So......morning after with fresh eyes...I still think I stand by my Zach Wilson comments. He won the game, came through when it mattered most....but he was just awful in the first 3 quarters. You can blame the O-line or a couple of drops, but his stats are just plain putrid.

Going into the 4th quarter, he was 8 of 24 for 124 yards and 2 picks (with just the TD reception)

4th quarter was great. He showed some real guts and made some big throws. His mobility looks really good and if he can learn how to escape pressure (which is likely to to continue this year unless Duane Brown comes back and plays really well and they figure out something at RT), reset and deliver downfield, it will be a big time weapon. But if they weren't playing a team with their own QB issues (and a bad oline) the comeback wouldn't have been possible. And it was mostly only necessary because of his poor play in the middle of the game.

Good to see both Lawson and Jermaine Johnson make some plays. Still hate the over-rotation, but it seems pretty clear its here to stay. Apparently the Steelers were picking on Mosely in the passing game. Seems like getting an around "swiss army knife" type LB who can really cover should be a focal point next off-season. Of course, those guys dont grow on trees.

To the dismay of my fantasy team, Moore was a total 2nd half no show. They didn't even target him. Bummer.

Big money spent on Uzomah to basically just be a blocker. Now....we certainly NEED a good blocking TE with how bad the tackle play has been, but that seems to be a poor use of resources. Hopefully they can develop Rucker this year to replace him.

Same thing with Berrios. Lots of $$ for a guy who basically only gets involved on gadget plays and PR now. Maybe we're having a different discussion had Wilson not fallen into their laps at 10, but right now, he's mostly an afterthought. Glad they didn't go crazy and pay him as a WR2.

Corey Davis had a really nice game.

Sauce is a monster. He'll be first team all pro by year 3, IMO. He's that good.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Frustrated After Loss: ‘It’s Frustrating Losing To People That You Know You Are Better And More Talented Than

Obviously Pitt is not a great team and they debuted a rookie QB at halftime - but hey - they lost a similar game to Baker Mayfield a few years ago and many others throughout the years. Ill take an ugly win any day and a 2-2 coming out of a very tough start. They are relevant in October and survived the Flacco era which was the first low hurdle to me.

QB - Wilson was far from great - but his mobility was huge and he stepped up when needed. For a debut with a decimated O line Ill take it. He definitely is still having problems with easy passes but im hoping as time goes on that will get better - especially with a better OL - very tough to be hard on him when he is getting guys in his face right away. Content with what I saw and cautiously optimistic he can improve - he had his warts but I still see traits of a franchise qB I never saw in Sam or Sanchez....

OL - they may need to sacrifice something to the injury gods - this is beyond ridiculous and losing the kid who was doing well is brutal. Though it was smart moving AVT to LT and at least solidifying 1 side of the OL. Cant blame JD or Saleh for this mess but I did finally see some rollouts and quick passes to adjust to it. Gotta just deal with it this year - I think we know where FA $ and draft capital will be spent!

RB - As predicted Hall is slowly taking over - hes just too talented - Carter is a very nice change of pace RB but Hall is a bell cow and they will be feeding him more. I still dont think weve seen the best from him - very pleased so far

WR - this is a deep position and it shows - Wilson stars one week....then Davis...Elijah still hasnt broken out but I think thats coming as well - love berrios dose of gadgets but also there is injury bug hits. Great job by JD here

TE - Conklin gets open but an I think hes going to fumble every time - it is nice to see a TE involved - CJ has been MIA

DL - Q played great - obviously motivated - JJ sighting nice also.

LB - Mosely is a nice LB but has limitations where he shouldnt be a $17M LB....hes here for another yr likely after this so hoping they draft/sign a solid LB to cover his limitations.

DB - love Sauce - could be this regimes Revis if he develops - what a weapon that would be. Safeties rebounded

ST - solid day without any disasters

Coaching - OC got a bit creative and did better - defense stepped up when they had to....the stupid penalties have to stop. Saleh needs to make examples out of some at this point.

Outlook - 2-2 with a likely Teddy B led Miami team commin to Met Life crowd should be worked up - definitely a winnable game. After this its a tough 2 weeks at GB and Denver so to be relevant in November they will need to win this game most likely.

Yeah, love that Q is just playing his guts out and keeping his mouth shut (other than his blowup with the DL coach last week). He's confident in his talent and knows he'll get paid if he balls out.

Hope they pay him. He deserves it. When/if they do you just hope its not another Mo Wilkerson situation. That guy was a beast and an absolute model citizen right up until the check cleared. Then all of a sudden he was showing up late and playing like garbage.

