It was super frustrating watching Brissett last year with Miami. He has nice tough on long passes and is a good scrambler and hard to bring down. But he missed so many easy throws and takes too much time to make decisions. The Browns play NE in game 6, MIA in game 9, and BUF in game 10. Getting Brissett instead of Watson is a win for NYJ.It's extremely odd the the first four games are all against the AFC North - I've never seen anything like that.
Need to go 2-2 there, which will not be easy. Pittsburgh may be starting a rookie QB, but the game is at Pitt. Watson may be suspended but that will still be a tough game @ Cleveland (Brissett is an adequate QB).
Sure, of course I'd rather face Brissett than Watson. I'm just saying, it's still at Cleveland and won't be an easy game by any means. It's a solid roster even with a below average QB.It was super frustrating watching Brissett last year with Miami. He has nice tough on long passes and is a good scrambler and hard to bring down. rockaction said:Hey @NYRAGE, you're up 2-0 in the ECF. I figured I'd give you all a little PFF analyzing our draft to put you all in good moods. Normally, these guys loathe what the Jets do. This time, they barely quibble with even the Breece Hall deal for very good reasons.

There will be Jets bias until they start winning - if a winning team drafted Hall he would be touted as the next Kamara...just price of doing business as a Jet - only positive is that it does carry a discount on the fantasy football front. Ive found Hall is much more available than most #1 dynasty picks. Jet stink - take advantage. You jinxed us with the mere mention of PFF. You know I hate those guys with a passion. One guy (not in that video) killed the Jets for the Hall trade. F off. I think he was trying to make a name for himself with the publicity. I hate those idiots. I love analytics as much as anyone, but if they can't see the value of getting a guy like Hall, then I don't know what to tell them.
This year, he'll get it.You guys are going to get a kick out of this. Remember last year when Sam and Carolina beat Houston and everyone was ready to anoint him a savior of the franchise. This is more like what they got. Looks familiar to Jets fans.

What if by some miracle he did? Some guys need years for the light switch to turn on. Sam's problem isn't arm talent or mobility, it's reading defenses and confidence. I wonder if he'll ever have the processing speed necessary for what he needs to do to be successful. His stats don't bode well historically from what I've seen. (Chase Stuart at Football Perspective is a Jets fan who often tweets historical comparisons of guys to similar players, and it never looked good for Sam. Wonder what Zach's stats look like.)This year, he'll get it.

agree but the Jets have a deeper stigma - the Giants have been just as bad the past 5 years and even they arent as laughed at as the Jets. They are a walking joke of a franchise and it will take some serious winning to shake that ala Cincy. That being said - I think they start moving fwd this year and will be buying on the cheap before others start seeing this is a new franchise.Even when teams have success, I think part of is an anti-NY bias and another part of it that NY teams bring a lot of fans to troll for attention/hits. Look at the Rangers. Second in their division, ahead of schedule in their rebuild, and now in the Conference finals. You have people constantly taking shots at them for a multitude of reasons. Why? Because if you attack the team and the fan-base, it becomes a lightning rod for attention.
That said, the Jets have enough history of ineptitude that they don't need additional reasons to be trolled.
Success will definitely things for the better, but I think it will be different than for a team from say Cincinnati. NY teams will have more haters (even from intra-city rivals that may not even be real rivals).
Makes no sense to own those in the Northeast, really. You'd have to garage it the whole year.Figured I'd see a few high end luxury rides or some crazy ferraris or something but no such luck
There were times the Jets were known for big time offense...Walker/Toon/McNeil; Curtis MArtin/Keyshawn/Chrbet; Ivory/Decker/Marshall.....on paper this O can stack up to them but as always it depends on the QB. You could have all the pieces but if Zach doesnt develop it will be same old. Unlike Darnold I am confident we will know where Zach stands by the end of the year. If all things click this could be a big time O.

