Brett Veach is a pretty good drafter (CEH notwithstanding) but man the FA moves are almost universally awful. Taylor stinks and is a monumental downgrade from Brown. Another bad signing, like MVS last year, and Frank Clark before that.

Addition by subtraction for Jacksonville.

I suppose I don't understand the whole process of guys agreeing to deals with exact numbers and being reported already.
So, am I to believe that all these guys talked to multiple teams and it all happened just that fast? Lol. Alrighty.

Josh Oliver 3/21 to Minnesota.

Interesting signing. I am a huge fan of Oliver, and thought he was better than Likely behind Andrews, but that's a pretty big contract for a #2 TE.

Bears are giving former Bills’ LB Tremaine Edmunds a 4-yr, $72M that includes $50M guaranteed, per source. It is the largest 4-year contract for an inside linebacker in the NFL.

Should see a big run on RB free agent signings over the next few days. Likely going to be a lot of upset fantasy owners when they are signed cheaply and force committees
I actually think it might take a while. Hot commodities go first.

There was a discussion last year here about the RBs, a lot of dynasty owners will feel different about their RB rooms in August than they did end of the year

Probably right - many of the next tier may not go until after the draft given the depth there,

:lmao:.....

Taylor regarded by many as probably one of the top 5 tackles available......almost everybody is a going to be a downgrade from Brown.....MVS was a solid contributor....and Frank Clark was instrumental in the KC run to SB victory over SF....including huge impact plays in the SB....Clark ranks third in NFL history in postseason sacks and has been named to the Pro Bowl in three of his four seasons with KC.....

I guess you could argue bang for your buck....but some players ala Von Miller are brought in to make plays at times when plays need to be made....Clark helped KC win two SB's....I think they are ok with what they got out of him....

Between free agency and trade the ONLY running back not available is BIjan Robinson

Anyone who is surprised by it has not been paying to the position...
No one should be surprised but it’s always acceptable until it happens to your team.

further sink the fantasy prospects f Kyle Pitts
I like it a lot for Pitts
There have been some rumors, that Pitts may be on the trade block. I don't know how much weight I'd put on that, but its worth noting after this deal for Jonnu Smith.
They gave up a 7th for Jonnu. It's not like...

Arthur loves to move guys around to create mismatched. I only figure Jonnu is getting enough so Ds can't forget about him.

What this really helps is the backs as Jonnu has a knack for getting past his block and picking up another to block. He freed Henry many times.

Belichick was odd adding two TEs that year. Then the guy that always uses all his players' talents didn't use Jonnu as TEN did. It was odd.

I'd guess Jonnu is gonna be more "what a team player" than fantasy relevant

Nah, it won't take that long, they'll start going off and here soon and by and large be all signed in next 7-10 days.

Last year we had Conner and Edmonds sign very quick and then things got a little quiet. But even ROJO who got left behind and had to wait awhile before taking a bottom of the barrel type deal was signed up well before the draft.

What's been surprising about today's RB FA is the ones who got signed were a tier or few below the existing FA RB's. Breida, Boone, and then Gus Edwards agreeing to minor pay cut.

Looks like we got a logjam at the top of the FA RB market right now. Perhaps has something to do with teams like Cincy and Minny dangling trading or cutting Mixon/Cook on Wednesday and those openings and potential available RB's are holding up the higher end tier?

Not joking, the blocking TE market today was surprisingly robust in general but especially since the draft is supposed to have a few options. Jonnu, Oliver who graded at as best run blocking TE in PFF and blocking specialist Manhertz all had teams wiling to sign or trade and pay them more then any of us probably would have thought.

It's the new trend. D's are getting smaller and faster and teams are trying to counter by going 12 personnel and bullying them.

Excellent point.

The right defense or maybe a WR injury, I don't doubt Pitts would play WR and Jonnu and Hesse the two TEs

I’ma fan, but he’s a very different player than Likely. He’s pretty good on HBO too.

Marcus Davenport might have been the best player under 30 years old available in FA if he can stay healthy. Great signing by the Vikings.

I had him for IDP dynasty. He never did anything when it came to filling up the stat sheet. And he's never healthy. He's got a finger amputated from an infection. He seems like a first-rounder that never lived up to it. In fact, I remember his teammates saying that he was "more serious" in either his third or fourth year (I forget which), which led me to believe that he wasn't exactly working hard at his trade.

Anyway, the talent is there, but he's largely been a disappointment.

Still, depending on what he signed for, it's an upside play.

So the Saints trade up in the first for this guy. Don’t pick up his 5th year option. Don’t offer him a new contract. There’s a reason players like this are available in free agency in the first place.

Taylor Heinicke looks like he's signing with Atlanta.

Not that Heinicke was really in the mix, but also with Wentz cut, unless the Commanders have a trade in mind or plan on moving up in the draft, looks like they're all in on Sam Howell.

Saints do this more often than not, usually for players nobody wanted that high anyway. I'm ok with it.

Interesting signing that you can definitely read into...for Atlanta it could mean they are out on adding a first-round QB this year and want to give Ridder a chance and now they have a legit backup if he doesn't cut it...Washington is still a little bit of a mystery...even if they believe in Howell they have to have a plan B as there is no way he can be viewed as a definite...once we see that plan B we should get our answer as to how much they believe in Howell.

Jakobi Meyers to the Raiders for a lot less then most predicted. 3/33. Good player but I thought the hype on him being best WR in the FA class and worth $15m+ was a little much. Mainly because he’s not a 1, not close

Ugh i was holding him on a couple of teams but this makes him a cut for me...

Makes me wonder if one of Renfrow/Waller gets dumped, probably more likely Renfrow, otherwise that is a a lot of money tied up in pass catchers. 51 million between Adams/Meyers/Waller/Renfrow.

Very surprised by this because this is exactly the contract he should have got...as you point out he was a definite candidate to be overpaid...nice fit for the Raiders to go along with Adams, Renfrow and Waller...I thought his days with the Pats were numbered but that was because I thought the contract would have been bigger...the Pats are in a good spot with the cap so they must have made a decision to let him walk regardless of the contract...I am OK letting him walk BUT they need to bring in another quality WR or two as their current unit isn't gonna cut it.

The FA market for RBs and TEs has been slow. Why?
https://mobile.twitter.com/flasportsbuzz
>>Dolphins have only 2 TEs signed (Smythe, Tanner Conner) and 1 RB signed (Ahmed), but of the 40 TEs in free agency, only 2 have agreed to terms. NONE of the 42 RBs has agreed to terms in slow-moving market.<<

Bc smart teams realize its a new league where RBs are not so valuable and its a strong draft class. Some of the outside the box teams rather draft them very high and *also* extend them early to big contracts and/or franchise them when they have 1 good year.

Also none of the top guys are going to really be "the man" or give you crazy productions most are high end complementary guys.

That is pretty weak for the top FA in the class. Quite a difference from last year's FA crop and not a ton of big time talent in the rookie draft.

Can we really call it a slow market when nothing can even be official till tomorrow?
I don't think the official thing matters as much, as plenty of guys (non-RBs) are being signed even if not officially.

As others have said though, teams are not rushing out to get RBs - some will be signed in the next few days, but it may take time to play out for the position.