Mitchell likely NOT done for the season per Rap. Out multiple weeks with a knee dislocation but not season ending. So that's a positive.
you know its bad when we are celebrating that our 4th rd OT that was shaky as a starter is "only" out several weeks lol

Yeah, for sure. Gotta celebrate the small stuff.

I was just happy to see the Jets actually get DECENT production out of a mid round rookie (especially from a small school). He was far from perfect, but he didn't look like he was in over his head. I've always thought taking interior linemen (and RT's) in the 3rd and 4th round was a good idea. Might not be high ceiling guys, but if you can steal even an average starter in this spots (and get them for 4 years on a dirt cheap rookie deal) its a huge help for the rest of the roster.

Of course you have to give them proper coaching, which has been a problem.

Jets designated OT Duane Brown (shoulder) to return from injured reserve.

Defensive lineman Vinny Curry was also designated to return. Brown was signed in the middle of training camp after the Jets lost Mekhi Becton to a season-ending knee injury. Brown then suffered a shoulder injury that landed him on injured reserve just before Week 1. He now has a 21-day window to return to practice. Brown's return would be a big boost for a Jets' offensive line that has been crushed by injuries this year.

I saw 2 really bad picks and at least 3 missed chip shots.
I rewatched the game because I was working during it.

I saw 1 bad pick, and one that he had a lot of help from Conklin on.

I also saw a tale of 2 halves. 1st half ZWilson was rusty & a bit indecisive. Felt a little out of sync, and confidence lacking.

2nd half ZWilson made me very happy to have him as part of my SF rebuild. He looked very good - better than I’d seen at any point last season, and he looked pretty good at times last season. This is a QB who’s turned a corner.

If the Jets can eventually, consistently get 4 quarters of 2nd half ZWilson, they’ve got something special.

Is it me or does he need to take some zip off of some of his passes (especially the shorter ones)? Feels like a ton of balls are bouncing off guys hands and he could stand to put a little more touch on some of these throws.
Some of that seemed like adrenaline. I agree he needs to settle into those throws, but I’ve seen him make those touch passes in the past. Not like kaepernick where he’s just not capable of it.

Jets coach Robert Saleh told reporters LT Duane Brown (shoulder/IR-return) is a game-time decision for Week 5 against the Dolphins.

The Jets used guard Alijah Vera-Tucker at left tackle this past week due to heavy attrition at both tackle spots, so Brown's return would make a big difference as they try to figure through the contingencies. The Jets aren't required to post status updates about Brown on their official injury report because he's coming off injured reserve. We'll likely hear a final word about this on Saturday.

Great win today. Nice to see our rookies living up to their draft status, and ZWilson looking better in year 2
Wilson wasn’t amazing but he played solidly. He was accurate and found open guys. The offense looked great today. It’s amazing to see playmakers for the first time in a while. This was a fun game to watch and it being against the Phins, all the better.

Breece Hall is a stud. Almost 200 yards on 20 touches. We have gamebreakers everywhere on the offensive side of the ball for the first time in a long, long time. Would love to see them get Wilson and Moore more involved but game flow obviously dictated some of that gameplan today.

Obviously the Dolphins were neutered a bit today.(ok, maybe more than a bit) 3rd string rookie QB, no LT, both corners out....but you can only beat who they put in front of you. The Jets put up a 40 bomb and showed growth across pretty much the entire roster.

Hall is a STUD. Carter a very reliable # 2 (although he really isn't doing too much with his touches). LOL at anyone who thought trading a 5th round pick to move up and get him was a bad move. A 5th rounder? Come on.

AVT moves to yet another position and Brown came back (still skeptical he's gonna hold up for 12 more games. He's 37 with a torn rotator cuff. But man...what a pro. Could have easily taken the $$$ and gotten surgery) and the line seemed to play better. Cleaner pockets for Wilson most of the day and even though it seemed like the run game wasn't getting much push early...Hall had a big day.

Wish we could get the downfield game going more with Moore and Wilson. (Moore is one of 7 players killing my abysmal fantasy team right now) but still....40 points. If Hall keeps doing this, teams will have to respect it, which should open up more downfield.

Sauce's rise to stardom continues. Other than basically 2 drives, the D played great. (got sliced up for some longish runs on the 2 TD drives, but I'm sure part of that was devoting more men to stopping the long pass game) Some guys are starting to get home and finish pass rushes. Q looked SCARY athletic for such a big man scooping up that fumble. Really wish he had scored.

