2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (1 Viewer)

first come, first served, @facook or @DJackson10? i'm down widdat. just aint fair for say a halfdozen teams to get moved up 1 and the others not. later rounds? skip. 1.01? uh-uh

Hey guys I apologize I'M ALIVE AND WELL!!!!!!! Unfortunately one of my wonderful stalkers sent me to timeout but I didn't go down without taking them with me. This happened last week Monday night. Either way I apologize for any delay. I've yet to keep up with this so @facook can take the team if he wants. I could despite my timeout react to posts and I was hoping someone would catch on to my reactions and realized I was suspended though Very weird as Usually I can't see and do anything with the board just give me whatever warning it was. Either I'm still here.

FYI: But the poster who reported me made a comment about how he and other make fun of me and other posters. If you guys see any of that make the mods aware of it please. I'm not going to be petty and search for posts to report like my stalker fan club but just wanted to put that out there and if any mods are reading this thread heads up as I do believe what I just posted about what this poster admitted is against forum guidelines

I gladly and predictably take:

2.12 - SF Anthony Edwards, MIN

22.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 3.6apg, 1.5spg and shooting 44/37/81. Dude is a stud, and putting him with Luka? You're watching this team every time they're on TV.

@Juxtatarot
Future MVP.

Asked how it felt to go off for 40 against Portland

Jon Krawczynski @JonKrawczynski·8h

Ant: "I feel like Black Jesus, yeah."

D'Angelo: "I'm gonna sit back for this one." LOL

Hey guys—I’m about to go into back to back to back appointments with clients—so I won’t be able to get online for probably the next 2-2.5 hours.   @Frostillicus  I messaged you my cell number—please shoot me a text after you make your pick and I can let you know who I pick—but I’d have to ask you to post it here for me.  Thanks.

Try to let it go and use the ignore function. I see this type of stalking on several posters for years and nothing is really done. You're just going to paint a bigger target on your back by reporting things.

Relax, nerds.

I started looking at this guy back when I took Myles Turner and although his numbers are down a bit this year he doesn't have to start for my team, just back-up Turner and with him I won't lose much in terms of my rim protection:

8.08 - C/PF Chris Boucher, TOR

Glad you are okay fam.  I don’t want to speak for everybody—but I would totally vote for and totally be okay with you somehow being involved in whatever we decide to do in regards to ranking/evaluating the teams.

Just thinking out loud—I was thinking that if every person in the draft and DJax were to rank every team (outside of their own) from 1-19–(1 begin the strongest, and 19 being the weakest)—and Djax would rank 1-20 (as he’d have no horse in the race).  We could then add up the totals for each team—and the team with the lowest number—would be considered the best seed—and the team with the highest number would be the lowest.  The 4 teams with the highest totals would get eliminated from our playoff bracket—and the remaining 16 teams would start a tournament (1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, 3 plays 14..and so on).   We would each then vote on who we think would win each matchup—until there is a winner. 16 teams first round, 8 teams second round, 4 teams third round, 2 in the fourth round, and then our champion.

What are your thoughts on that? Is that cool—or too much work?

I have to say—when i picked Barrett unexpectedly as I didn’t think he’d be there—I thought there was zero chance that the player I wanted to initially draft would still be here. I need a backup PG/SG hybrid that can use speed and shooting ability to create shots for himself as well as cause a defense to collapse and dish the ball.

I know he’s young—and I know his stats aren’t great—but his “game” matches exactly what I’m looking for to fit in my team dynamic. I will take Jordan Poole here.

My pick is Jordan Poole.

@trader jake

8.10 Alec Burks - NYK SG

At this point I'm looking for specific players to fit roles on the team.  Burks can knock down 3's (~40% last three years) and is a plus defender (great steals guy).  Nice value at this spot too, 365's Raptor model has him as a top 40 ball player this season.  That seems a little rich, but he's an efficient wing that teams can never have enough of.

if Coach Combover would stop jerking him around whenever his $30mil PG's widdew kneesies feew good to go and experimenting with the 3 scrubs that podcasters from Queens keep barking up as the 2nd coming of Linsanity, he could lead that team to respectability

Yeah. I had Burks and Levert in that bucket of players I think are a better than their stats, but neither team seems to be using them close to optimal :2cents:

Not many serviceable PGs out there, let alone a regular starter.