I mean a guy his size that can't work out because of a knee injury is going to gain weight. I think he's taking way too much abuse over this and I don't blame him for pushing back a bit.Becton clapping back at critics while wearing a shirt mocking all the criticisms about him being out of shape and a possible bust while he still cant practice almost a year later from a 8 week injury and appearing clearly out of shape is one of the strangest things Ive seen in a while.
Im not trying to join the over react crowd but if youre going to push back at critics saying you are out of shape shouldnt you at least be in shape? Even Saleh who throws around praises like candy was very lukewarm when talking about Becton - I think the concerns are legit at this point and until he shows that he is healthy and in shape they will continue. Depth at OL has to be addressed.I mean a guy his size that can't work out because of a knee injury is going to gain weight. If he's not ready for training camp that's another story - and from what I read his knee is better but the team needs to get him into "football shape." I'm not saying there's no concerns at all, but I think it's been blown way out of proportion.
Not sure what was the better look: wearing the shirt saying he was fat, lazy, out of shape etc while sweating through it so bad it looked like he just got done with a swim meet........or the video clip SNY put out of him "stretching" where it clearly took him a full 15 seconds to get off the ground.Im not trying to join the over react crowd but if youre going to push back at critics saying you are out of shape shouldnt you at least be in shape? I understand your position, but I also think you are selling this situation a little short by generalizing it as "everything worries us."I guess Jets fans are just so used to getting beaten down, everything worries them. Until I see him not ready for training camp I'll continue to think of this as an over-reaction. I really do not think the JD would go without addressing the position if he was concerned.
His knee injury is what caused him to be out of shape - because he's recovered slowly means he's not rehabbing properly? How do we know that? Just because a moron like Boomer Esiason says something, I'm not going to just believe it.I understand your position, but I also think you are selling this situation a little short by generalizing it as "everything worries us."
For as big of a year as we can all agree this is for Wilson's development and future, it's troubling to see the current state the most important piece of our offensive line is in, and has been in for at least 5 months. He's made zero progress since week 1 of last year. Instead of the ACTUAL offseason, he now has to use this time to [hopefully] get to training camp weight, and then use training camp to get into playing shape. Where's the development? Where's the reps to build cohesiveness with the rest of the line? Just lit a year of his career (and rookie deal) on fire as far as potential IMPROVEMENT is concerned, simply needing the time to recover from the laziness of ballooning up because of a knee injury. It's inexcusable regardless of how he turns up in camp IMO.
This is the equivalent of a fighter allowing himself to get out of shape in between fights, then needing a training camp to get into some sort of shape, versus allowing that time to be for technical/tactical development specific to the next fight. Is the knee still injured? If he was rehabbed properly, then what's the excuse for being in the current condition he's in? If he's still injured and needs to be off the knee and hence the weight game, then I'll ask, wtf has he been doing for the last 8 months?
No, it's just really worrisome. From the end of the first year, he expressed a desire to not play for the Jets. Not no desire to play for them, but a desire not to play. That's bad. Couple that with everything he's done, and it's a real cluster of bad things going on.It's like everyone is just ready to throw a guy that looked very good as a rookie in the trash because he got injured
I know my memory is starting to go but I don't remember that at all.No, it's just really worrisome. From the end of the first year, he expressed a desire to not play for the Jets. Not no desire to play for them, but a desire not to play.
Actually, yes. 8 months post non surgical injury and gaining over 10% of your bodyweight (when you were already an at-risk case for needing to keep the weight in check) means you aren't rehabbing properly. You are making excuses for him. If his knee injury caused him to gain weight (because god forbid he could make a DIETARY commitment and not just a physical commitment, especially when the physical commitment was hindered) and that weight gain continued to slow his rehab to the point where he's in the current shape he is - then what has he been doing this entire time? How can you not question his motivation or competitiveness? Carl Lawson ruptured his achilles tendon. He didn't come back weighing 320 and looking like he was going to have a heart attack from standing up.His knee injury is what caused him to be out of shape - because he's recovered slowly means he's not rehabbing properly? How do we know that? Just because a moron like Boomer Esiason says something, I'm not going to just believe it.
Of course it would be better if he was healthy and in-shape, but the current time-line says he'll be ready for training camp. If he's not and/or he's struggling then, I'll be concerned.
This is a very odd phenomenon to me. It's like everyone is just ready to throw a guy that looked very good as a rookie in the trash because he got injured.
I forgot about this. For some reason I thought the initial reports were he was killing it in camp, and then it seemed like everything turned bad for him. At any rate, this kind of piggybacks what I said in a post or 2 above, that instead of spending this offseason maybe improving footwork and technique to actually progress in his craft, he's spent it 'rehabbing' and [unsuccessfully] chasing the weight monster away. Conversely, you look at an Andrew Thomas on the Giants who went from year 1 bust to progressing very nicely into a trustworthy starting to tackle in year 2, and now the Giants have reasonable expectations for him to continue his improvement into a top 10 T in the league. While the injury/out of shape stuff is my main concern, the reports out of camp last year (pre injury) were HORRIBLE. I get that its limited contact, sometimes no pads (which limits a massive man like Becton) ....but Lawson (and apparently everyone else he went up against all Summer. I think he got smoked by Green Bay at the joint practice as well) beat him like he was a JV guy.
I'm trying to find it and can't. Maybe it was somebody else. But I don't think so. He had a problem with how Gase ran the team, IIRC. He let it slip he would have no problem leaving the Jets, and it seemed to be an active thing rather than a passive thing.I know my memory is starting to go but I don't remember that at all.