Re: Zach....hard to say anything bad. Not a crazy productive day (only 210 yards) but a lot of that was game script. Incredible guts and toughness on the TD run. Dont remember any missed layups. Really nice ball placement on a couple of key longer throws later in the game. Just seemed very in control all day.

Now we get Green Bay coming back from London and then a terrible looking Broncos team before to back home games against NE and BUF.

Things are gonna get REALLY interesting around here if they somehow go into Lambeau and win next week. I dont see why they cant.

The best part of Zach today was you never said “omg” or “what?” while watching him play. He really did play under control and did what he needed while playmakers made plays. The offense could have been more creative at times but it looked like a legit NFL offense for the first time in a while.

What a day. This is weird. I should be shocked, but I'm not. I think the draft classes and free agents the past two years are just that good. Mulligan for 2020. Forget it. Blame it on Gase. Why wouldn't you/we?

I hope we see continued growth from these guys. This was a draft class with talent to dream about and Zach's development into someone where you don't notice that there's anything glaringly wrong with the QB is a really positive step forward. If you can surround him with talent, all you need is a game manager. A game manager who was throwing twenty yard outs on a dime today.

Those plays like the seventeen yard gain to Davis are what we all hoped for from him. On a rope from the pocket to the sideline. And the near one, which is a little tougher for a righty because of body positioning. I hope he keeps it up and keeps developing and that the line holds up.

Yes, they're focusing on Hall right now on NBC. "Kids got talent" is the segment and Chris Simms is running it down. It's about all the young Jets.

Hall is exactly what I thought he'd be when they traded up for him. They bypassed Houston. And some I-won't-say-what on this very board was posting really long-winded posts in another thread about why the Jets should have signed Melvin Gordon and held on to that fifth round pick. And that they should have picked somebody else in Round Two.

I'm gonna find that guy and give him a shout-out. So many stupid takes in life, so little accountability for idiocy.

His rants were so ridiculously bad. It was one of those times where someone tries to show how much smarter they are than everyone else, but instead showed just how clueless they were the more they kept going. How dumb they were to give such a "valuable" pick to move up to get Hall was probably my favorite part.

Can you imagine how pissed we'd be sitting here watching Gordon run straight into the pile 15 times a game?

Really shows the difference in how a QB can thrive when you put the right pieces around a QB. Something we Jets fans haven't seen in ages - putting a QB in position to succeed. If the patchwork OL can somehow put it together, all the better.

Next week will be a true test for Zach and the whole offense on the road at Lambeau. While the Packers are clearly not what they used to be, it's still a tough place to play and they're going to face a pissed off Packers team having just been embarrassed by the Giants in front of a worldwide audience.

Nice win yesterday, didn't surprise most of us who follow the Dolphins. Starting Corners out, no excuses and wasn't bothered when Skylar entered the game. Yes he threw an interception but he also got it back before the end of the Half IIRC.

Great job, QB looked improved vs Steelers the week prior which was his first game back, couldn't get upset since he won anyways. vs Pittsburgh.
B2B wins for Wilson and the Jets, 3-2 record and the Playoffs are potentially something they can shoot for now, like right now vs being a year away. Lot of weapons to play with.

@GBP, they aren't all that and a bag of chips right now, Aaron Rodgers is unhappy, they almost lost to the Pats 8 days ago, they can be had.
@Den, no reason New York cannot compete here
NEP and BUF before the Bye week

Would you take 5-4 and get set for the back half of the season?

Solid win yesterday against a beaten down Fish - not apologizing as Jets have their own issues all season. Few thoughts

QB - As we have all been saying - JD has made things easier for Wilson. He has the most playmakers any Jet QB has had in decades. It makes his job so much easier - he doesnt have to be a Mahomes - just dont make boneheaded mistakes and make the easy read/play and he will get more and more confident. He may not be a top tier elite QB but he has the traits to be an above average QB in this O which we havent seen as JEt fans in a long time.

OL - should get an award - AVT has been the best utility OL Ive ever seen personally - Brown coming back when so many before him would have gotten the surgery and checked out...man what could have been if Becton didnt get hurt. Hopefully Brown and stability for a few weeks should improve then further

RB - Hall continues his break out - best Jets RB since Curtis Martin. I loved this pick from the start - envisioning out own version of 1-2 punch and it is glorious. It makes ZWs life so much easier and they finally have weapons that DCs need to plan for....

WRs - ZW hasnt really showed big time chemistry with any one particular WR yet - he spreads it around which is great for real ball and not great for fantasy lol - I was expecting him to click with Elijah again but he seems to be an afterthought. They are so deep at the position with their 3 deep starters and then they hit you with a Berrios play - what a turnaround from the ghost town of a few yrs ago.