8.11 - Monte Morris, PG - Nugs

13/3/4 with a steal and two 3s a game with decent shooting and only 1 TO a game. Could definitely do worse for a backup point.

He's a guy that has very few weakness but doesn't excel really anywhere. I've been saying for a few years that he is the ideal backup PG because he's a good player that can credibly start in spot duty but as we are seeing this year, he's not a great starting PG. It's nice for the Nuggets because I don't think he'll get the itch to look for a full time starting gig elsewhere.

Had him slotted in. Like the value.

kelly oubre jr

write up later. can someone @ next person
 I know you’ll be doing the write up later—but just wanted to chime in and say “nice pick”. I knew it wasn’t likely—but I was hoping he’d be around for my next pick.  I have him and a few other guys that I’m hoping would still be around.

It never fails that whenever I’m debating between two players when I’m up, the one I don’t pick always goes right after.

I think they are similar talents but their skills are different. I think Morris is a better fit for you and Schroder is probably a better fit for Eephus who needs to juice his second unit a little more.

8.14 Daniel Gafford

We could really use another center and don't really have anyone with the kind of rim running ability and bounce of Gafford.  He provides rim protection and can move pretty well, so won't get exposed too badly if he gets out on the floor.  In certain lineups where we want more size, could play him and Jaren together at the 4 and the 5 thanks to Jaren's shooting ability.

@scoobus

8.15 Reggie Jackson

Was blown away with how good he looked in last year's playoffs. Shooting numbers a bit down this year having to be lead dog in LAC, should improve when just being asked to run the second unit.

Gary Payton II is listed as a PG in the Warriors' program. His on-court role, though, is more like "wing defense", recent development of a nice three-ball notwithstanding.

Our second unit will still need a distributor. One with a more-than-credible outside shot AND the ability to break down the interior of a defense is a nice find this late.

8.16: Tyus Jones, PG  Memphis

@PIK95

8.17 Josh Hart SG Pels

Another starter for our bench.  I feel like he should be long gone, but I didn't see him on the sheet.

I was hoping he’d fall to my next pick. Interestingly, he’s listed as a PF in basketball_ref this year.

I was looking at him and he ended up leading me to Maxey. Both have awesome A/TO ratios.

Last season, they started playing Hart at the 4 to counter some opponents' small lineups. I'm sure back in the 80s & 90s ... your Karl Malones and Charles Oakleys would've ground Hart into the floor. But in the 2020s NBA, the Pelicans and Hart can get away with it.

Btw, the bucket of guys like: Tyus Jones, Monte Morris, Immanuel Quickley, Tyrese Maxey, etc. are why I think Jalen Brunson went WAY too early. They're 90-95% the same production and roles.

I don't know the guts of the Win Shares metric ... but Brunson's Defensive Win Shares (DWS) are about double Maxey's (maybe ~5% fewer minutes than Brunson) and close to double Tyus Jones' (~30% fewer minutes). Does Brunson hold opponents to an especially low percentage on contested shots or something? FWIW, Brunson gets more steals per 36 minutes (1.1) than Maxey (0.7) but fewer Jones (1.5) ... but I don't think the DWS difference is down to just steals.

First of all, he is better than every single one of those guys in every single advanced stat and it isn't even close, so you aren't picking up on something (which is why they created advanced stats...to keep our eyes from fooling us into thinking guys are better or worse than they really are).

Second of all, if I would have had any idea that Maxey was going to fall that far, I would have waited because he is the one guy that is close to Brunson out of that group.  I almost took him as my backup at the last turn and consider him one of the steals of the draft.  Brunson is better, but Maxey should have gone much earlier than he did.

I agree with all of this I believe.  And I would take Brunson over a bunch of guys based on the eye test, which to me, matters more.  Nerds...
