Hopefully he can get Wood back to playing with some nastiness. Wood stunk this season.Oh boy, sounds like the Bills are not only bringing Richie Incognito for a visit and physical, but that it's pretty much a done deal already. Ugh.
Not really. They don't have many picks though.Any talk in Buffalo about Cousins/Mallet/etc. being acquired?
Kind of hard for the center to play well when he's got incompetents on both sides.Hopefully he can get Wood back to playing with some nastiness. Well, to be honest, he's a good leader and does a decent job making the line calls, but he's never been all that fantastic. He hasn't been awful for the most part, but he's never been a very good run blocker and larger DTs tend to manhandle him pretty routinely.Kind of hard for the center to play well when he's got incompetents on both sides.Hopefully he can get Wood back to playing with some nastiness. Is this the same Chris Palmer that...Chris Palmer named senior offensive assistant is the kiss of death for this O
And fired from tennessee. His Os hold most of the top ten sacks allowed records too, so the bills better have 3-4 QBs because they're going to take a beating

This. And this.I can't imagine Incognito is an expensive signing. Not like it would be hard to cut him if he gets out line.
Still not the kind of guy I want on my team, but that's the NFL for you.

Has it even been announced what his actual role is?
Trying to find anything good he's done is not easy. Kiss of death seems harsh if he's just an assistant.Chris Palmer named senior offensive assistant is the kiss of death for this O

If Incognito is the direct replacement for Pears, the Bills saved 1.2 million in cap space over last year.
Pears made 3.45 mil last year.

It all depends on the guaranteed money- Spotrac has a dash in there, not sure if that means there isn't any guaranteed or they just aren't sure what the details are yet.Feels like too much, considering the baggage.1 year 2.25 million, according to spotrac.I can't imagine Incognito is an expensive signing. I believe Incognito is a vested veteran so if he is on the roster for game one his salary is guaranteed. Hence they can dump him anytime until the season begins. If there is little to no guaranteed money, that means it's essentially a day to day contract and they can dump him at any time.

Seems like a contract that really protects the Bills. Smart.humpback said:True, for the salary portion.I just saw this. It looks like he got a $100K signing bonus (which is a bit surprising but not a ton of money), and more than half of his contract is payable in the form of per game roster and offensive snaps bonuses.msommer said:I believe Incognito is a vested veteran so if he is on the roster for game one his salary is guaranteed. All in all, not horrible- a gamble worth taking IMO as long as Rex is willing to ditch him right away if he acts up.
I'm all for second chances, but if you read this guy's rap sheet, this is like his eighth or ninth chance since Nebraska AND Oregon kicked him off their teams. He's been to anger management before. The guy is just rotten to the core and I highly doubt six weeks of therapy is going to band-aid the problem. Just saying. In comments he made to a reporter, Incognito said that he spent 6 weeks getting treatment at the McClean Institute in Boston. Some Googling indicates that they're primarily a mental health facility.
Here's hoping that, like Brandon Marshall, getting mental health treatment makes the difference for Incognito.

I bet he'll be clean as the bald guy with the rags...for a year. What I worry about is he plays great and convinces Whaley and Ryan to give him a contract extension. Because there's no way he doesn't explode again within a couple years. Then we'll be stuck with the albatross of dead money when we're forced to cut him.I agree.I'm all for second chances, but if you read this guy's rap sheet, this is like his eighth or ninth chance since Nebraska AND Oregon kicked him off their teams. That said, I'm holding out hope that he keeps his nose clean... I'll have no problem with the addition, if that is the case. One can hope, no?
No thanks. I'm not seeing the upside with him- he's going to be 36 this year and has one decent half-season to his name.No talk about bringing in McCown? I'm not seeing where a guy with more upside could show up.
I'd be fine with it. He was the #1 FA QB last year. I mean, you have to figure that they're going to bring in SOME veteran. I would think that McCown, Locker and Sanchez are the top 3 options.Gawain said:No talk about bringing in McCown? I'm not seeing where a guy with more upside could show up.
Cut. He's a CFL talent at best. How does everyone feel about Tuel?
Is he cuttable? If so, Glennon for a 6th, EJ and a FA? For the 3 QB spots?
Out of the 3 I listed, I probably like Locker the most. At least it seems like he could still have an upside. Does anyone really think someone like McCown or Sanchez could come in and be successful for several years? But it feels like there could still be a chance with Locker.McCown was really awful without Trestman. Pass.

Reportedly McCown was at the Sabers game with Roman last nightNo talk about bringing in McCown? I'm not seeing where a guy with more upside could show up.
Well, looks like the Bills decided not to take your advice. McCown is in town today and the Bills are trying to get a deal done. Hopefully the money is low enough that they can bring in another vet QB and setup a 3-way competition.McCown was really awful without Trestman. Pass.
That's kind of where my question was coming from. He was only a first rounder because your people made him one.McCown. Certainly not at the top of anyone's wishlist. At 35 his skills are fading, and it's questionable what's skills he had to begin with. One good year in Chicago throwing to giant receivers (Jeffrey, Marshall, Bennett). Size is the exact thing the Bills lack at WR/TE.
On the bright side, he can mentor EJ and can likely step in and be an adequate game manager should EJ stink it up. Should be a short-term deal which won't break the bank.
This says alot about the other options out there. They stink.
Sanchez - he sucked with Rex before. He looked ok under Chip last year but we have far more evidence that he's terrible.
Locker - maybe there's an ounce of potential left but how will he ever realize it. He can't stay healthy.
Mallett - the Pats wanted a 2nd for this guy a couple of years ago. They ended up moving him for a conditional 6th rounder. He's a never will be.
Hoyer - another game manager but younger and consequently will want more bling and a longer contract.
So it seems Buffalo's front office has decided the options above are not the answer. A logical conclusion.
EJ only has 14 starts and needs more before we give up on a 1st rounder. If he fails we look to the 2016 draft.
