The Pegulas meet with the players all the time without Rex there. They want to know how their organization is being run from top to bottom. I have no problem with that.

In my opinion, it's a bad practice, but actually a good precedent to set. It's kind of a "Hey, we aren't the Lions ownership. We've got our eye on you."Why not, because you agree with the decision? It's a terrible precedent to set IMO.
I think your perspective might be a little jaded by Snyder's past. You should have a huge problem with this. Owners and players should not be meeting behind a HC's back and making decisions on any level.
Rex is a #####, but he's deep in the NFL coaching brotherhood. This could easily effect your next head coaching search, who wants to coach under owners like this if they have any other options?
Huh? Rex is the one that went to the Pegulas and said he wanted to fire Roman. It was his decision, not the players' or the Pegulas. The Pegulas meet with the players every week. After they met with the players and Rex came in and said he wanted to fire Roman, the Pegulas were likely on board since they already had an idea of how the players felt. You should have a huge problem with this. I'm not following- you say it's a good precedent to set, but if they keep doing it, it'll be very bad. Isn't that what a precedent is?In my opinion, it's a bad practice, but actually a good precedent to set. It's kind of a "Hey, we aren't the Lions ownership. We've got our eye on you."
But, like I said, if it happens again in the next few years and becomes kind of a Redskins, Cowboys type of ownership then yes, that would be very bad.
Did you miss the report this morning? That this decision was made without Rex and he was pissed but took "credit" in the media anyays? That's what we're talking aboutHuh? We might be having a semantic debate... It's not technically a precedent until it used as an example for future similar situations, right?I'm not following- you say it's a good precedent to set, but if they keep doing it, it'll be very bad. Isn't that what a precedent is?
I read it. I also read Sal Capaccio's incredibly detailed report about how it all went down as well as multiple tweets from other beat reporters that made it clear that it was Rex's decision and that there was no meeting behind Rex's back.Did you miss the report this morning? You realize that Whaley is responsible for Tyrod, Shady, Karlos, Clay, Sammy, Incognito, Miller, Mills, Hughes, Darby, Graham, right? The starters he inherited were Robert Woods, Cordy Glenn, Eric Wood, Kyle Williams, Marcel Dareus, Stephon Gilmore, Aaron Williams. As for Whaley, his drafts have been weak and risky and not paid off so I can see Whaley gone next. I would assume Rex stays at least one more year, since his players love him, unless they just crap out to finish the year with a record like 4-12 or worse. Sure he's a PITA and arrogant SOB often.
Agreed. It seems as though it was normal for the owners to meet with the players. Rex knew of the meeting taking place, so therefore nothing behind his back. The owners supported Rex's decision to fire Roman.I read it. I also read Sal Capaccio's incredibly detailed report about how it all went down as well as multiple tweets from other beat reporters that made it clear that it was Rex's decision and that there was no meeting behind Rex's back.
But I guess you didn't actually read any of those followup reports, because that's what I was talking about.
Wow.Nice deep thoughts here Billieve. I can agree with you on some points, but my main point is Whaley reached on a players and he did head the draft in 2016 and yes it's incomplete, but that's three drafts. The selection of Karlos Williams was defined as a reach pick and he had baggage. Bad pick. Whaley did pull the Watkins deal which many, including me, disagreed on the cost of a first rounder in 2015 for moving up to grab Watkins. Kouandjio actually looked good in this preseason but he hasn't done anything yet in regular season play. Miller is the weak link on the O-line. Preston Brown hasn't blossomed (yet) and wasn't expected to be a starter this year until Reggie tore his knee. These are all high picks and you'd think at least 50% of them should have been solid players. As for this draft, a lot of question marks regarding Shaq Lawson's health. Yes the team doctors felt he was good to go, but oops, wrong call. Whaley will get blamed there. Cardelle Jones? I don't see him being the future QB. I didn't like the Washington pick but he seems like a solid player. Ragland I loved, especially at that spot and it sucks that he is out. Bottom line his drafts from the last three years are bad. QB was a need going into the 2015 draft but with no #1 pick, no QB taken via a trade up or later on. The players that you mention via free agency and trades that Whaley brought in, umm and? The Taylor saga with Whaley saying he wants to see more from Taylor before he signs him to a long term deal, really didn't go that way, did it? Is he the answer for 2017? So far it doesn't look like it, does it? As for the other players you pointed out that Whaley brought in, Hughes, doesn't impress me when he jumps offside too often and or draws those stupid selfish undisciplined personal fouls. Yes he's easily the best pass rusher the Bills have but is the return on his investment worthy? Graham? What about him? he's a starter and maybe a good leader in the locker room but not on the field. he's brutal. And what about other players Whaley brought in that you didn't mention? Players like Chris Williams, who signed a 4 yr deal for good $ yet he played one year? Keith Rivers, signs a 2 yr deal for okay money but gone after 1 year? Traded for Bryce Brown? Cut after 1 year. Clay signed for big bucks, top 5??? TE money yet he's not earned his money (yet) A reach move for a necessary weakness position. I'm sure there's more but that's what I can think of off-hand.