TE - nothing from the TEs today - I havent seen anything from CJ of value - may be a one and done with him

DL - Q breakout continues - hes gonna get paid

LBs - flying around with more speed than im used to seeing - definitely the group that could use an upgrade tho

DBs - Sauce is the real deal - what a stud and much needed in a conference with so many QQBs/WRs. Safeties stepped up

STs - Mann actually punted well and Z may be my fave Jets Kicker since the days of Meyers/Folk/Hall

Coaching - I ripped them in the past but praising them now - good gameplan and well executed. Kept on the pressure and used the weapons well - they definitely want to play for Saleh

coming up - I get that GBand Denver looked bad - but they are both extremely hard places to win - I wouldnt be shocked if they dropped both - hoping they go in strong and not flat.....take advantage early and get the fans to turn on the home team is best recipe as they are frustrated.

The last two games he got involved early and looked good and then just disappeared from the offense. I don't quite get it, but for the first time in a long time we can say things like "too many mouths to feed".

Yes - both teams are "down" right now but both teams are loaded with talent and like you said both places are tough for the opposition. I'd be more than happy with good showings in these 2 games but will get a bit greedy and ask for a split.

Rhule fired - I remember being upset they missed out on him....especially when they hired Gase instead - both were awful
They obviously made the wrong choice at the time - but seeing what he's done in Carolina and how an "offensive guru" turned them into one of the league's worst offense, it seems like it all worked out. Gase did at least play a role in getting Douglas the GM job which looks like one of the best hires, after Parcells, in Jets history.

Rich Kotite gave the Jets Wayne Chrbet and Gase JD.....at least something good can come out of horrific couching hires.

Kwon Alexander is a fricken' monster. What a pick up, and he just turned 28. $1.2 million, one year deal. They need to lock him down ASAP, and I'm sure they're already talking.
Yeah, huge pickup for sure. He does all the heat seeking missile stuff that quincy Williams can do but he's much more disciplined and precise.

Certainly hope they lock him up for next year.

Next years cap is actually pretty tight compared to recent years - I think this will be an offseason to extend their own players rather than bringing in FAs which is fine by me if players like Kwon and Q earn it...they will need to restructure Lawson and JFM. I think they move on from Davis as they are set at WR unless he agrees to a big cut. 2024 however is a big FA year or the year to push $ on extensions. Over $100M of cap room with lots of fat to trim.

JD really has done a great job of putting the team in a position to make a serious run during ZWs rookie contract.

Imagine thinking that a Jets team has a chance to go into Lambeau Field and get a win? I don't think it happens, but it's not crazy at all to think it could based on the direction both teams are heading.

I'll predict a 30-24 win for the Pack, but obviously hoping the Jets steal one here.

Completely agree - Lambeau and Mile High are 2 of the toughest stadiums to win at in the NFL - no matter how poor the home teams are playing. I am hoping they keep it close, keep showing progress and have a chance to steal one of the 2. I will not be too upset unless the manner of loss is upsetting - which knowing the Jets it tends to be. If they are competitive then fine, if they split thats fantastic, if they somehow win both we are looking at a new era.....but im expecting some hiccups still and they drop both but they absolutely have a chance to beat both - i really hope im wrong and they go in there and take it!

I'd feel better about the Jets chances on Sunday if the Packers had beaten the Giants. As mentioned, it's a tough place to play any time, and with the Packers coming off that embarrassing loss, you know they're going to be fired up, as will the crowd. My son, who just moved to Madison, WI, will probably be the only Jets fan there unfortunately.

But this team has surprised before, so you never know.

Unless Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs morph into Chris Olave and George Pickens (or Garrett Wilson, if you will), Green Bay is gonna run, run, run the ball or take advantage of C.J. Mosley with quick hits to Jones and Dillon out of the backfield.

It sets up a really tight game with lots of men in the box, I'd imagine. According to the Athletic, the Jets were getting burnt against Miami because they were playing big nickel and were too big for Miami's speed. They then adjusted to a more traditional nickel and had success on defense with it. We might have to bring big nickel back and hope it works against Jones and Dillon, cause five normal size DBs ain't gonna cut it against those two.

That's just the Athletic speaking, though. I hardly noticed what the heck was going on like that. Glad the Jets made the adjustment to go a little speedier after Mostert gashed them that one drive.

My faith in Wilson is paying off. He looks solid - playing mistake-free football.

