And pretty much every other reporter is refuting that and saying Harvin to Bills is locked up.Aand now there are reports that the Niners are making a late play for Harvin.
There are going to be a lot of agents that are going to have a tough time finding teams to deal with them next season.
It's possible they address it in the draft, but it's also possible that they feel that they have one decent guard and one decent tackle out of Williams, Henderson, Richardson and Cyrus. It's very possible that those rookies develop and are startable. An NFL offseason and a new blocking scheme may make huge differences for the young guys.I agree the money would have been better spent on Barksdale, Wisniewski, or Blalock. RT or Guard are needs imo. Kouandjio may be moved to guard plus I think it's more likely they choose a Guard at pick 50.Yes. You're very perceptive. I'd still be happier in a hypothetical scenario if they signed a good OG rather than Harvin. The point being he's a rather superfluous signing. It's not either/or. They already chose to spend big on RB and pass on Iupati/Franklin/Boling. A 1yr Harvin deal has nothing to do w/ that.
Happier now?
I hope he does well with his new team. He was always a stand-up guy even though he never really got a fair shot in Buffalo.Spiller's deal is $18 million over four years with $9 million guaranteed and a $5 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Better be as this is more of a luxury signing compared to TE. If $4M guaranteed then incentives I'm ok. Anyone else wonder how great Captain Checkdown (T Edwards) woulda been with these guys?It is possible it's a lower number with incentives taking it to $6M. We'll see what the exact breakdown is.
At least Harvin and Watkins can get open quickly.$6 mil for Harvin. What? No QB, No O-line and lots of weapons.
Wow. That's pretty ugly.Well, Clay has to be out. $6M for Harvin. WAY too much IMO. Yuck.
Uhh... Ok. I won't be surprised.I think cassel could do some damage if the scheme is right. Don't be surprised if he has a probowl worthy season

My one concern here is that an offense that uses quick screens is the exact opposite of what Roman has been running. The power blocking scheme he uses for the running game isn't vet conducive to the screen game and quick passes. It's better suited for play action passes. So the question is whether Roman changes his offense, or Harvin, Watkins and McCoy never seen screen passes.I really like the Harvin signing. it's just a 1 year deal so it's not like they have married themselves into a potentially toxic player. Rex Ryan obviously has experience coaching him & knows what he's getting into with him. I have no doubt Ryan & the strong veteran core (FJax, Kyle, Mario & hopefully Spikes who played with him at Florida) can keep Harvin in line and focused.
There is no question he is super talented & should have a ton of motivation to keep his head on straight- he will be playing for a long term contract.
He adds a whole another dimension to this offense & I cannot wait to see what Roman has planned for him. Watkins, Woods, & Harvin is one scary set of WRs. I really want to see the screen game implemented with the players we have now. Watkins was a monster on them @ Clemson & Harvin can make a lot happen on them as well.
Harvin can turn a simple 2 yard pass into a 50 yard TD. He's a beast in the return game. He can run the ball & cause some damage on end arounds/reverses.
Watkins, McCoy, Harvin, Woods, FJax, & Goodwin gives this team the best collection of offensive talent in over a decade. All of these guys can make plays on short , high percentage passes that will be a mainstay with our QB situation.
This seems overly optimistic to me. Seattle has a much more stable environment than Buffalo, and they couldn't keep him in line and focused. Plus, he already had a long term deal with $42M left on it- if that wasn't enough motivation for him, I doubt this would be. You're also putting a ton of faith in a largely unproven coaching staff to properly utilize everyone. Everything might come together just right, but it's at least as likely to blow up in grand fashion.I really like the Harvin signing. it's just a 1 year deal so it's not like they have married themselves into a potentially toxic player. What was Roman's offense and what was Harbaugh's and how much of the 9rs offense was a mixture of the 2? I don't know, but it's hard to believe the "mature QB offense" that misfit Kaep last season will be in place for the Bills starting QB. More use of the RB and the short WR route passing game make sense even though, admittedly, that would be a departure from Roman's recent schemes. My one concern here is that an offense that uses quick screens is the exact opposite of what Roman has been running. And no way does Goodwin make this team. He's gone. WRs will be Watkins, Woods, Harvin and Hogan as the #4.
