2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (3 Viewers)

Jerry Kill is the interim

@Brett_McMurphy: TCU & coach Gary Patterson have mutually parted ways, effective immediately. Jerry Kill will be interim coach. Patterson was nation’s 2nd longest current tenured coach behind only Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. In 22 years at TCU, Patterson was 181-79 w/17 bowl games

I mean the guy hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in the power 5.   Beating Texas every year isn't all that impressive tbh.

Timing just seems odd but I guess they realize Baylor is gonna try to drop a fifty burger on them next week at home.

After what he's done for the program, you'd think they'd let him finish the year but maybe those days are gone

TCU was going to let him finish the season.  Patterson probably made the right call to go now. He would’ve lost the team had he stayed as they’d see him as a lame duck.

Sonny Dykes no-brainer for TCU.

I mean let's be honest.  Do we really think they will ever be heard from again?   No more than SMU popping up on the radar to flush some game they shouldn't lose and be forgotten again for three years.  Repeat.

Not trying to be rude but figured he was either dead or retired at the cabin. He’s the guy with all the sideline seizures. Blown away he’s still coaching.

Yeah, had no idea he was involved either.  I sort of remember him getting hit hard on the sideline at TCU in an early game after Minnesota and then stuck to the booth after that.  I thought he retired ages ago..

I'm gonna guess there's never been a game featuring two top 5 teams and both of them fell out of the top 20 (ok 19) 3 weeks later.

Lot of Mel Tucker to LSU rumors going around here.

Tucker gutted the MSU roster and told players at MSU to enter the transfer portal, then brought in 29 new players who were transfers.   Including RB Kenny Walker.

Might make some enemies for not being loyal to players already there but this is the new way to build a team fast.

Yea, Harbaugh was a huge proponent of the Transfer portal. ThanksJim!

Yes but Tucker took it to a new level and had success.  Look for other coaches to follow that lead in a rebuild. Why not if it can land a HC a big $$$$$$ deal.

Some fans might not like the new transfer rule but it will weaken teams like Bama, Clemson and Georgia in the long run.   A 4-5 star recruit who is not playing will now leave and go to a different school to play.

Then it helps the new school right away.  Had Walker stayed at Wake Forest MSU is probably 4-4 right now so it does help.

It's almost like it's a semi-pro team or something.  I mean surely of those 29 some wanted to transfer for academics, right?

NCAA football is 100% semi-pro now.  That's the way people wanted it with all the "compensate the athletes" rhetoric.  They got what they asked for.

(I say "they" because I was not one of them - GET OFF MY LAWN!)

umaa fan went from making fun of the Tucker hire, even after he beat them at their house, to now screaming at the top of their lungs that he's gone after this season, going to either a top 5 CFB job or tNFL

I'll be honest... I thought Sparty settled for Tuck, based on timing of the hire, etc.  I didn't know much about him.  Now, of course, I'm happy as a clam with him :)

I'm an old fart, so I love his no-nonsense, no appease the snowflake, no tolerance for BS leadership.  I'm too lazy to look it up, but I wonder what the dropoff in stupid penalties is this year compared to years past.

As much flack as he got from Colorado alumi and the like I thought at the time it must have been a real good hire. Even Chris Fowler (alum) on ESPN sent him a nasty tweet.

Like you said, I'm happy as a clam we have him.  :banned:

Tuck never stays anywhere too long so I am hoping he lands at LSU next year and guts the dead weight on the roster.

Even if it is only for a couple of years as I read before he has NFL HC ambitions.

I wouldn't begrudge him going to a top-5 coaching gig like LSU or even back to the NFL. He's a class act coach and have enjoyed what he's doing with the program.

I think the only thing on Tuck's mind right now is the Purdue game this Saturday.  This one honestly has me concerned. Big potential for a let down after this past weekend and Purdue will be ready for a big upset.

Of course.  Every win now means a bigger payday.   Purdue will be a cake walk.

As a Baylor alum, playing TCU without Patterson will not be as fun. He is a coach who is respected but he is one that is enjoyable to love to hate. Matt Campbell can fill the love/hate void created by Patterson’s departure.

no reason to panic, all is well

@ThomasGoldkamp: And the #Gators just canceled all remaining media availability this week outside of Dan Mullen on the SEC teleconference...

Mullen situation has turned into a nightmare. Not turning back imo.

most viraL story to come out of Texas since CJK5H.

@thomasgcampbell: I'm hearing a repot from a credible source that Texas Longhorns Special Teams Coach Jeff Banks' monkey allegedly attacked and seriously hurt a young Trick-or-Treater last night on Halloween.

The monkey's jaws  apparently had to be pried off the small child.

the other part of the story

@UnnecRoughness: Just to review:

-Jeff Banks leaves wife and kids for stripper known as Pole Assassin (featured on Jerry Springer).
-Texas hires Jeff Banks as special teams coordinator
-Pole Assassin’s monkey (who performs with her) allegedly attacks a trick-or-treater last night

I'm sure this has been getting lots of coverage on the Longhorn Network.  Right?

Source

Update: There is more. Banks apparently left his wife and kids to be with a stripper named Pole Assassin and the monkey is hers and a part of her act.

Update 2: Pole Assassin confirms that a child was bitten. Denies it was serious, but does confirm that the monkey did bite a child

Here is a screenshot containing the tweet and some context.

Update 3: Pole Assassin says the monkey is an emotional support monkey

Here is a screenshot of this tweet. You can see more context for this response in Update 9.

Update 4: According to TexAgs, Pole Assassin tweets at croots. There is screenshots for proof too, so it’s not a baseless claim.

Update 5: More tweets, this time with a video explaining what happened with a walkthrough of the yard. Waiting to see if we hear anything from Banks or not.

PFT commenter has this mirrored since it was deleted

Update 6: The video/tweet in update 5 has been deleted

Update 7: Her entire twitter account has been deleted

Update 8: It appears the monkeys name is Gia and has an instagram account, that account is still active but I believe due to sub rules I cannot post links to it. Here’s a quote tweet about it, however.

Update 9: Earlier, when she was still tweeting, Pole Assassin evidently confirmed the monkey was vaccinated and up to date on it’s shots, which is a positive for the child.

Here is a screenshot of this confirmation, it also goes hand in hand with Update 3

He left his wife and 4 children, one of them more or less just born for Miss Assassin.

College Football is the best sport.  poke holes.

Ah, so it was the stripper wife's monkey.  Makes much more sense now.
