2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (5 Viewers)

Yeah, I’d say that Poyer is playing right into Sullivan’s hands by being so thin skinned. Sullivan is a bit of a troll and undoubtedly loves that this has become about him.
Honestly, I had no trouble with Jerry's question after the first Patriots game.  The Bills deserved to get grilled after that loss.  The Patriots ran the ball like 50 times and the Bills had zero answer.  He's definitely a troll though.

That being said, I don’t mind the Bills at +250 to win the division. They will be a small dog against NE and only need NE to lose at Indy or Mia. I am assuming the Bills will win their other three which might be asking too much.

Wish I pulled the trigger on this one 😕. I try to avoid betting on the Bills since I always think they are going to win.

3) WEEI is apparently melting down with a huge amount of focus on the picked up personal foul flag with one guy even saying it’s clear the league is rigged because of that call :lmao:
It warms my heart to think about what it's going to be like when The Biggest Bandwagon Fans in American Sports suddenly realize that the league isn't carrying water for them any more with Mac Jones under center instead of the annointed one.

With the Fins jumping into the last playoff spot, half of the Bills schedule has been against teams that currently hold playoff spots. They are 4-4 with a +41 point differential in those games.

It’s crazy how little tiny things have such a huge impact in the NFL. Remember the end of the Titans game where they Bills went for it on 4th down at the goaline and Allen slipped and didn’t convert? If he didn’t slip there, there’s a very good chance they win that game. And if they had won that game, they’d be the current #1 seed and only need to beat the Jets to secure a first round bye and home field advantage. Crazy.

Great article.

Really interesting article on how teams are trying to defend the new breed of QBs, specifically on 3rd down. Essentially they’re using a spy, but not in the old way. Instead, they’re intentionally flushing the QB from the pocket to a certain spot and meeting him there with the spy.

I would definitely say some teams have been doing this to Allen. He’s taken off a number of times seeming to think he’ll have open running room only to run into a guy waiting for him.

With most mobile QBs, I feel like this is probably pretty effective in limiting big plays. With Josh, my guess is that it probably increases variability a lot. He’s unlikely to just go down when this happens. He’s more likely to try to make something happen and either create a huge positive play, or end in a fumble/interception.

I was thinking about that same exact thing yesterday. And, yes, it is crazy how many tiny things could have really reshaped this year's standings.

This may come across as Monday morning quarterbacking, but I thought at the time that loss was the one most likely to come back and bite us at the end of the season.  Well, that and the Steelers game which ended up not mattering quite so much, at least not right now.

But hey, game of inches and all.

So it seems as if the Patriots or the Colts are the most likely possibilities for the first round of the playoffs. The odds of playing the Raiders are pretty close to the Colts as well.

So who do you want? I would say Raiders #1 followed by the Pats. I want nothing to do with the Colts.

Raiders easy

Colts and pats are both solid

This team just feels so weird. Top 5 scoring offense. Top 5 scoring defense. Best scoring differential in the league. Won the division and are the #3 seed in thr AFC East being just a Josh Allen slip away from being the #1 seed and having the bye.

And yet they just don’t feel like they are all that good. Just so much variance game to game, and even quarter to quarter. Talent to beat anyone but routinely have periods where dumb mistakes and questionable playcalling/game management snowball and they can lose to even the worst team in the league.

Hoping they can get hot and make a run with some luck on their side. Would feel much better about them overall with Tre White. Kinda feel like they’ve gotten off easy with who they’ve faced after losing him. I think Jackson is going to have a huge target on his back when they play a decent passing attack.

If Leslie Frazier gets a HC job this offseason, Brian Flores seems like a real juicy DC target.
I’d rather Fangio. Flores is reportedly really abrasive/intense and tends to alienate both coaches and players. Though the guys that seem to like Flores are the same types of guys that the Bills love: hard working grinders that don’t expect to be treated like divas.

Though I’ll say I don’t really know what defensive formation either guys prefers so don’t know whether they’d be a fit or not. I can’t imagine the Bills moving away from using a nickel defense too much.

We have really got screwed by weather this year. Would love to see what kind of year Allen had if there were QB adjusted stats based on conditions.

Sure, why not bring Shaq Lawson back.  Guy was a solid contributor when he was here.  At his previous price point, letting him walk was the right move, but he seems like a good value now.  (Not expecting much for the playoffs, but I'd love to have him in camp next season).

April 2021: The Bills really need to invest some draft capital in CB2 to shore up the spot opposite Tre.

November 2021: The Bills really need to invest some draft capital in the interior OL to settle down the offense.

January 2022: What punters are coming out this year?

Projected kickoff temp on Saturday night:  8 degrees

Saturday daily high temp:  12 degrees

But sure, definitely don't need a dome.
Just checked Weather Channel and it is not even that nice .  They are saying high of 9 so game time will be closer to 5.    I have a buddy that is a huge Bills fan and goes to all home games.  I sure hope for his sake the Bills win.

