Mims can't allow himself to get hit, apparently. Every time he gets hit he's on the sidelines. I know it's a potential concussion, but has there been a catch he's made where you haven't held your breath hoping he's okay?

He just wants to "make a touchdown" this year, in his words.

Ahh, Mims.

Did you see the lollipop pass? Same one that would have gotten Perriman killed a few plays later.

I'm watching a bunch of games. I did not see it. I caught it on Twitter. Crowder just completely bailed out Darnold by cutting in front of the DB to make that snag.

Friggen Sam....sometimes he can look damn good. That end of the half TD drive consisted of at least 3-4 solid passes which makes you think...better weapons, better line, better coaching...would it make a difference? Hmmmm...this is going to be to be a tough call for Joe D. If he takes Sewell, we know which route he'll be going.

You can’t get hung up on one drive when we have three years of data on him. Those “one drives” are few and far between.

Not hung up at all. Just stating the obvious. And let's be fair, Darnold has played pretty well the past 2 and half games. Had he played like this more often, we likely wouldn't be having this conversation nor considering taking another QB again in the draft. But yes he's been very inconsistent over the years some of it having to do with as I just said...poor weaponry, poor O-line play and especially poor coaching and some of it his fault obviously.

So no matter what you or anyone in here thinks, Douglas has a heck of decision to have to make. I like Sewell and want him to take him. If that occurs, than it's likely Sam is coming back for one more year whether we like it or not. But no, I'm not getting snowed by Sam having played pretty darn well the past 3 games. It is pretty good timing tho I will say that.

This is another reason why I think we should take Sewell. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit concerned about how Becton is going to hold up over the years. He gets hurt way too much and it pretty much happens on a game by game basis.

Despite how agile he is for his size, it's almost as if he's too big for his own good. I dunno...wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a potential Anthony Munoz lite like Sewell to play left tackle if Becton keeps getting hurt. No one has really discussed this but it needs to be said... during this offseason, Becton needs to lose weight as in 30-40 pounds. You can't play in the NFL at 370-380 whatever he is...it just doesn't work.

Becton will still be a pile driver at 330 pounds or so. But he won't last if he doesn't lose some weight. This needs to happen during the offseason no question about it IMO

Miami fans just got a glimpse of what it was like to be us all season relying on Jacksonville to win. The Jaguars enter a game with no chance to win. Somehow they manage to stay close. They have multiple chances to take the lead only to fall apart at the very end.

The kid is broken, if he was ever good at all.

It's absolutely time to cut bait.
I wanted to believe. Even this week, I was like "ok., have a good game Sam, and set the table for next year". Nope.

Fields looked good.

Yeah except that he did not play pretty well. I found Darnold pedestrian at best today. He threw two awful interceptions.

What a difference a weekend makes.....just kidding as there is way more data but in a vacuum this weekend it was interesting watching Fields go off and look all world while Sam struggled again....Sam made a very poor closing argument to stay QB....those are the same mistakes a rookie makes...meanwhile on RedZone Herbert is slinging the ball everywhere.....Im still not convinced a lot of this is on Gase but not sure they can risk it at this point...if he was yr 2 its one thing....decision has to be made and Sam gave them little to believe in....Im coming over to the draft a QB camp slowly.....would feel a lot more confident if Fields lights up Alabama....

good news is we'll have months of analysis and debate lol

It really is insane. Everyone is like "well, Sam really played a lot better the last few games" (not knocking anyone in this thread. referring to the media)

In the past 3 weeks...Sam has averaged 20-32 for 216 yards and 1.33 TD's.  And THAT's What we're supposed to get excited about? REALLY?  If he played like this for an entire 16 game season,  he'd be 320 for 512, 3,456,  21 TD's and 11 picks. If it was 1997, that would be AWESOME, but its 2021.

That would be good for 19th in the league in yardage, tied for 18th in TD's (with guys that played like half the season)  and 24th in yards per attempt.

He didn't play well these past 3 games. They just played super conservative (despite having all his weapons available) and he managed not to get picked off. (until today)

So congrats to Gase for dialing back the gameplan to avoid embarrassment and lucking into 2 wins (one against a crippled Browns team) to gift Lawrence to Jacksonville.

I remember the reaction in here when Gase was hired. Everyone knew except for Johnson and that idiot Maccagnan.  These were the worst 2 years in our history and that is saying a lot.

Everyone rejoice now.

This is awesome news! I am rejoicing!

Please hire somebody good and not some retread. Can we get a young and innovative coach, please?

For comparison purposes....

Mark Sanchez's 3rd year.....

308 of 543 (56.7%,  whoof) 3,474 yards, 26 TD's and 18 picks. 6.4 Yards per attempt.  (played all 16 games)

Sanchez's average game for his first 3 years.....(Just regular season stats.....)

17 of 30, 195 yards passing, 1.17 TD's, 1.08 picks.  6.5 Yards per attempts. 55.3% completion.

Darnold's average per start in his career thus far.....

19 of 32, 212 yards, 1.18 Td's, 1 pick,  6.61 yards per attempt.   59.58% completion

Obviously Sanchez had a better roster around him and a better head coach overall (although Rex wasn't involved in the offense and I think we'd all agree that Brian Schotenheimer was a pretty awful OC). But I'd argue the rules are much more in favor of offenses, even moreso than 10 years ago.

The numbers are pretty similar. I'd argue that adjusted for era, Sanchez was better. (although again...better roster around him)
