2024-25 NBA Thread: ESPN ready to debate if Warriors blowing 3-1 lead to meager Rockets diminishes LeBron’s legacy (16 Viewers)

17 free throws in the last 34 seconds of the Bos / Cle game. Finishing with 1/2 an hour of stoppage and FT's? Yuck. That is a crap product.
The last few minutes of most hockey games is the best part. The last few minutes of basketball games tends to be the worst part.

1) Elam Ending
2) Make all trips to the line 1 free throw (worth 1, 2, or 3 depending on the foul)

When you're playing the likes of McDaniels, Divincenzo, and Alexander-Walker over Reid, TSJ and Dillingham, you deserve to lose and suck.

Sad to see. Tons of talent. Terrific 2024 draft (arguably the best IMO). Garbage coaching playing inferior players. But they're "vets". GLWT

That TSJ can't even get off the bench for the likes of Divincenzo, McDaniels, Alexander-Walker is FN laughable. As is Dillingham playing 8 minutes/game.
Also McDaniels and NAW are pretty good. McDaniels hasn't had a great start to his year but he is all-defense for a reason. Walker is a bit inconsistent but he is a really good bench player who can bring elite defense for stretches and has some really good offensive games.
Walker has been one of their most consistent players this year—is leading the team in plus/minus by a fair margin—and mathematically—the Wolves best lineups tend to feature him. The Wolves will be okay once they get back to their identity. The Wolves were great last year because they were a punishing team. You had big guys like KAT and Gobert coupled with an athletic and explosive freak like ANT that loved attacking the basket with a vigor. When they traded KAT away and got Randle and Donte—-the key was that Randle and Gobert needed to play their parts in getting to the basket—and Ant still needed to use his explosiveness to get to the hoop, catch Gobert on a lob, or pass it out to guys that can hit open 3’s like Donte, Naw, Ingles, or Mcdaniels. One of the issues with the Wolves its hat Ant is shooting and hitting more 3’s. While this might look good on paper—I think it’s bad for the identity and the dynamic of the team. If Ant is going to effectively make himself more of a perimeter player—it transforms the Wolves from being a punishing team into a perimeter team—which is not the best recipe for their success. I think they are a talented team and I do think that they can figure things out. The link below is about NAW and some of his/team metrics when he’s on the court. He’s A LOT better than what a lot of people in here give him credit for.

Don't look now but the Rockets are 2nd in the West. Really impressive start. Sengun has stepped up his defensive prowess and All-Star worthy for the way he can take over games. Loved seeing the +/- leaders in the NBA and him being 3rd behind SGA and Tatum.

Amen has also been sensational. I doubt the stat sheet will tell the whole story of how he effects games. Definitely 1st team All Defense at this point. Easily one of my favorite players to watch for all the things he does off ball.
Amen 🙏

Best on ball defender in the game right now IMO. Guy's a future star on an absolutely loaded team. He'd be a walking triple double in other situations. If he continues to improve his mid-range & outside, he's going to be a superstar. One of my favorite players to watch play in the league. Straight dawg that is a championship level player you want on your team. Scottie Pippen's kid actually plays in Houston...

If I'm trying to rebuild and unload a current superstar, Amen is at the top of guys I'd want to build a package with to start a rebuild. I'm actually hoping the Suns would/will explore it as they're going nowhere now as constructed. If I'm the Rockets, no shot in hell I'd deal him. Would easily be the dumbest trade involving a "6th man" since James Harden

Yeah, I don't think Sengoat or Amen will be part of any trade. I've been hearing a lot of rumors about De'Aaron Fox lately. I'd imagine some combo of Jalen and/or Jabari plus most of those PHX picks would get it done.
I don't think it would.

Tonight should be a good one. Will be my first time seeing the Kings this year. Really thought they'd be better with Derozan but probably just figuring things out. If they don't, always a good time to abandon ship and trade Fox for Van Vleet imo.

The problem is they only have like 7 NBA players, Brown inexplicably doesn’t start Ellis, and Keegan has been awful offensively. They’ve been real bad for the last ten games or so and I’m not ruling out that they’ll blow everything up this year. I love Fox and he’s been awesome but I could see an argument for selling high on him if they aren’t in the playoff race.

So here’s how things are looking in the East:

1 - Milwaukee - 4-0, +50
2 - New York - 4-0, +30
3 - Atlanta - 3-1, +15
4 - Orlando - 3-1, +45 - Wild card

Right now, barring some major comebacks by Utah or SA, here is the situation in the West:

If Dallas wins - Houston, GS, OKC, Dallas

If Dallas loses - Houston, GS, OKC, Phoenix

Phoenix would need to have a +23 point better differential to pass Dallas if they both win.

If SA comes back to beat Phoenix, they win the group then the wildcard comes down to OKC vs Dallas.

SA making a comeback. If they win, Dallas would need to win by at least 4 points to pass up OKC for the wildcard.

Love his game. His jumper is so pure. Single handedly keeping SAC in this. With Houston, you never know who is going to make the shots.

