Robinson was still pretty good at catching passes in traffic last year, and in 2021 with the Bears, both teams just had QBs who stopped throwing them. He looked good with Trubisky in 2020, and while that is an unrealistic expectation in Pittsburgh, he can still be at least a solid #3 WR, really #4 pass catcher, behind Freiermuth as well, who is probably their best actual weapon. Robinson also is one of the better run blockers at WR in the NFL, which is a small thing, but something Pickens struggled with.We are about to get Allen Robinson????
Talk about a trade from left field. So many questions.
What are we giving? How much salary are the Rams eating? Why add another outside WR?
It is a somewhat interesting add, as a YAC WR would seemingly be a bigger need. All 3 of Pickens, Johnson, and Robinson, finished in the bottom 15 WRs in YAC, with Pickens and Robinson both in the bottom 5. As I said, Robinson can still catch in traffic, and both Pickett and Trubisky were among the league leaders in drops per attempt, signaling that it was less a QB issue and more a pass catcher issue, its always been a Johnson issue, only Freiermuth finished above average in drop%, even Najee was kind of a mess drop wise last year.
Feels like a low risk, medium reward kind of move. Personally, I think it makes more sense than spending another day 2 pick on a pass catcher.
