2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (1 Viewer)

13/6 in 13 mins and a +2 on his plus/minus?

So what if he gets some techs? 13/6 in 13 minutes without killing us on defense is exactly what I want.
I didn't say it was a bad pick.  He's just an absolute bone head.  I don't think he makes 12 minutes much longer either, lol.

i appreciate that at least 1 of your worst picks was your own.

I love centers. I love genuine goofballs.

I've loved centers since going to the Gaaaahden w my uncle in the early 60s and watching honest-to-god giants - when i was still young enough to be reading books cuz they had giants in em - like Wilt, Russell, Bellamy, Thurmond clash like gladiators. It increased when a growth spurt made me tall enough to go to basketball camp and be backup center on our roundrobin squad when our starting post - the best player in camp - broke an ankle the first game. Celtics center Hank Finkel (who was tasked to be Russell's successor) gave up his lunch hour the whole week to get me up to snuff on hi & lo post work, so we at least had a chance. People that big seemed a different species - they had to move differently than citizens to make it work and coordinate what they are with what everybody else does. Plus i could actually take shade from the summer sun under his nose, he was that big.

If i have to explain my love of goofballs, youre reading the wrong entry.

10.02 JaVale McGee C Phx

even tho there's still a center on the board who has proved he can be a 20-10 guy w 1+ block and 1+ trey, i want this guy cuz he's the only center reeeeally playing like a center, something it took him a decade of wasted ops, knockdowns & jackpots to learn. even if it never gets him over 20+ mins per game again, he's finally doing it right and helping his team by doing so, as much as the game has moved away from that. I looooove basketball!

bring it home, @JMon348

10.3 Serge Ibaka, C

Veteran presence who's been in and out of the lineup all year.  He should have a bigger role and play better as the Clippers get more and more healthy.  Good mix of defense and shooting to come off the bench in spot minutes.

@Instinctive

wikkid goofballs -

G - Malcolm Brogdon, Russell Westbrook

G - Maaaacus Smaaaat, Josh Giddey

F - Brandon Ingram, Saddiq Bey

F - Evan Mobley, Rui Hachimura

C - Nikola Jokic, JaVale McGee

reminder: i intend to take my starting team off the floor in unison for 6-10 minutes each half, with Russell's Goons wreaking 94ft of havoc for as long as it works

Honest to God was gonna pick Devonte Graham here and saw he was a 5th rounder. Jayrod see I told you I wasn't picking on you that pick was also ridiculously early.

10.04 Cody Martin

A plus defender wing shooting 44% from three on 4 attempts per game getting 27 minutes a night on a playoff team.

Guards- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Haliburton, Davion Mitchell

Wings- Lu Dort, Evan Fournier, Bogdan Bogdanovic

Bigs- Robert Williams, Lauri Markkanen, Serge Ibaka

G/F/C- LeBron James

Really love how this team turned out, I think I got the right blend of shooting, defense, and playmakers.  Will do a full write up of how rotation, minutes, and philosophy will look when it's decided upon.

ALSO UP FOR GOING ANOTHER COUPLE ROUNDS,  PLENTY OF TALENT AVAILABLE!!!!!!

Filling a very specific role here, not necessarily going for best available player.

10.06 TJ McConnell, PG, IND

Have a lot of wing defenders, but wanted to get someone who can hound and pressure PG's when needed. Probably not going to play a whole lot, but will always be ready when called upon.

@Juxtatarotis up next.

10.07 Thaddeus Young

He was the second best Bulls player most of last season. Since we’re well past the Markkanen Line, that seems like decent value.

He and his salary were shipped in the DeRozan sign-and-trade, and he’s mostly sat on the bench so that the Spurs can prioritize development over wins. He is a buy-out candidate, and will be a good contributor to a playoff team that can use his skills.

As a 10th man, he wouldn’t be in my rotation, but he could contribute as a small-ball reserve center.

thought he was the perfect player for Pops, but it turns out he dont like him on the floor with his slowhite centers. shame & a waste

I think he might be dead.

9.15 Ivica Zubac, C, LAC

At this point, looking for a back up big who may not play every night. A little surprised he's still available, even with centers being so undervalued. He's a smart player, a good rebounder who provides some semblance of rim protection and can finish inside.

