2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (2 Viewers)

The Jets sacked Dalton 7 times in week 1 -- I don't think Tyrod is going to have enough time for anything tonight regardless of whether he's "regressed" or not.
Yet Dalton still threw for 350+ yards and got the win on the road. They have to make adjustments and show improvement this week on offense, no excuses.

As a Frog fan who doesn't know much about the Bills.  What are the chances that Listenbee gets significant snaps as the year moves on?  Not from a fantasy purpose really, just a fan of his at tcu.  He was always a great kid and the dude could burn.

He's currently on IR with no slated timetable to return that I've heard.

What are people's thoughts on McCoy tonight?

Im having a very hard time putting him in my lineups...but so tempted to do so.

Right now he is out behind Forte, Ware, and Lacy in one (standard)

And out behind Forte, Ware, and Cobb in PPR

####!!!

I don't post in here despite being a Bills fan. But ### ####! I'm tired of it! Lose because our offense is bad one week then lose because our defense is bad the next. #### the Bills. The coaches, the players, the fans, the owners, the media. All of it. We are worse than the Browns. I'm tired of it. Yes, it's only a game. But how much does this need to keep happening? The Redskins have a racist name, the 9ers won't stand up for their flag, the Rams moved back to LA yet the Bills haven't been to the playoffs in this millennium. Over a decade of missed playoffs (closing in two decades). Our glory years are losing 4 straight Super Bowls. Meanwhile, the Jets have Joe Namath, the Phins have the perfect team ('72), and the Pats have the Brady/Belichick dynasty. #### the Bills!

Okay. I had my vent. Now who replaces Rex (and Rob)? Do we need to switch out Roman?

I say keep Whaley. It's really hard to say he hasn't brought in talent.

If they dump the Ryan brothers, and I think they should, they need to promote from within for the season and make it an on-job audition.

I don't think Roman is that guy. He needs to concentrate on the offense. But who else is even a viable candidate?

BTW - why do they lose? Injury and suspension depleted D....and a porous O-line. JUST LIKE WE ALL SAID WOULD HAPPEN.

You would think that sometime over the past 17 seasons, this team would have been good once or twice just by blind luck.  It's really quite remarkable for a team to sustain such a degree of mediocrity.

Other than the Pegulas, burn the whole thing to the ground. Get rid of everyone. Everyone. And definitely Whaley. I've stuck up for him before, but all the suspensions and injury-prone guys has seriously damaged the team over his tenure. He's responsible for them and he's responsible for the Ryans. And for the love of God, get rid of Russ Brandon. I don't even know what he does now, but the stink has been around as long as he has. Clearly he's not helping the organization win. And if you're not helping the team win, you need to be gone.

I still don't understand why they hired Rex Ryan.  In 2014, they had a top 5 defense, but a below average offense, so offense is where you needed vast improvement...and you hire a defensive coach as the new head coach?    What's amazing is the offense got a lot better under him last year, but the defense has fallen big time.  I think Taylor is a good enough QB that he can lead them to the playoffs, but not with this coaching staff.

I used to think Rex Ryan was a really good def coordinator and a horrible head coach.  Now I'm not sure if he's even a good def coordinator anymore.

I still don't like blaming injuries.  Every team in the NFL has injuries every year.  It's the lack of depth that contributes to the failure.  Sammy is gimpy, and look at the guys who are replacing him.  Marquise Goodwin is made of glass.  Greg Salas has played for 6 teams in 7 years.  Shaq Lawson is hurt and Lorenzo Alexander, a career special teamer who had started something like 16 games in 10 years, is a starter.  I'm not saying that every team has great backups at every position, but the Bills backups just aren't good.  And all 3 of those guys actually had decent games last night (so maybe the injuries aren't as much a factor as they're made out to be?).

I had this discussion when walking out of the stadium last night with my buddy.  He made a comment to the effect of "I don't understand how this team is so bad, they have so many good pieces".  To which I responded "do they?  Maybe they don't."

