2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (12 Viewers)

Congrats on your dub. You guys battled, it was a little ugly. You beat a solid team, in the rain on the road. Don’t over analyze it.

For Dallas…I hope they burn the tape. It means nothing.

Both are really good teams (along with the 49ers) and are the clear class of the NFC. I see no other team even in the convo.

It will be all about who is playing their best ball in the playoffs and health. Saw you guys had a few bumps and bruises.

Carter is a player.

At least we’re not the giants…

The NY/DAL game is as bad as the drubbing we put on the Giants in the playoffs. In the last 6+ quarters they've been outscored 71-7.
In the cowgirl fans are you stroking their egos.
They literally JV team
Your incoherent, juvenile posts are mesmerizing. “Cowgirls/Cowturds” just as the “Fecals/Iggles” monikers are so played out, even for a 12 year old. You should let the adults on here talk- even if it’s between rivals, because discussions are good.
We need more of your reports on how overrated Micah Parsons (probable DPOY) is, and how bad Jalen Hurts (potentially the MVP) is going to fail. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Minnesota defense is really bad. I expect our offense to be light years better on Thursday.

Crossing my fingers on the health of Bradberry (probably in concussion protocol) and Cox being available for Thursday on a short week. I think Dean has no shot (and might be at least a 6-8 week thing, since he was in a boot after the game.)

Being down those 3 guys, especially a starting CB, worries me no matter how bad the MIN defense might be.

As of now, I agree. Fans of all three teams must love being in the weak NFC instead of the stacked AFC.

Our playoff game vs. the Giants suggested their progress was overstated, and last night's game confirmed it. They simply can't hang with good teams, and there are much more of them on their schedule this year than there were last year.

The Vikings also appear to be frauds again, and hopefully that will be confirmed on Thursday, with the return of "primetime Kirk Cousins".

So when did Gainwell become not just the featured back, but the featured offensive player? The majority of the "scripted plays" were all him. Why?

Very puzzling. I'm hoping it was just overthinking things because of the weather. Maybe they thought his running style was the best suited for it and that going run heavy in the rain would give them some advantage. Reminded me of CHI last season where they were afraid to pass the ball in the cold/wind. Sometimes you just have to go with your best weapons and not try to outsmart the elements.

For FF, I tried to avoid the Eagles RB situation but so did my entire league and I couldn't resist taking Swift in the 15th round when filling out my bench, as a flyer. When I saw Penny being scratched I knew that probably meant Gainwell was at least getting half the snaps so I picked him up right before the game just in case it would become clear in this game how they planned to use them. But after what we saw, I still have no idea how things are going to play out, just that Gainwell being the workhorse with Swift barely seeing the field is not the answer.

It's prob going to be a shootout but we should be able to pressure cousins

I'm totally confused on the Gainwell usage. They went to him too much, and he did very little (because he's the definition of JAG, in my opinion.). Why bring in Penny and Swift and then feed Gainwell while scratching Penny and basically not giving Swift a chance. Its baffling.

Yeah. A lot of the playcalling last night was baffling. We were feeding Gainwell like he was prime LT, when he is at best, a rotational piece. Hopefully some lessons were learned bc the offense looked bland, predictable and not well executed.

The best explanation I've heard so far, from ESP, is that this early in the season Gainwell was the only one they fully trusted with the playbook. But if that's the case, then who's at fault for not getting the new guys up to speed in time for the beginning of the season?

I can somewhat understand scratching Penny if they wanted to carry just the three backs, but the lack of involvement of Swift is inexcusable to me. After all of the discussion of him lining up in the slot, did he lineup as a WR at all?

Dean missing at least a month (we heard this before about Maddox's foot injury that also didn't require surgery and it turned into 2+ months), but Cox was negative for any broken ribs so he has a chance to play.

Nothing yet on Bradberry.

I don't know, but i think the top 3 in the NFC can handle the top 3 in the AFC. not saying if they play 10 games they go 10-0, just saying that i think comparing the NFC and AFC is a little over-exaggerated.

of couese this is a week 1 take, and we have a ton of football left to see. if 49ers and Cowboys can show 80% of what they did this past Sunday, i stand by the above that the NFC top 3 might be better than the AFC top 3.

Minnesota defense is really bad. I expect our offense to be light years better on Thursday. New England has a nice defense and their offense looked better than most of last year.

I think they might be better than most people think
They're definitely going to be tougher. Just having O'Brien over Patricia as the OC is light years ahead of where they were last year. But talent wise, I don't think they can hang with the big dogs of the AFC.

I wonder what happens first. Pats get a better QB or BB retires.

I agree with your first sentence. I was talking about the rest of the NFC vs the rest of the AFC.

thinking about the game the day after is always a lot more objective and clearer. I think i feel better about the game today, and there are some pluses to take out of it. With the short week and probably a more important game for the Eagles considering the playoff seeding, i think we can get a clearer picture of the Eagles offense.

1) definitely tough to face BB and his defensive scheming game 1 because now teams coming up have an idea of how to attack this offense. Attacking the middle of the field and the LBs seems kind of obvious and it stinks a bit with Dean being out as he is missing out on some more reps to see i he can improve as the season goes on. Hoping the kid from the Titans can step in on Thursday. I think Ellis and Campbell can do ok, but will need to not play all the reps. With Bradberry likely out, the idea of trying more nickel or dime kind of goes out the window. Will be interesting how Desai prepares

2) i can't remember which post game interview it was, but I think 1 or 2 of the guys was talking about how the defense was throwing different looks all the time, and mixing things up pre-snap. I know BB does that with young QBs and always seems to have an edge over them, so considering i think Jalen did ok. Great news for Hurts is we all know he is a competitor so i have no doubt we will see a better version on Thursday.

