2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (1 Viewer)

Blow the whole thing up guys... No one should be safe... Not Rex...the guy who traded Cassel... Watkins... Tyron Taylor.,, the Defense... Burn it to the ground and start over.

Nevermind. Everything east of Rochester has to watch it on the web.

Honestly? EFFE YOU NFL. This picture quality sucks and I have to watch it on my monitor?

Effe you and effe your stupid push into Europe.
You are probably lucky you can't watch it in HD...

Another frustrating game from the defense. Couldn't get a stop when it counted.
:bs:

They absolutely stopped the Jags. That was a horse crap PI penalty and everyone knows it. How anyone could pin this on the defense is beyond me. That loss was 90% on EJ Manuel, Lesean McCoy and Greg Roman.

I'm not at all pinning it on the defense. EJ Manuel and the rest of the offense/offensive coaches lost this game, despite all of Jacksonville's best efforts. But the defense had a shot to win it and couldn't get a stop against an offense that hadn't done a thing all half. The refs didn't give up that long TD throw.

Hard to believe they still had a chance, had the ball down 1 score at the end, after everything that happened. Time to just regroup and get healthy I guess...starting to feel like it's too late though.

Seems like a lot of people calling for Whaley's head right now too. Matt Cassel isn't good, but it's hard to see him being worse than EJ was for most of the game today.

Losing to the worst team in the league. Ugh. I'm calling for everyone's head.

that DPI on Robey was a joke.

defense played great imo
This isn't intended as a blame-the-refs thing, because the Bills didn't have to give up a long TD and then couldn't get out of their own way after getting the ball back, but this is the second week in a row when our defense got hit with a flat-out horrendously awful drive-extending call (Corey Graham's "unnecessary roughness" call on a perfectly textbook tackle being last week's edition).

I know nobody's really in the mood for this right, but I'm kind of giving everybody a pass at this point. We're missing our starting QB, our best WR, another "starting" WR (Aaron is right that Harvin's role isn't that clear cut), our backup RB, and at least one starting o-lineman. And our starting RB is still at least a little gimpy. And that's just the offense (the defense has some injuries too, but those are the kind that all teams have to deal with). I'm not prepared to rip on our staff too much considering what they have to work with out there.

While I completely understand the criticism of Whaley re EJ, the guy has built a pretty good roster overall. It's just we can't get that roster on the field in one piece.

We are the idiots, because we keep supporting a league that allows calls like that to happen.

Few calls made or break a game on their own, but it is no longer acceptable for me to put my emotional energy and dollars into a product that allows one team to have a significant advantage over the other.

No one....least of all the NFL cares... :bye:

Is Rex losing the locker room already? I mean, I wasn't anticipating him being a long-term Marv Levy legendary coach but I didn't expect to be asking this question after 7 games.

Yea, and mostly on the defensive side of the ball too. That was the last thing I expected.

If the QB is limited and can damage your team it's up to the OC and HC to limit what he's asked to do.
The Bills stopped throwing over the middle after the turnovers and started throwing pretty much exclusively to the sidelines, where Manuel/Woods/Hogan all seemed to flourish. I hate some of the playcalls - the rollout left on 4th and 1, the stupid Chris Gragg fade pattern, the too-cute wildcat where the ball was snapped directly into Robert Woods in motion - and don't think Greg Roman had his best game, but I didn't think it was his worst either. The team just really needs to get healthy at this point.

So we get 2 weeks to rest off the overseas trip.

Miami gets 10 days playing thisThursday night.

Even during the Bye week, our opponent gets extra rest.

Saw this floating around the internet today - EJ Manuel Blasted with Horrible Hate Tweets (possible NSFW - language)

Gotta say, overall. Pretty disheartening to see this stuff. We're all frustrated, but there's better ways to vent it than some of this.
I've never once thought to myself "I wish I spent more time on Twitter and Facebook." I know there's some good stuff out there in social media, but a lot of it seems like a cesspool.

While it's disgusting those things were "said" that writer is known to doctor up fake tweets for an article. The guy thinks he's deadspin.
If that's the case, then I apologize for posting it. I'd never heard of the site before today and saw it retweeted by someone I follow on Twitter.

All good. He also messages charity groups like Billsmafia and then doctors the messages and posts it to think he's uncovered charity fraud with all the different Bills groups. I think his name is James Krieger.

Well, Matt Cassel did his best to make Doug Whaley look not so bad for trading him.
Meh... How often does a QB with only a few weeks of practice do well?

Oh, and... Watching the Denver defense tonight really makes me wonder why the Bills' defense doesn't look like this. They did against the Colts, but not since. :kicksrock:

So the scoreboard went the Bills way yesterday. We didn't play, and some teams got/get to feel some injuries like the Bills have.

I'm still assuming at least three Bills players got hurt this weekend at various Halloween parties.

Went last week without WGR and it felt great. Put it on for two seconds this morning and Jeremy White is talking about the Jaguars game because he was off last week. I'll try Friday.

Miami will be without Wake (out for season) and their RT should be out Sunday.

Tyrod, Karlos should be a go.

McKelvin and Sammy?

I believe I saw the Bills open as a 3-point favorite.

Beat Miami get to 4-4 and let's see what happens!

So, as a former Bills DST holder, I'm selfishly curious whether the homers feel that defense is fixable? What's the issue right now? Injuries? Scheme? What?

I thought adding Rex Ryan to the talent on what was the number 1 DST for fantasy last year would've led to a behemoth of a DST... instead they've been waiver wire worthy.

Anyone want to offer some hope?

From a fantasy standpoint, I think turnovers are always difficult to predict. Last year the Bills ranked 3rd; this year they're currently in a 5-way tie for 14th. The special teams right now are awful, I wouldn't count on anything from them anytime soon.

The big disappointment is the pass rush. This is roughly the same defense that finished #2 in the NFL in sacks in 2013 and #1 in sacks in 2014. Now they're tied for 28th. The talent is there, but the production isn't. Maybe it's a matter of QBs knowing the key to beating the Bills is to get rid of the ball in 2 seconds. Maybe it's that the Bills aren't blitzing as much. No idea.

Has there been any news on Karlos? As a Bell owner who also owns McCoy and Karlos I may have to start both Bills RBs.

Sammy Watkins back at practice today... What do you guys expect from him?
He's got a chip on his shoulder and all the talent in the world. Obviously can't stay healthy. Tyrod and Watkins haven't both been healthy together for much of this year. It'll be interesting to see, Likely draws Revis next week if he plays. However the passing schedule opens up a bit late November/December run.

Haven't seen anything, I'd assume he's playing. I think he was close for the London game but issue's flying generally keep concussed players out.

As a bills fan, Do you see him staying involved as much as he was before he left. He performed while McCoy was limping along, then McCoy did pretty well when he left.

Assuming both are healthy, what do you think the backfield split looks like?

I think McCoy will end up getting 70 percent of the touches. Depends on game flow. McCoy wasn't healthy to start the year and was starting to slowly heat up over the last two games. He now had two weeks additional rest before this week's Miami game.

70% seems kind of high for a team with no decent backups. I do think he'll get the majority, but I think Carlos will get a couple drives, plus some situation snaps.