Way back in 2004, the Steelers played the Pats at Heinz field for the AFC Championship and the game temps were in the single digits.   It was so cold you had to drink your beer quick or it would freeze.   The weather didn't bother me 1/10th as much losing to the Patriots.

Go Bills.

Punt God to the Bills confirmed

Geez, I guess this is what having a successful organization means. If the rumors and interview requests are indicators, the Bills seem likely to lose their assistant GM and very likely one coordinator if not both.

You never know... I think we were expecting to lose one of the coordinators last year, and it didn't happen. We can always hope for another year intact. (And TBH, I don't know anything about Joe Schoen.)

Given how the team has performed, I would obviously like to keep everybody together.  That said, I feel like we could replace Leslie Frazier with an external hire and not miss a beat.  There are some really good DC candidates out there on the market right now.  I'm a lot more concerned about losing Daboll.  I know it's easy to bash the OC, but he's done a good job overall and there's no question that he's been good for Josh's development.

Regardless, it's nice to know that both coordinator positions should be super-attractive to guys who want to position themselves for a future HC gig.

As a transplanted Baltimoron that was born and bred a Buffalonian with fond memories of The Electric Co and The Juice, The Bermuda Triangle, the K-Gun, 35-3 to 41-38 and Flutie Flakes let me wish yuse guys all the best in the playoffs starting this week with a win against BB and the Pats. With my Ravens now out of it I still root hard for my beloved Bills and long for the day they hoist the Lombardi Trophy in my lifetime.

Go Go Buffalo, to the SuperBowl, HO!

Got the company tickets to the game on Saturday.  I already watched em lose once to the Patriots on a frigid Monday night, why not do it again on a frigid Saturday night?
I'm with you. All I know is that I'm in the 300's so I've had Amazon deliveries today of thermal-unders x2, chemical hand/toe warmers, an electronic hand warmer, ski goggles, a couple face/scarf options. That's to go with a hoodie and a Jersey, Knit hat, gloves, Zubaz pants. I'm hoping to get all that and a couple days of "normal" clothes onto a carry on bag.

Just a heads up that they might not let you in with those......

prohibited items

Hmmm, wonder if a Zippo hand warmer would be allowed. Nothing specifically prohibits it but I suppose they could say it falls under the “dangerous” items rule.
Edit: sorry I didn’t click the link.  People used the zippo battery operated ones

I have read on Bills Mafia Facebook group that people did bring these in last week. They put it in the bin with their phone and security didn’t say anything.  Not sure that is 100% foolproof though

I will be there in section 315 with my 14 and 16 yr old daughters. Can’t wait!

Stay warm everyone! And buy up those tickets! Apparently it was making the rounds in New England that you can get in the door for $35. Would suck if Orchard Park got taken over by Patriot fans.

Really unfortunate timing with the border rules Canada reimposed in Dec. In addition to ticket cost I am out $140 per person for the Covid test plus a hotel room to ensure I get my results back.  Those 15k - 20k Canadians that love the Bills but won’t go due to this restriction is a significant reduction in demand on tickets 😕

Then you add in the weather 🥶 and I get why some people on either side of that border won’t go.

Jordan Poyer - 1st Team All Pro

Micah Hyde - 2nd Team All Pro

Neither a Pro Bowler.  :wall:
The league has spoken.  Allen is nothing special, Diggs is just so-so.  Our secondary is nothing to write home about.  Hopefully the team reflects on these undeniably true fact over the next 24 hours and approaches tomorrow's game in the proper spirit of humility.

This is nuts. The Bills gave up the fewest deep passing yards all year by an enormous margin. The 2nd fewest is almost 3 times more than Buffalo.

Link
In fairness, this stat is probably padded by the fact that we've played an unusual number of games against QBs who can't throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield.

Have I mentioned that we have a game tomorrow?

Bills have a completely clean injury report.

Pats will be missing their starting LT and one of their starting CBs(Jalen Mills who was pretty good this year). They have a number of defensive guys nicked up as well.

Injuries majorly in Buffalo’s favor for this game. No excuses.

Honestly, the only way Buffalo should lose this game is if they beat themselves. Either with dropped passes, stupid mistakes, or dumb penalties.

So you can’t take an electronic hand Warner into the stadium, but if you have the FanDuel Sports betting app and go to section 123 when the gates open, you can get one for free. Link

Seems pretty crappy to not allow them and then give them out as a tied promotional item.

Agreed, was surprised by this. Still going to go get one though.

Not good.  Anarchy99 posted about them in another thread.  I was surprised.  In fact I replied, calling into sample size and also wanted to know his stats at WYO under such conditions.  But didn't' hear back.