IMO he’s going to become more and more FF relevant as he gains experience & starts to run more.

Jets are smartly giving him a caretaker role+, building his confidence, limiting his mistakes.

I love what I’ve seen the last couple weeks. Jets continue to be my adopted AFC underdog team to root for. Their fan base deserves this, and I hope it continues for a long time.

*reminder that I acquired ZW in dynasty in my Mahomes godfather deal, so I’m hardly neutral here. lol

When a NFL team has an elite QB (which i think Rodgers still is) and a competent offensive coach (one who knows how to scheme people open, if they dont have high end talent at the WR/TE positions) pretty much the only defense is "get him on the ground". If you can do that with a 4 man rush, you can win. If you can't.......a truly elite QB is probably going to carve you up more often than not.

Assuming the Jets O is reasonably productive on Sunday (they're not gonna get 40, but if they dont score at least 25, I seriously doubt they win) and doesn't turn the ball over, it all comes down to Jets front 4 vs the GB line.

I'm not a guy who bets on sports, but I'm seeing the current line at GB -7.5. That seems like too much for a not so talented team coming back from Europe.

Did the Jets really go into Lambeau and actually pasted the Packers? This cant be real life!

This was one of the best games I watched of them since the Fitzmagic year. This is what happens when you have a good blueprint and follow it. There is finally an identity with players on both sides of the ball that will give coordinators nightmares to prepare. Competent coaching with some good playcalling on both sides of the ball - just great to watch

QB - ZW still is not popping off the statsheet but he is managing the game and using his weapons very well - not making the critical mistakes and showing key elusiveness when needed. I love how Mac with the Pats manages the game last yr and gets heaps of praises while ZW still gets criticized. I have no doubt the big plays will come - I am absolutely fine with him going slow and building confidence with his weapons...while ahem winning!

OL - Thank you Brown - in a wold where players get paid and check out - this guy is the poster boy for loving the game. At his age most would have gotten the surgery and checked out - the fact that this guy is playing and at this high a level is incredible and I give him a lot of the credit for the newfound running game. OL is looking so much better - with Fant and Mitchell returning at some point this early season train wreck could be a strength!

WR/TE - Not used a lot - panic setting in from Elijah/Wilson owners but I think its a buy low opportunity. The running game has been insane but DCs will scheme to respect it more leaving the WRs/Tes open in the future -

DL - Q wow - this is what we were waiting for - if he plays like this the man is going to be paid a ton and will be worth every penny! Entire DL played well and put a lot of pressure on Arod while keeping run in check - the hated rotation was not so bad as Q seemed to get a lot more reps.

LB - Q 2 played very well - still one of the weaknesses on the team - stinks that Mosely is virtually uncuttable the next 2 yrs.

DBs - Sauce!!!!!! That is all

STs - Z is a big time kicker - lock him up.

Coaching- great job on both sides - Milf was creative but also pounded the run with very good schemes - DC let them loose - great job

GM - Have to give a nod to JD here as this is his blueprint - all these weapons and solid D makes ZW life so much easier where he hopefully doesnt have to play hero ball. Hes not making critical mistakes and hes developing nicely. All the people howling are fixated on fantasy numbers which I get - but its about winning. The numbers will come. ZW already showed he could let it rip in comeback mode if he has to - now he is showing he can manage a game. Hasnt looked great but hes 3 games into his 2d season after a major injury - I am very pleased so far and give a lot of credit to JD for making his life easier.

We are in mid October and not looking at draft position nor enduring endless wisecracks about being a doormat - this is enjoyable!

The Jets are finally an NFL team.

Wilson wasn't very good (but wasn't terrible) and yet they stomped the Packers in Green Bay. Anyone not 100% behind what Joe Douglas has done to this roster is simply not very knowledgeable.

I still actually can't believe what I watched, actually happened.

Joe Douglas was the one of the architects of the Eagles 2017 championship team. Sucked to lose him.

One of the things I loved about JD was that and years with Balt - 2 franchises that seem to do well with long range plans.

douglas has been just ok IMO. if he gets credit for 2022, then he takes the blame for essentially a zero from 2020 and a very meh 2021. this just underscores how important the draft is and not missing entire drafts, idzik style. build with the draft, fill with FAs. but getting 6-7 players and likely the DROY and OROY in the same draft is going to hide some mistakes.

So how's it feel Jets fans? Winning games. Cool, huh?

Must feel pretty pretty good I'd imagine. Good coaching, talented roster - sky's the limit as Zach continues to mature.

It's a good look - your team has a bright future.
