2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (1 Viewer)

Brian Kelly coaching ladies and gentlemen. VT is not a good team and Kelly’s bungled this game beginning to end playing the wrong players and coaching like crap as usual. Fire his ### already.
I’m looking at the list of coaches at Notre Dame prior to Kelly and their performance. Notre Dame doesn’t get the talent that the top teams do and IMO Kelly has really overachieved while he’s been there.
I don’t like Kelly; I think he’s a real jerk. But he’s also a hell of a football coach and you’re not really going to do better. If you fire him you’re headed to the mediocrity that the Irish suffered for years before he came.

Surprised that Bama didn't try a single run from 1st and goal at the 3. Robinson is averaging almost 7 ypc on 20 carries.

How far back did you look? Weis and Willigham are not the standard. I posted stats above too - Willigham has a better record against top teams at Notre Dame with far fewer years.

Kelly has a losing record against ranked teams. He’s feasted on some of the easiest schedules in ND history. That’s not me emoting, it’s statistically true.

This x100

Take it and get the hell outta dodge. Cant remember the last time i watched nebraska, but they are better than their record would suggest

@aisports_4th: Alabama (27) @ Texas A&M (31)

Alabama has 4th & 4 4 yards from opponent end zone

Recommendation (STRONG): 👉 Go for it (+8.2 WP)

Actual play: 👟🏈 Will Reichard 22 yd FG GOOD https://twitter.com/aisports_4th/status/1447037673575620614/photo/1
Saban will end up as the best college coach of all time. He's a great recruiter of players and coaches. But has he brought more to the college game that that, innovations like Pop Warner did a long time ago, or Walsh did with the WC offense in the pros, or Jimmy Johnson's emphasis on speed? When you have the best players you don't need innovation.

Saban has done a better job than anybody of understanding how to scout high schoolers and then develop them into future pros. No doubt about it.

He’s also 15-17 in the NFL and then bailed on it. He’s the best college coach ever and knew how to set up the machine but I don’t think he’s some genius. Just like Belichick - he had Brady and now without him he is just another guy. If you consistently have the best players you’ll win the most games.

His game strategy wasn't top stuff today.  Taking 3 TOs into halftime when A&M was backed up at the 10. Three straight passes on first and goal from the 3. As @JaxBillpointed out, a fg on 4th down.

Saban was not going to use his timeouts in the 1st half.  Saban was not going to use his timeouts to ice the kicker.   He is consistent.

The three timeouts into the half when TAMU was on their 10 and already ran a give up play on first down was legitimately insane. Cost his team a possession there and they then lost by 3. Really bad.

@DavidPurdum: .@CaesarsSports says it took its largest college football bet of the season today, a $569,738.60 three-team moneyline on:

• Ohio St -1,600 against Maryland
• Alabama -1,000 against Texas A&M
• Cincinnati -7,000 against Temple

Bet would win a net $105,656.

Looks like your spell check had an error. Might want to check that. It was a horribly underthrown ball. Likely his worst throw of the night.
Dback didn’t have his head turned and ran right through the guy. Literally the definition of PI.

Unreal win.

Mistakes and luck disguise how bad Calzada is... but that is what it takes to upset Alabama.  So awesome.

Yes, but the TE turned trying to come back to the ball and the defender had his  arms all over him. In real time I wasn't sure, but the replay made it clear.
