2024-25 NBA Thread: Steve Kerr was right all along (19 Viewers)

Honestly, if you could trade porter for whatever at neutral value if possible and keep kcp at that contract would be better.
Porter is 100% overpaid, but they need his shooting so bad. KCP is a good shooter but somewhat reluctant.

They need shooting so incredibly bad now. They have three reliable shooters in Murray, Jokic, and Strawther. It seems to be assumed that Braun will start, but I think it might be Strawther because they'll need shooting more than defense.

CP3 might be old, but I feel like he may be able to do some things with Wemby.
What a great fit for Wemby. Even if they don’t make the playoffs or whatever he’ll just raise their floor and give Wemby somebody who can run the offense.
Or he’ll dribble around and take fall-away midrange jumpers as the shot clock expires and Wemby waves his hands at the block.

If Sixers sign PG, they get the extra bonus of making the Clippers worse, since they own a couple future Clippers picks.

Nani Marshall for 3/27 to the mavs seems like a pretty good deal for them. No idea where this leaves them with DJj or Klay
Sounds like it would make keeping DJJ tougher, but that they could still trade for Klay using the THJ trade exception. They’d have to probably shed some more salary to do it though.

He was a much better player at the time but Paul was also an awesome mentor to SGA when he was in OKC - I really like that for the Spurs.

Kings are working on a trade with the Pelicans for Brandon Ingram. Not sure how he’d fit with Fox and Sabonis.
The only report I’ve seen on this was a hoops hype guy saying there have been exploratory talks. No one discusses deals without following through on any of them more than McNair.

How the turntables have turned.

Derrick Jones Jr signs with Clippers for 3/$30m. Another one I thought was going to be a for a larger amount.

In Morey you trust. Harden almost took him down but he's recovered nicely. I miss him in Houston.

Now I'm just curious if Embiid finds a way to screw this up.

Maxey-Paul George-Embiid is an intriguing big three. I'm sure it will fail hilariously at some point, but it looks better than a lot of what they've tried to do around Embiid.
They gotta go for it but Embiid and George have serious injury histories. Just gotta get them to May healthy though and they’ll have a shot.

So does Paul Reed start at the 4 to do all the dirty work?
Seems like that would be a terrible waste of his offensive versatility. Hopefully they can package Reed with draft picks and get a decent power forward. Otherwise they'll probably just waive his nonguaranteed contract, and use the cap dollars to shop for cheap frontcourt depth. Oshae Brissett, Caleb Martin, Nic Batum, Marcus Morris are some of the names I'm most interested in.

If your goal is to maybe win a first round playoff series every other year or so I guess
At some point, they pretty much have to be considered as overdue to make a conference finals. Since they lost in the Finals in 00-01, PHI has missed the playoffs 9 times, lost in the first round 7 times, and lost in the 2nd round 7 times.

You need to look at what he had to work with in Houston. Always made something out of nothing and then somehow finagled that nothing into James Harden. Granted nothing would have been better than middling in the NBA but I was always impressed with the rag tag crew of junk he'd put together for results. 14 years and never a losing record in a non destination city is crazy.

Now he has a solid nucleus of studs and should be able to figure out the tertiary players to surround them with. My only issue with the team is Embiid's mental. I'm not sure he has the testicular fortitude needed for a championship.

I don't understand how anyone who watched Embiid playing hurt throughout the playoffs this past season could question his testicular fortitude. Clearly limited by his knee injury and dealing with the Bell's palsy, but still battling.