Yeah, those are the Million Dollar questions. If Roman can't/won't adapt to his personnel, then they likely fail. If he can't and will, they could have a lot of success. What was Roman's offense and what was Harbaugh's and how much of the 9rs offense was a mixture of the 2? Yep, with Easley manning the #5 emergency WR spot as the special teams ace. It's shame. Quite the opposite- it's worse because it's another potential powder keg in the locker room. Rex may not be concerned (not that it means much to begin with), but it's their teammates that have clashed with those two in the past.I think you all are forgetting that the Bills brought in a Mr. Richie Incognito. If Rex-quan-do thinks he can control a 300 pound OL, that was suspended for being such a bad teammate, I doubt he's concerned with Harvin.
Golden Tate was also the dude Harvin punched in the face. That was the major incident cited in Harvin being a problem in the locker room. Was Harvin the one who was rumored to be diddling Russel Wilson's wife? Or was that another disgruntled ex-Seahawk?
ETA - nevermind. Just remembered: that was Golden Tate.
My post tongue in cheek. In reality it could go either way. The powder keg option is likely but bringing in a bunch of guys that feel like they have something to prove could bring the team together.humpback said:Quite the opposite- it's worse because it's another potential powder keg in the locker room. Good. Bills have played this right. Buffalo made a ton of moves already and can afford to slow play this. Waiting for Clay hurts the Dolphins because they still have some moves to make and they can't until they know what money they have available and what to move around.Tim Graham @ByTimGraham
Knowledgable source tells me Dolphins have "lost patience" with and "moved on" from Charles Clay. At moment, Fins expect him to be a Bill.
Man I really want EJ to turn the corner.I sat down and watched some Harvin highlight videos tonight. Man does he have some elite skills. His acceleration and vision are fantastic. He does a pretty darn good job tracking the ball too. His balance isn't fantastic and of course there's the issue of durability. But man, if he can stay healthy, he, Watkins and McCoy could do some crazy stuff to defenses this year.
As someone who took a flyer on him in a dynasty trade this offseason, so do I. I am more expecting him to turn the corner and run into a wall like a drunk guy in a strange apparentment looking for the bathroom, though.Man I really want EJ to turn the corner.I sat down and watched some Harvin highlight videos tonight. Or they'll be all injured by week 4 because EJ leads them into the waiting maw of a middle linebacker. Catch. BOOM! Injured for 6 weeks.Man I really want EJ to turn the corner.I sat down and watched some Harvin highlight videos tonight. Man does he have some elite skills. His acceleration and vision are fantastic. That article attacks Rex a bit, which I think is unneeded. Of course all these QBs are going to be competing for the starting spot. None of them are good enough to outright take the job. I think the idea behind Taylor is, if they all suck at least he can run. Something is better than nothing I guess.
Me too. I'm not sure if they'll draft one or not, but I'd be perfectly happy to carry four for however long it takes to find a real starter. If the Bills draft a QB, do they take 4 into the season? Seems like a good idea to me at this point.
I seriously doubt the Bills draft a QBIf the Bills draft a QB, do they take 4 into the season? Seems like a good idea to me at this point.
No matter who starts, the offense is all set to pick up 4-6 yards every play with some YAC. Especially if they sign Clay. That article attacks Rex a bit, which I think is unneeded. So you hope he's Free Fallin'I think Petty is legit and could be very good depending on the system. If he's there at 50 I think I would want the Bills to pull the trigger.

Is that a reference to where he might be drafted or because he has the same last name as Tom? Because from what I've seen he's being projected all over the place. But that's also why I said "if" he's there. No one really knows where Petty or Hundley will go. Will be fun to watch. So you hope he's Free Fallin'I think Petty is legit and could be very good depending on the system. If he's there at 50 I think I would want the Bills to pull the trigger.