3) Excited to see how the DL does on Thursday. Reddick was particularly quiet, and i wonder if his injury is going to hamper him for awhile. I think the conditions did effect them a bit, and overall i think they handled it well.

4) i am sure i will be betting Hockenson over and Addison overs on Thursday. Just don't see how those 2 can be slowed down with Jobe and Evans probably set to cover them. I am not sure what role. I wonder if they will try to use Maddox in different roles to offer some support and guesses for the offense.

5) With this, the Eagles will need to put some points up, so hopefully Hurts will be throwing more. i know everybody was calling for more runs on Sunday, but I would rather see them test the Minny young CBs and keep the throttle on, knowing they can't sit on a lead and run the clock out with the injuries they have on defense

Per rap sheet

In the first game for Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris, there will be more than half-price hot dogs and increased usage of Legends Plaza:
-- Legends like Sonny Jurgenson and Champ Bailey, plus celebs like Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid, will be there.
-- There was a $40M investment in infrastructure and new food vendors.
-- The home opener is sold out and total revenue is up 30%.

We all might be changing our jets predictions soon

Even if Rodgers only has something like a high ankle sprain and misses a month the Jets season is toast. They have a brutal first 6 weeks. With Rodgers, they might have gone 3-3, without him, they're going to be 1-5, 0-6 going into their BYE. At that point, you're playing for next season.

Tone deaf is one way to describe this photo. Which fans are more offended. Philly Sports Fans, #Eagles fans, or #Sixers fans. Can’t figure who is more asinine. Owner of #Commanders and #76ers Josh Harris for asking Sixers Joel Embiid to appear at Commanders home opener as ambassador for a rival Philly team or Embiid for agreeing to do it. A Sixer is insulting to his biggest fan base when supporting a rival of Eagles. Does anybody in Philadelphia even respect or like Josh Harris? Clearly #Tonedeaf.

I don't care if Embiid supported him for his new NFL team. The Wizards don't exactly have any players that Harris could have asked to come (not even sure he'd be allowed to contact them either).

pool Kuzma and Galinari possible. Also make a call to Ovechkun. Nba player thing yeah not sure. Just not a good look when you gotharper here supporting. First signs of struggle by Joel and fans will latch onto this though.

Ugly win. Didn’t see anything in that game that instills confidence in this team. Hope it’s just Week 1 rust.
The best HC of all time had months of preparation, against 2 brand new coordinators, with no pre-season action for starters, on the road and in the rain.

The writing was on the wall for this one to look poor. Assuming the injuries stay minimal we should get better and better each week in offense.

The defense worries me a bit though.

My takeaways from Eagles game
Jalen Carter was a draft day steal. Looked amazing

Jalen Hurts gave himself up very early on runs to the point where he didn’t try to extend the play on some occasions. Overall the offense looked a little vanilla. Could be because of their lead but will be interesting to monitor.

Secondary looked concerning. Lots of open holes a good receiving corps would have exploited.

Where was Goedert?

AJ Brown and Devonta Smith together are going to cause a lot of problems.

My biggest concern is LB. I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt but it's pretty bad right now. TEs are going to feast on the middle all year which I guess they'll take as long as it's not 50 yard bombs. Don't like it though.

One thing that I'm noticing on the twitter/X vid cut ups is that Jordan Davis appears improved in his pass rushing prowess. And conditioning. Nothing crazy, but if he can keep it up, the quartet of Carter/Davis/Cox/Milton Williams probably is easily the deepest DT rotation in the league.

LB and Safety are a a concern for sure though. Sydney Brown - we just need to get him in, ramped up and as many lessons/errors out of the way so we can grow. Justin Evans is *not* it.

Rashaan Evans on the PS, expected to be called up pretty quickly to the active roster is my guess. Not sure if he will get in for this Thursday game though.

Agreed on all points- Dline looks good, potentially great. LB and S look not so great, outside of Blankenship.

What happened to Edmonds? Did he fall off the planet? Only got 10 snaps? Evans is bad to middling. Let Sydney Brown play!

All of this they still won the game and won against the spread.

Yeah I was just happy we won. It wouldn't have shocked me if they had won the game.

Ceedy locker room interview today

dude cracks me up - elite trash talker and a nice replacement for Jamaal Williams as the reporter's favorite player to interview
that's as coherent and mature as i ever heard him. he must have hired a pr coach or something, love everything he said (on Lion's behalf anyway) and hilarious. quite sad he's over there and not over here especially seeing what the new Eagles secondary is looking like now. he's gonna have a great career.

cross posted here bc he still holds Philly fans in the highest regard; the business end takes you different places but he's had nothing but great things to say about his time with the Eagles

Campbell & Aaron Glenn had him in New Orleans, kind of an underrated get (maybe bc it came late in the process & is just a 1 year merc deal) - he's taken over the DB room and loves mentoring Brian Branch & Kerby Joseph

he annoys the **** of other teams lol

I haven’t looked at the snap counts but Davis seemed to be on the field way more than last year

Dude's insane, but I want him on my team.

35 snaps for Davis on Sunday. His high last year was 29, with 24 being his second-most.

I guess his injury definitely affected him last year. I forgot about that. He was in the 20s for 5 of his first 7 games, then much lower after he came back. Still it was encouraging to see how many he played.

Going to be one of the Eagles worst decisions if they don’t resign him next year if given the chance

When he went down they signed Suh and Joseph, so by the time he got back it was a crowded interior.

Crap! Jeff McLane just posted that both Blankenship and Gainwell are not expected to play tomorrow. Both of them sitting hurts, but Blankenship out will have a huge impact, especially with Bradberry likely out, too.

Fletch is likely to play, which is good.

If I wasn't working tomorrow night, I'd be cooking ribs.