I guess we agree to disagree and we'll find out in January who was right
Bob Woods my sneaky DraftKings play.Bills are officially Billsing again. Watkins likely to miss this week thanks to his foot being stepped on during their walkthrough Monday.![]()
Isn't he likely to be matched up against Patrick Peterson? With Peterson & Mathieu back there, I'm not optimistic of much passing production.Bob Woods my sneaky DraftKings play.
I think Peterson will follow Goodwin around for speed if Watkins sits. Mathieu will probably cover Woods underneath, but I still like Woods at his price point to get 6-60 with a potential garbage time score. The Vegas line in this one is weird.Isn't he likely to be matched up against Patrick Peterson? With Peterson & Mathieu back there, I'm not optimistic of much passing production.
Not interested in buying them, but my seasons are in 310. Are these your seasons? What row are you?I can't attend tomorrow.
I have 4 tickets in section 310 if anyone is interested at a low price
Any reasonable offer is fine, even a trade for Sabres tickets or something else.
Pm me.
Thx.
That's the most references to pegulas I've seen ever. 4:2 ratio. Pegulas!Huh? Rex is the one that went to the Pegulas and said he wanted to fire Roman. Row 19. It is my first year there. Not interested in buying them, but my seasons are in 310. Are these your seasons? What row are you?
Yup. If you own any Cards players at all, now is definitely the week to start them. The Bills are going to get destroyed.Darby out. Watkins out. 0-3 here we come!

Honestly, at this point, just shut down Watkins until his foot is 100%. I can understand rushing him back in the hopes of making the playoffs, but with that looking like a pipe dream yet again, might as well let him get back to 100% instead of risking anything longer term pointlessly.

Well not now obviously, but I understand why they rushed him back to start the season. There's always hope before the season starts. Amazing that it took a scant 2 weeks for reality to set in this year.![]()

Oh man, I'm laughing so hard I'm crying.
The Duff Man said:Row 19. It is my first year there.
I think the offense looked better than the previous games but didn't totally wow me. They still looked fairly inept at times trying to throw the ball. Run-blocking was great and McCoy had big holes for the most part. There were still times when they struggled to sustain drives. They had chances to put together backbreaking drives to put the Cardinals away and couldn't. When it clicked, it clicked, a couple big runs in a row and then a score, but it was never a drive more than like 3 minutes. So people who saw the game today, did the offense look as good as final score indicates? How much do you think this had to do with Roman's departure (i.e. better play calling)?
Thanks. I couldn't watch it because Fox Sports apparently thought Syracuse wanted to see the Giants instead.I think the offense looked better than the previous games but didn't totally wow me. Honestly, I thought the defense was more impressive. A handful of sacks, 4 INTs, a TD. 5 straight 3-and-outs to start the game and less than 100 yards in the first half against a very good offense. Hughes, penalty aside, is looking like one of the best pure pass-rushers in the NFL right now. I thought Aaron Williams had a great game....not sure if they commented on it on TV but they matched him up 1-on-1 with Fitzgerald in the slot for much of the day and he stepped up. Gilmore was left on an island for much of the game and I definitely can't complain about his performance. Kyle Williams was fighting off double-teams and got penetration repeatedly.
