to the Kings? Ouch
Kings have outplayed them 5v5.  It's the special teams that have kept the Oilers in the series.  They have as many SH goals as the Kings have power play goals as well as being over 50% on their own PP.  At this point the Kings should decline any penalties and hope to not be called for any.

They'll likely be without Nurse for game 6 too. Although that probably helps them.
They should have been without Kane last night (at least) after his attempted eye gouge and cross check to the head of a defenseless player in a scrum.

Good for the Kings. Maybe I am underestimating them. Or maybe Edmonton is squandering a golden opportunity to win a series with a gift matchup they didn’t deserve.

Why is it a gift matchup and how did they not deserve it?  I assume you mean because of the dumb "play in your division" first rather than just seeding 1 to 8 for the conference and doing it that way.

Yes and also the weak pacific that allowed the Kings to squeak in in the first place.

Nurse suspended for game 6.  Kassian fined $5k for his cheap cross check on Durzi.
It was a vicious head spear. I thought he may get multiple games but I guess since Danault has a hard head he only gets one.

Speaking of Phillip, watching him the previous 6 years would never have thought he would be a goal scorer. More than doubled his previous high this year The Habs really held him back.

I heard from someone who is very connected that there is talk to ban Russian NHL players if the war in Ukraine continues.  My jaw almost hit the floor.

And espn doesn't say a word. They showed replay about five times, and those morons just kept saying nice hit basically. Meanwhile both feet are about two feet off the ice as he launches into one of the best players in the league. No call. No nothing. That garbage is why I hate the NHL more with each passing day.

he left his feet in the first too, they don’t catch them all even if the one on Kaprizov was pretty obvious.  the only call/non call I had a problem with last night was on Middleton and of course they scored on the PP.  but overall the series has been called fine imo. only egregious one was the penalty shot on a non penalty in G1 and they didn’t score so whatever.  no goaler interference or offside shenanigans, very clean.

I was watching the Bally’s feed too, I just don’t even notice Walz going on and on anymore.  Carter is much better color imo.

To be fair, Leddy got boarded from behind earlier in the series, which knocked him out for a couple games, and there was barely a peep about it, so hits are coming from everywhere in this series.  It's a physical series.

Still not sure what Crosby injury is. If its concussion they are screwed because their top line has dominated the rangers the entire series
