2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (2 Viewers)

Wish we played that chiefs team in the superbowl. Would have beaten them by 3 scores
Would have been a riotous offseason from rival fans if that were the case. Not only would we have been so lucky to play the easiest schedule in professional sports history to get to the Super Bowl, the easiest playoff matchups that we should have lost, but won anyway and then, we would have won a Super Bowl against a team without the best tight end in football history as well as one of the best defensive tackles in the entire league.

I see a lot of people predicting a loss to the Jets. They are 12-0 lifetime against them. I guess they're bound to lose to them at some point.
my two cents on that game, i have that as a win but that spot in the schedule worries me. comes back home after a west coast trip to the rams, prime time game the week after against Miami and then the toughest part of the schedule after that for the following 6 games. 3 of those 6 games are divisional and two are against the Cowboys. The Jets game is a game we should easily win, and that's what worries me. will the team look ahead a bit too much? I think one of @Rams or @Jets will be a early letdown game, especially if we steamroll through Buccs & Commanders like I think we will. winning ugly is still a win though.

I can’t give this one enough likes.

Also, rings.

Rams game worries me because it’s back-to-back road games, and a trip to the West Coast.

The week before the Philly game the Jets have to fly out to Denver for a game. So there really isn't any disadvantage to Philly having to play in LA.

The Jets schedule is brutal to start: BUF, @DAL, NE, KC, @Den, PHL

Yeah, playing @Meadowlands is almost a home game, too. I really was worrying about crapping the bed against the Rams on a West Coast swing. On paper, I think they should beat the Rams, but… ya never know.

I honestly think top-to-bottom the Jets’ Defense is better than ours. But Philly’s Offense is better than theirs. Can ARodg make the difference? I dunno, but there are some great match-ups in that game.

I’d rather drop one to the the Jets than one of say: SF, SEA, LAR, or any of our divisional rivals. But, that Jets game starts the really hard work portion of the schedule that last like 7 games.

If they had a division game or KC or SF or some look ahead game the week following the Rams I might be concerned. But the Jets are a non-division opponent who the Eagles have no recent history with.

I don't do predictions, but wanted to have some fun. With tongue firmly in cheek, here is what my crystal ball is showing me:

W1: @ NE W - By halftime NE is getting beaten so badly they change gears and honor Jalen Hurts instead of Brady.
W2: MIN (TNF) W - Leading up to the game, Reagor vows to show what the Eagles missed out on by trading him. He proceeds to drop two TD passes and muffs a punt, indeed showing the Eagles what they're missing out on.
W3: @ TB (MNF) W - Baker Mayfield? Seriously?
W4: WSH W - Fun fact: Since Snyder took over the team has had more names than playoff wins.
W5: @ LAR W - Eagles fans take over the stadium, parking lot, and a good portion of Hollywood prompting the immediate greenlight of three more Rocky sequels.
W6: @ NYJ W - Rodgers begins to wonder if it's too soon to throw his teammates and coaches under the bus or if he should just retire and chase his true passion, starting a conspiracy theory podcast.
W7: MIA (SNF) W - I just feel bad for Tua. :frown:
W8: @ WSH W - The new ownership decides the Commanders is a really stupid name and let attending fans decide a new one. Unfortunately for them, it's another Eagles takeover. They are now the Washington ********s. Still less offensive than Redskins.
W9: DAL W - Someone is injured on Dallas and is the reason they lose, or so we'll be told repeatedly.
W10: Bye bye bye, BYE BYE!
W11: @ KC (MNF) W - The KC grounds crew tries it's best to recreate the Super Bowl turf. It backfires horrible as Shady comes out of retirement and is the only player to get any kind of traction. He ends the days with 235 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
W12: BUF W - Real talk, I like the Bills. Feel bad for them. They give me a real Philly vibe with the tough breaks they've had since '90. Fortunately, the Eagles don't give a crap about that and pick off Allen 4 times.
W13: SF W - The Niners Super Bowl! Despite a valiant performance by current Hall of Famer Brock Purdy, his 196 yards, 1 TD and 3 ints isn't enough and he falls just short by 35 points.
W14: @ DAL (SNF?) W - Hurts decides to sit this one out to even the playing field. Mariota leads the team to victory with 4 rushing touchdowns. Opposing fans complain about the 1950's college offense that they are completely unable to stop.
W15: @ SEA W - After already playing in KC, the Eagles laugh at the 12th man BS and overcome the piped in crowd noise. Also, are we really buying the Geno Smith late blooming?
W16: NYG (Xmas Monday) W - Sirianni tells the team it's the Giants' fault they're playing on Christmas. Danny Dimes earns his nickname by taking 10 sacks.
W17: ARI (NYE) W - Hurts completes over 80% of his passes. Enduring a double digit loss season, Gannon lies during his post-game presser, doing his best to convince everyone that they had a good season and are playoff-bound. He makes up stories about how it's just the fans and media being mean to him. He's fired immediately after the game and asked to stay in Philly. Philly politely declines.
W18: @ NYG W - Giants need a win to make the playoffs. Eagles refuse to rest their starters to remain perfect despite clinching the one seed weeks ago. Giants complain for months and the irony is lost on them.

