Roethlisberger (for example) sure would have been worth two firsts and a second.I would hope this regime wouldn't be willing to trade a 1, 1, 2 for 7th overall and a 3rd.

Totally agree. That said, I just don't know that any of the top guys have that great a shot at becoming a franchise QB. That's why I'd rather go for Cousins for a few years, while they take their time finding that true franchise guy.Exactly. The draft is months away, and I'm already sick of hearing people bellyaching about how expensive it is to move up and what a big risk it is to deal a bunch of picks for a QB. This team has neglected the QB position for way too long, and it's all just been an exercise in excuse-making and risk-aversion. If we hit on that pick and get the right guy, he'll be a bargain no matter what we give up. This isn't like trading up from somebody like Sammy Watkins -- a franchise QB is pretty much priceless and is always worth the investment.
Not to mention, it's possible to find "franchise" QB's in the mid rounds. QB eval is so inexact.Totally agree. That said, I'm totally giving them the benefit of the doubt with whatever they do, and will let it play out.
Agreed. Obviously if you land a stud QB, it doesn't matter what you gave up to move up and get them, but some people seem to be ignoring the other side of the coin- if you give up 2 #1's and a #2 and the guy isn't a franchise QB, it's crushing.Totally agree. There was some issue with his completion % in college. And he's been woefully inaccurate at the Senior Bowl thus far.On the QB front, my sources are telling my that Josh Rosen is slated to be the best Jewish QB since Sid Luckman. I’d be ok with giving both our 1st rounders and next years 1st rounder if we could get him. For the rest of them, I’d just take whoever falls to the 20th pick (assuming the Bills don’t land a good Free Agent).
If it was for sure their guy, maybe I would be okay with it, depending on the guy. But I don't like the amount of pressure it creates on these guys. Often times the media will start to hammer the coaches and front office about questionable moves and it usually goes downhill from there. That crap gets old. At least have some optimism and give them the benefit of the doubt for a little while.Exactly. This makes more sense. Pay Cousins, fill out your team with those other picks. And if you build an all-around solid roster you're then able to make that gamble on a rookie QB without it devastating your team in the process.Agreed. Go hard after Cousins and/or Smith, use those draft picks to help plug the many other holes the team has, and they can be competitive for the next 5+ years. Putting all of their eggs in one of these rookie QBs is very risky.

So the exact type of player that the Bills like to trade up for? There was some issue with his completion % in college. And he's been woefully inaccurate at the Senior Bowl thus far.
Apparently the injured player has requested that they not announce it until the press conference Monday. So they are respecting his wishes.Very odd that they wouldn't just announce the details...
Totally.I really hope that he isn't paralyzed or something awful like that.
This sounds much better: https://twitter.com/ByTimGraham/status/956927083703406592Grigs Allmoon said:Totally.
Based on that second tweet from Schefter it sounds like it may have been a situation where a Dr. told him he needs to stop after an exam.
This is what I was hoping to hear. Good news for him and his family.Just in case anyone was wondering, Wood's retirement will come with about a $10M cap hit.
Apparently it was an issue the doctors found during his exit physical after the season ended. He got consults from multiple doctors and the end result is that they told him that he would not be cleared physically to ever play football again.
I'd be fine with that.I know there's almost no chance of this happening, but I wanted to throw out this hypothetical.
What if the Bills keep both 1st round draft picks and there are 2 decent QB prospects that fall to them (Like Mason Rudolph/Lamar Jackson). How would you feel about them taking both and letting them duke it out in camp for the starting job?
It's a fine line with Foles (assuming that the Eagles confident in Wentz's recovery and are willing to trade him). I think that despite his awesome play this postseason, the media and hence fans don't view Foles as a guy you want to pay up for or give a starting job to for more than a season or two. For that reason, giving up a first would be highly criticised. Anything lower than that though, I think people would generally be on board with.I wonder if the Bills would willing to make an offer for Nick Foles. I would think fair market value would be one of the Bills' first round picks. Foles has one year left on his contract and Eagles will go with their franchise QB so....... why not? He's going to make about $5.5 mill in 2018 season and since the Eagles previously traded Sam Bradford for a 1st rounder, why wouldn't they be interested?
A 1st? No way. I’d be slightly pissed if they gave up one of their 2nds. Foles had two great games in the playoffs. But not worth a 1st.CanadianNFLJunkie said:I wonder if the Bills would willing to make an offer for Nick Foles. I would think fair market value would be one of the Bills' first round picks. I would think that would be tampering at this point. Jimmy G is not a free agent until the new league year begins. Some idiot kid claims to have seen Brandon Beane having dinner with Jimmy Garoppolo at Mulberry's. I'm willing to bet it was Mason Rudolph, or maybe a family member. Really, anything is more likely than Jimmy G.
Only if they discuss contract or NFL business. Not that I think for a moment they actually did have dinner, but if they are family friends or some other such arrangement there's nothing wrong with it as long as it's not about football.I would think that would be tampering at this point. I'd say the same for me. That being said, I have the same feeling/ranking of these guys, except switch Jackson and Darnold.I'm not a "film guy" or expert or anything, but after a lot of reading, listening to experts, and watching some video, my current ranking of QBs in the draft would be:
1) Rosen
2) Mayfield
3) Jackson
4) Darnold
5) Allen
6) Rudolph
I think moving into the top 3-4 to get Rosen would likely be worth it. Moving into the top 10 to get Mayfield would be worth it.
I would would not move up for any of the other guys. Maybe up to 15 for Jackson if the cost was really low.
I agree, but thankfully things may fall into place for them to trade up.If the Bills move on from Taylor they better trade up or have a free agency plan. The combine showed that the cupboard gets really bare after the top five guys and all of them will likely be gone by the Bills' picks.
The local play by play radio announcer John Murphy has a daily show and last week he was talking like Milano has a bright future. Not sure what to take away from that but that's from someone somewhat close to the situation.Hey Buffalo homers, thanks for having me. Quick question, what is the temperature on Milano over there in Buffalo? Is he locked in on the weakside for next season? He is a great story and seemed dynamic when he got to play extended snaps. Looked good in pass coverage as well. Any thoughts are appreciated...
STOP WITH THIS NONSENSE!!!On The Rocks said:I'm against moving up. If anything I would rather they move down and accumulate more picks. This team has too many holes to count.
And if they were to move up to the Giants spot? Forget about it....they would need to give up so much. It's not happening.