Looks like OKC wins their group and Dallas gets the wildcard with a big comeback. Seeding pending the Hou and GS games.

Wow, some crazy finishes turned things into a close final seeding in the west. Here’s what I have.

1 - Houston - 3–1, +46
2 - Oklahoma City - 3-1, +45
3 - Golden State 3-1, +8
4 - Dallas - 3-1, +46 - wildcard

I must have something wrong. Seeing some people saying OKC #1 seed and Hou #2. I’ll have to check my math in the morning.

You guys looked like the Kings of old as the game progressed. That's kind of what I expected this season. Seemed like the Dillon Brooks kerfuffle really lit a fuse/beam under their ***.

yeah, I have OKC over HOU in point differential

Magic took that "just don't lose by 30+" a little too close to the heart. What a game to not show up for. They want to be taken seriously but then lay that egg.

I haven't watched it yet, but the Rockets melted down. Udoka will get fined at minimum for losing his mind and Eason may get disciplined for trying to go into the crowd.

I figured out why my math was off - this was driving me crazy because all the scores were matching up.

I forgot that this year, they decided to not include any points scored in overtime for points scored for/against and point differential. So the 6 point overtime win for Houston over Minnesota counts as a win for Houston, but for point differential basically shows as a tie.

after a horrific start that made me question our front office and coaching staff the bucks have crawled back to 11 and 9 so i eat some humble pie here they are fun to watch in spurts and i guess i owe doc and horst an apology i hope that they will forgive me take that to the bank brohans

Brohan, it was 25 degrees this morning when I walked the best doggo that's ever been a doggo and I reached up into my coat closet to retrieve a warm, skull cap. To my great pleasure, it was the Milwaukee Bucks' skull cap with a pride rainbow on it that was given to me by our GB @CletiusMaximus and I felt nice and warm on my walk and thought man, ain't it cool that 'ol Cletius sent this to me BEFORE Dame Dolla became a Buck and now we're Buck brothers and I'd take that to the bank.

that is a hell of a hat and i wish i had one now i am going to see them play the old fireballers in a few weeks and i will see if i can get me one and then we can wear them at the same time thousands of miles apart and be brohans from other mothrans take that to the brochachos

Luka got another extremely weak technical. Idk how Draymond has made it through any season ever without like 40.
who do we think are the refs most hated current current current current players both draymond and luka have to be way up at the top of the list chris paul is probably on the mount rushmore who else take that to the bank brohans

Bill Laimbeer, Bruce Bowen, and my beloved KG (he yapped a lot to the refs) come to mind. Oh, and Charles Oakley.

I knew that they made this change, but still not totally sure why. I thought they wanted to discourage pointlessly running up the score, but does much of that happen in OT? I think someone had proposed using only the first 3 quarters score, though that seems a little extreme.

I think it’s because points for is the next tiebreaker after differential.

Sheed is #1 all time, IMO.

Technically Barkley had more Ts per game and Karl Malone had more overall.

Heat have scored 126 on the Lakers and there is 4 minutes left.

Man the NBA is such hot garbage. No wonder I have not watched most of the league in the last 4 years. I have continued to follow my Heat but that’s getting harder and harder.

Dumpster fire of a league. Enjoy it guys…..I left a while ago.

How can you guys enjoy this crap anymore?

Can’t wait till March is here so we can watch some real drama in the college game.

Whatever turns you on man.

The league is a shadow of the game I used to love. Been watching the NBA since 1978.

These last 5-6 years or so has really lost me.

It sucks.

You are upset that they are scoring so much?

Just pop in your VHS tape of a Knicks/Pacers game from the mid 90's and I'm sure you'll be in heaven.

I've seen a bunch of 50-42 NCAA games that are faaaarrrrrr more brutal to watch than a throw away mid-season NBA game. Comparing a random mid-season NBA game to an NCAA tournament game is pretty disingenuous, no?

That's ok. Nobody asked you to come post here though. Not sure what joy anyone gets from ****ting on something in a group where they obviously like it.

I'm not running around talking about how dumb it is to think I'm still ten years old and try to make the perfect game setting sliders for NHL or MLB video games or anything, ya know?

I mean you don’t have to like the nba of course but the college game is god awful propped up by a tremendously awesome two week tournament.

College basketball now is the worst of any major or college ‘big’ sport.

Men’s college basketball is the worst. The women’s game has more continuity and star power.

The excitement of March Madness is unreal….I do agree the quality of the play is nothing like the NBA….but it’s wild.

Look there are some amazing players in the NBA….but the game is almost unwatchable in the regular season now…..and it simply has lost all its luster for me.

If you still love it god bless you. But this is not the same league at all compared to the Magic/Bird and Jordan Era’s which were simply amazing. I even loved the 2000’s as well.

But since 2018 and beyond it went in a direction I don’t connect with anymore.

Oh man piss off…..now yer being a doosh.

I made an observation on a game I tried to watch and how quickly it was…..unwatchable because of just how bad defense has become in the NBA.