They go on to win the Super Bowl and the remaining '72 Dolphins are forbidden from ever drinking champagne again.

Reposting this for a prediction, just in case, Even though I'm already wrong about the Reagor thing. As for points scored, I'll say all of them.

Realistically, I said Pigskins before the whole Commanders nonsense. You keep the skins moniker and bring it back to the Hogs that have a history with the team. But who knows.

Not sure if this is any type of sign about how the seasons gonna go, but I just broke my elbow last night in a bike accident surgery this week. I asked the strain. in my groin in my groin so worst part of it. My elbow feels fine. Just Stiff right now.

Rain last night coming home from work. Try to avoid some bushes on Sidewalk that became white from the storms, ended up going into the grass on the sidewalk before the street falling over and getting hurt

At least I won’t miss any Eagles games right now for the next couple of months lol

Jay Glazer just reported on the fox pregame that five teams try to trade for Joey Bosa this off-season do to contract situation. Have to feel how he was on those guys digging.

Penny healthy scratch today.
Wow

Not surprised, I called it in the Penny player thread. Once the Eagles announced that Siposs and Covey were being called up from PS, it guaranteed that Scott would be suiting up to do KR. The Eagles can only call a player up 3 times before they have to add them to the active roster so they have some decisions to make the next couple of weeks.

I forget what I typed originally, I'm sure it was something along the lines of MFers.

I'm surprised. How import is a KR now when they can just fair catch it anywhere and take it at the 25, which this team should absolutely be doing every time. I would think anyone can fair catch it. What does Boston really bring to the table except his name matches the city they're playing in today (well, close enough, anyway)?

Wtf was up with swift. Killed one of my lineups

I can't believe anyone would've drafted an Eagles RB this year. This week it was Gainwell. Thursday it could be Penny. The next week Swift. It's not worth the headache trying to figure out how these backs are going to be used. I would have bet the house that Swift would have gotten 10 carries today. He got 1 carry and 2 targets in the pass game.

He was a flex. But I thought he would get some.carries. some targets. One freaking touch. Cmon

Really kind of baffled by what happened with the offense. Maybe it was just a combination of a lot of things (new coordinator, first game, bad weather, belichick’s scheme) but man they were lucky to get those 2 gift turnovers.

The offensive line seemed pretty poor.

But I guess a win is a win, so we should just accept it and hope for better next week

It did seem the weather effected the first half. Then they go pass heavy when they needed to bleed clock towards the end. I thought it was odd

Interesting comment by Nick in the postgame presser saying he will likely change up the approach next pre-season after this game

  • So when did Gainwell become not just the featured back, but the featured offensive player? The majority of the "scripted plays" were all him. Why?
  • Still don't get Scott playing over Penny.
  • Do we need to put Goedert on a milk carton?
  • Special teams still stink, who could have predicted that? Oh right, everyone.
  • Injury luck has already swung against them and the weakest position may have gotten worse. TEs will feast on them if they don't change things up.
  • Jalen Carter looks good. Like stupid good.
  • But an ugly win is better than a pretty loss. Short week to wash this out and start fresh. Hope it was just rust from the players and jitters from the new coordinators.
