2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (3 Viewers)

Hoping UGA, UM and Cincy handle their business in the title games.

Watching Notre Dame, Alabama and Ohio State complain about the playoff selection criteria would be a pretty powerful drug.

About damn time. What a fun day, still in shock a Harbaugh team closed out a big win. If only Ronnie Bell didn’t tear his knee in week 2.

Thought about that kid the whole game. Sucks
I feel for the guy, he was going to have a good year and probably get a chance in the NFL. By all accounts he has been an incredible leader for that young WR group despite his injury. I have to give him a ton of respect. It would have been very easy to check out at that point.

ETA: looks like he will be coming back next year, I didn’t think he was able to come back

ND probably won’t make the playoffs, but this team has turned out fun, especially on defense. If they happen to sneak in, the defense will keep them in any game played.

Okie State having 1945 national champions right behind their goalpost so everybody can recognize their failures the last 75 years is so embarrassing. Can’t believe they do it.
It’s not even real either, my grandpa had a 20 minute bit on this. Army was ranked #1 wire-to-wire that season in the AP Poll and went 9-0. Bama went undefeated and won the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma A&M did go undefeated and win the Sugar Bowl but they were behind the other two in all the polls. It was retroactively awarded to them in 2016 by the Coaches Association, it’s a joke. A&M also won the bball tourney in 1945, they were really good when everyone was off fighting in the war.

Amazing.

Army was clearly the best team that year- one of the best college football teams ever (relative to era of course). They beat four top 10 teams and featured Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis in the backfield (they each scored 17 TDs in '45). Both would win a Heisman while at Army.

Thats gold Jerry, gold.

College football is stupid. The 4 team playoff is stupid.

Go to 8 teams for crissakes. College football is getting more boring every year. This might have been the worst year yet.

Sure but it's also so much fun. These games today have been incredible.

Well it was a good beat down.  For a rivalry to be good both teams need to win once in awhile.
These teams first started playing in the 19th Century. We are talking bout 5-6 generations of Michigan vs Ohio State. It ebbs and flows. It's just nice to see a game worthy of the history, one that is remembered forever.

Stop rooting for cheap first down miracles. That play wasn’t a big deal and if it was on the other side you’d be arguing otherwise.
Wouldn’t have said anything if they hadn’t thrown the flag, just seemed weird. They called a super soft taunting penalty in the first half so it would have fit.

The refs wisely got together and talked it out before making a lame game changing call. We should all hope they do this going forward.

They absolutely cannot get rid of this game when OU goes to the SEC. College football is way worse off without these games.