@Desert_Poweris up next.
I had him as my last deserving NBA starter. Nice pickup.

:lmao:  At least he'll be EXTREMELY EFFICIENT with his 5 minutes/game.

I think there are still another 50 players that could actively help and NBA team. I kinda wish we were going 12 rounds.
I mean we only go to 200 players. The NBA at any given night has 450. 75% of the players we drafted should be starting (150 on any given night).

ETA: By which I mean, I agree with you.

I know we all hate to see Tacko Fall sitting forlornly in the green room but even ten man rotations are a lot in a league without injuries and Covid.

I’m down to do 12 rounds—but it would be nice to have a definitive decision on that as it could effect how we pick. I’d vote yes on it if that’s the first step of the process.

10 man rotations are very common in the regular season. I'd think 10 man rotations are the norm, with 9 man rotations only in specific cases, like having Thibs as your coach. Some of the younger/worse teams run bigger rotations to see who is worth a ####.

I’m thinking that I need a big body to back up Ayton in case I get matched up with a team that has Jokic or Embiid.  I also want a big that can catch and finish alley oops that is used to playing on a fast paced team with shooters.  I know he’s not a sexy pick—but Kevon Looney matches the criteria that I’m looking for.

Kevon Looney is my pick.

Big fan.  We went to the same high school.

10.10 Boban Marjanovich DAL C

Super teams are great, but without a player that can keep them together in the locker room (and on the bench) the whole thing falls apart.  From all accounts Boban is that type of glue guy behind the scenes.  On this team he'll occasionally be used to guard the inbounder in catch and shoots, as a big with fouls to give, or for a handful of minutes when the matchup makes him viable.  You Rang!?!

I'm fine with 10 rounds.  It's not like the final bench spots will make a difference in the voting.  If it helps, I elected to use my 9th and 10th round picks on 11th and 12th round "win now" players.

Go Go Gadget arms!

10.11 - Talen Horton-Tucker, SG - Lakers

Having a rough season so far as he’s having a hard time finding his role with this years Lakers squad (as are most). He can provide some playmaking, versatile perimeter defense, and upside to my bench squad.

YO MAMA’S STROKEMASTERS

Kyle Lowry / Monte Morris

Klay Thompson / Caris LeVert

Duncan Robinson / Talen Horton-Tucker

Miles Bridges / Danilo Gallinari

Karl Anthony Towns / Mitchell Robinson

Overall I have to say that I’m pretty thrilled about my team. I got nutt punched several times in the draft with guys I wanted getting picked a few spots ahead of when I was about to draft them—but in general I love the balance of my team.

Trae young/Jordan Poole

Bradley Beal/Hamidou Diallo

RJ Barrett/Kyle kuzma

Tobias Harris/Wendell Carter

Deandre Ayton/Kevon Looney

I have guys that can shoot, penetrate, pass, are athletic, and can defend. I can go small and play Carter as center, I can go with a speed lineup, and if I get matched up against a team with dominant bigs—I have Deandre, Looney and Carter I can throw at them.  I could easily see trae and Beal each averaging 22.5 points a game each, and Barrett, Tobias and ayton averaging 15 pts a game each conservatively. That means my starters could realistically average 90 points a game. Poole, Hamidou, carter and kuzma could each easily average around 8-10 points per game.  This team averaging 120-130 points a game is not insane. Picking from the 9 spot—I think I ended up doing pretty solid.

Isaiah Stewart write up.

I am happy with the amount of shooting, defense, play-making, ballhandling, rim protection, and scoring I have. The only thing that worries me about the world's best team is if we hit some foul trouble with the big guys. Turner, Portis, and Boucher are a nice group, but if they have issues some night I'm playing Iggy heavy minutes at the 4 - and I don't want to do this. Thus, I need a giant big guy.

And since my other 3 bigs can all shoot the 3, I don't mind a pure stand in the lane kinda guy and Beef Stew is the best available. Also it's a sweet nickname.

Trae Young, Jordan Poole, Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma, Tobias Harris

Who are 5 NBA players that the words "can defend" have never been uttered in description in the history of basketball?
