2024-25 NBA Thread: for the second time, somebody in Dallas hits low percentage shot that leads to a generation of conspiracy theories (133 Viewers)

This is why I hate how the salary cap is structured in the NBA. The Celtics should be how the front offices want to do business. Draft well and develop, make good trades, sign a timely free agent or two and compete.

Instead you get to pay a bazillion dollars in luxury tax because other front office's suck at their job.

There has to be a better way.

Would be interested in the list of teams you think would pursue him.
I think there are several teams that can send back 20 -25 million instead of nothing which saves Boston luxury tax, while giving that team someone to fill a role. As an example, the Bulls could send back expiring deals like Huerter and Dosunmu for Holiday. Boston then spins one of those guys somewhere else for an even smaller contract. I think teams will view Holiday as a neutral asset who can provide defense and leadership for the next 3 years. Maybe I am way off, but I wouldn't just be looking at his points per game as reason why nobody would want him

Jrue Holiday will not be a Spur, never with that contract, nor any other Celtic. Actually, looks like y'all have done a nice job developing Kornet. I think he would fit nicely with the Spurs emerging roster.

Imagine getting Derrick White!
Trust the process.

Your process is getting lucky and landing generational talents at 1.01 when you do get lucky.
'A' for effort.

Pelicans trade AD to the Lakers and get the #1 pick the next year.

Mavericks trade Luka to the Lakers and get the #1 pick the next year.

The lesson for other NBA teams: trade your stars to the Lakers if you want to win the draft lottery. (Looking at you, Bucks)

Be nice if other small market teams had some of this luck.

Kings lose Fox, don't get Castle, get the terrible Lavine contract, lose their pick to ATL, stuck with 95 year ball stopper Derozan as the center piece of their offense.

Sad how quickly they went from an exciting franchise to a nothing Bulls West squad going absolutely nowhere

I don’t see how the Spurs could match salaries for Giannis either. Vassell, Johnson, Barnes…Bucks wouldn’t want them.
I think getting Dylan Harper back and they'll be taking them or getting moved to 3rd team.

They get Harper cost controlled for a few years.

I don't think there's any way the Spurs go into season with all 3 of Harper-Castle-Fox.

GB Fat Max would have been so upset over all of this. He loved this team and in short order, they're irrelevant again. Sad.

The spot that Miami would've been in had they tanked vs ATL in the play-in.

Ouch.

More tough luck:

The Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft lottery with the ping pong ball combination of 10-14-11-7.
- The Blazers would have won if the last ball had been 6.
- The Wizards would have won if the last ball had been 1.

Found an even worse close call.

Bulls lost the coin toss with the Mavs in the lottery order.

Mavs - #1 pick
Bulls - #12 pick