I know this doesn't apply to you but I think a lot of Jets fans that call him a "bust" would rathe be right than have him prove them wrong. Sometimes I truly believe Jets' fans have gotten the team they deserve all these years since they suck just as bad as the team.I really hope the guy comes out swinging and proves us all wrong but the criticism is justified with the facts above
Jet fans are a strange bunch - the PTSD from getting let down for decades definitely have this almost self loathing complex. I go to all the home games and its like the crowd is almost waiting for that moment of when the Jets blow it or a big injury. Ive seen rabid fans start laughing insanely like the Joker and not be able to help themselves screaming "I told you (add player name here) is a bust or would get hurt" also lots of "its over - we stink" literally in the 1st quarter of a close game - its almost an act of self preservation. So many awful things over the years - it just damages you. some examples:I know this doesn't apply to you but I think a lot of Jets fans that call him a "bust" would rathe be right than have him prove them wrong. I don't want to come across as an apologist but I still think some of the "outrage" is a bit manufactured and looks past some of the reality of the situation.
I'll leave it at that and not comment about Becton again, unless I'm forced to admit that his critics were correct if he doesn't make it through training camp.
I’m not big into “karma” or fate or anything like that but it becomes some strange circle of self fulfilling prophecy where the negative vibes settle in and stay for a while. Do the fans feed off the team and the team feed off the fans?Kiddnets said:Jet fans are a strange bunch - the PTSD from getting let down for decades definitely have this almost self loathing complex. Gastineau roughing the passer up double digits on 4th and long in AFC Div game
Blair Thomas over Emmit Smith
Fake spike loss
PArcells having a RB throw a pass near the endzone in a must win game to get into playoffs
AFCCG in Denver and strange gust of wind leads to a collapse
Vinny blowing out achilles 1 game into being the favorite in the AFC
Herm kneeling instead of running a play for a 50 yd FG in Pitt - Doug Brien
Drafting a kicker in 2d rd
Giving Sanchez a monster deal despite knowing he wasnt that good
Butt Fumble
Geno getting punched in the face by his own teamate
QB in top 5 - sees ghosts and stinks
1st Rd top LT gets fat and cant stay on field
Living through the above may explain the negativity lol
The team played a golf outing at my club yesterday. I swung by at lunch to see if i could spot anyone but they were all out on the course. Saw some BIG dudes on the 3rd green from the road, but not sure who it was.
Was a little disappointing at the level of cars in the parking lot. Mostly tricked out SUV's. Figured I'd see a few high end luxury rides or some crazy ferraris or something but no such luck![]()

I personally would love to see him in good shape and contributing. I think that's what everybody hopes. I don't think we want to throw him in the trash, but this guy has lit huge bonfires and called the smoke nothing. I doubt that he's ready by the year's beginning, and if so, I doubt his effectiveness is anything to speak of at first.
It's too bad. He graded out well his first year when he was healthy. They even had PFF doing mea culpas about the pick. Turns out they might have been right in the first place.