Exactly. Still cant utilize our weapons. How does the team continue to roster Reggie Bush? Also, how do you have no Watkins, no Salas, and yet still only target Charles Clay one time?
Pretty good synopsis... I have a hard time being too critical of the passing game when you have Watkins out, and Clay on the bench with an injury for much of the game. WR is not a position of depth, so those players out hurt a lot.I think the offense looked better than the previous games but didn't totally wow me. Agreed. Hopefully getting Sammy and Glenn back will help that a lot. Do we know when Glenn will be back? The run blocking was fantastic, but Taylor was still under pressure a bunch in the passing game. And he still isn't mature enough to settle down when the pressure isn't there. So after the early pressure on him, he was rushing throws and feeling pressure that wasn't there. That caused some major accuracy issues. The passing game was working the best when they went into the hurry up and went to quick timing routes.
Not sure. But Kouandjio hasn't been much of the problem. He's actually been pretty good filling in for Glenn. The pressure comes off the right side or center most often it seems to me.Agreed. Hopefully getting Sammy and Glenn back will help that a lot. Do we know when Glenn will be back?
Very true. But, would Glenn returning allow Kouandjio to take over for Mills? I know he had at least a couple bad plays today. Not sure. But Kouandjio hasn't been much of the problem. Kouandjio won't unseat Mills. Kouandjio does decent at LT but really struggles at RT. It's a big difference at the pro level and he hasn't been able to make the transition. Different hand that they punch with, etc. Henderson was above him on the DC last year. Now Mills.Very true. But, would Glenn returning allow Kouandjio to take over for Mills? You'reright... I got it backwards, despite actually pointing that out a few pages back.Kouandjio won't unseat Mills. Kouandjio does decent at LT but really struggles at RT. And Kouandjio at LT and Glenn at RT could be a better combination than what we have with Glenn at LT and Mills at RT. However, Glenn could struggle at RT. And it would be an incredible waste of talent to move Glenn to the right side. With so many teams that could use a LT, I'm surprised Whaley didn't ship Kouandjio off this off-season to a team who has a RT that isn't good enough to play LT. Win-win for both teams.You'reright... I got it backwards, despite actually pointing that out a few pages back.![]()
I believe Kouandjio's problems at RT stem from his knee issues... he has a harder time turning to his right in blocking schemes than his left, thus making him more dependable on the left side. I remember hearing this from one of the beat writers in the offseason. It sounded like a known issue for a while. Kouandjio can fill in on the right side in a pinch, but ends up with significantly more soreness/swelling than on the left side.Very true. But, would Glenn returning allow Kouandjio to take over for Mills? I know he had at least a couple bad plays today.
WGR in their morning show on Monday morning mentioned that according to some site (didn't exactly hear the name of the site as I was driving to work) said that Taylor threw the ball only three times over the middle, and once the play was nullified by a Bill's penalty. I'd think moving forward, that they will continue to avoid the middle on passing situationsI will say that the Bills threw the ball over the middle a number of times. Powell got separation on a number of slants, definitely a route that Watkins would've made some plays. The offense did have 3 clear drops, Woods / Powell / maybe Powell again? None were big plays but they were WRs letting Taylor down. They reverted back to week 1 style and stopped throwing the ball deep....the only difference is that they moved the ball on the ground with big plays this time, unlike the Ravens game.
Whaley was just on WGR, I'm a big fan he gets a lot of crap from the locals but most are pinning decisions that were Buddy Nix' picks. He's a great talent evaluator and makes bold moves. It's refreshing watching a GM make trade, win or lose. Some people like to trash Whaley, but he's again looking pretty smart for taking the middle ground on the Tyrod contract. Everyone and their grandmother wanted us to ink Tyrod to a YUGE deal last year after he put up good numbers, but Whaley was cautious and signed him to a team-friendly deal that wouldn't replicate the Fitz fiasco.
After these first three games...maybe his caution was warranted.
I still like Tyrod. But he has not looked like a franchise QB this season.