Tyrod is proving to an average-at-best NFL QB.  McCoy and Watkins are still solid players.  The OL is trash.  Clay is a decent TE but isn't the lean athletic TE you see dominating the league (and he's overpaid).  They have nothing at WR other than Watkins.  The DL is trash outside of Dareus.  LBs are trash outside of Hughes (jury is out on Lawson and Ragland).  I'm okay with the secondary, but we saw what happens last night when they don't play well.  We always seem to have this affinity for the blue collar under-the-radar player who works his ### off and does the little things right, and you need those guys, but you know what else you need?  Actual good players around them.

Another year. Same ####### results. Change the coaches, change the players, none of it matters. Same ####### results.

Brandon handles the business side of things and has a very good record of regionalizing the fanbase. He is not responsible for the product on the field.

He's also the president of the Sabres and the Sabres' AHL affiliate Rochester Americans.  He is basically the guy who runs the entire Pegula Sports & Entertainment empire.  PSE has been slowly consolidating both the Bills and Sabres back-office operations over the past few years; my understanding is that the goal is to have both teams operating in 1 streamlined entity in the next few years.

I mean, here's PSE's website - Kim is President and CEO, Brandon is President and Managing Partner

Bills looked bad last night. They were lucky to get those 2 deep ball TD's on 3rd down and that fumble recovery for a TD. If you add in the garbage time TD, you can say they didnt do anything of substance last night. Their secondary was outmatched by Marshall, Decker and Onuwa, even the other Marshall kid was getting in the action. Forte ran all over them and they made Fitzy look like a pro bowl player.

I know fan is short for fanatic, but I'm amazed how people can be so optimistic going into every season. SSDS.

I think Fly nailed it on the previous page... Depleted D due to injuries/suspensions, and complete neglect of the OL in the draft.

You can't win if you can't convert third downs 3-7 yards.

Tyrod proved last year he couldn't make those throws. Quick slants and crossing routes.

Maybe he can't see the middle due to height.

Some long passes skew his stats.

Bills got played hard by his agent but at least they out in an escape clause. He will be gone at year end.

He will be gone at year end.
Very possible. Last night I started thinking about that... What if they manage to pull off a 2 or 3 win season? Maybe they could actually be in a position to grab an elite franchise QB with the first pick.

Then I realized what we should all expect... They'll start something like 1-8, and end up winning 6 of the last 7.

Better late than never to come around!

Seriously though, they're just not a very good organization from top to bottom. I know you (not just you, a lot of people) defended many of their moves, but most of them seemed like mistakes at the time to me and unfortunately it looks like they were. The latest "debate" was the Tyrod extension, which most on here seemed to love for some strange reason.

Buffalo Bills firing OC Greg Roman, per league sources. Roman was NFL's top paid OC.

Can confirm ESPN report the Bills are relieving OC Greg Roman of his duties. Chris Palmer expected to take over

Wow. Can't disagree with that move, but who's next up?

This same sort of move worked out for the Lions last year.
See above; probably posted that right as you were asking. - Chris Palmer? I have no idea who that is but maybe you guys do.

Fire REX!

Bring in Schwartz as the DC. (Won't happen but I want them too). Bring in Marc Tressman as the OC. (Won't happen).

Deshaun Watson and Deshone Kizer :banned:

So they get carved up by Fitz & they fire the OC? Whatever...
I may be in the minority, but I don't have as big of a problem with the defense last night. Fitz and the WRs played great last night. Bills stopped the run pretty well. They gave up some passes, but they just got burned by some big plays on big 3rd downs. That was the big difference.

Isn't Chris Palmer a one-time HC of the Browns?

If so, then yes, that sound you hear is me choking on my own disgust.

And a 3rd and 20(?) that they stopped the Jets on, in the opening drive but gave them a first on very weak PI.
