2024 College Football Thread: Ohio State advances to play unbeaten hypothetical SEC team (2 Viewers)

Huge Boise fan the rest of the way.

Coworker's son got an invite to watch the BSU/NEV game last weekend - a few of his teammates joined him. I'd love it if BSU offered him (he's a junior, but plays with the Oregon Offensive Player of the Year at LO who DOES have an offer from BSU among other schools) so I'm rooting for 'em too (well, not when they play Oregon, but I know why you root for them. ;))
Yea, I'm a Beaver, but I have ton of family in Boise area. My mom grew up there. So I know a lot of Boise fans. I always root for em unless they're playing the Beavs. Also, Nike U is the evil empire as far as I'm concerned......in the Willamette valley all the sudden everyone is a duck fan! Lol
Evil empire lol, jealousy is strong in this one

How can they not show a replay of that false start?!? Announcers say the defender "got away with one", but can't give us one single look at what happened?
I think they meant the false start was another player, not the one that the defense initiated contact with. A tight end moved not the guard. Don’t know why they did not show a replay.

IU getting exposed. They look like they believed their own hype a bit too much.

Question now is how far they fall? Their wins were a house of cards and tOSU is the first team with a pulse they’ve played.

How much should they fall? #5 on the road at #2 - I don’t think they fall that far. They stay in the to ten for sure, right?

Possibly not. This week would have been an affirmation of the 10-0 if it were close.

With it as it is, it might be hard to keep them in. Could be more of a BYU fall down the ranks to be barely in or just out.

Even if they lose today, what an amazing season for IU!

Because the punter dropped a snap and they gave up a kick 6? Ohio St clearly the better team but the game feels more competitive than the score.

It really has been kind of close, though. That kick return by OSU when it was 14-7 and then the big play on their next drive broke it open.

In other news, Iowa/Maryland is providing all of the fireworks the nation expected

Well consider tOSU also botched a few red zone opportunities too. Remember at the half they were saying it should already be a blowout and IU was lucky to be down only 7.

Second half has made that worse. I think the score doesn’t reflect how overmatched IU has been. They cannot catch or protect their QB.

Ohio State has the ball around midfield after both punts if there isn’t a TD or a muff. Acting like Ohio State wouldn’t have scored on those two drives is kind of silly. You can’t just take away two drives that would have started probably in IU territory and say Ohio State gets no points.

IU hasn’t scored since their first drive and they are literally running the clock out so they don’t lose by more. 8 minutes left and you are down 3 TDs and 2 pointers and you give up? That says a lot to me to be honest if I’m the playoff committee.

Who acted like that?

Can we assume OSU scores inside the 5 yard line? Because they didn't early in the game. I just stated what actually happened. You can play what if scenarios if you want. I already said OSU was clearly the better team.

On the other hand, it's going to be hilarious when Ohio St scoring at the end costs the Big Ten a fourth playoff team and the SEC gets 5 in there.

Who cares, stop somebody if you don’t want them to run it up. Although yeah, probably just cost the conference a few million.

Unless Florida can hang on and knock out one of these two loss SEC teams here.

That was dumb at the end. RB slides at the 1 so they can run the clock out, but OSU does 2 QB sneaks to score?

Kinda jerk move, no?
Meh, I’m fine with it. Indiana acting like pussies at the end to try and make the score look better by running the game out instead of trying to actually comeback? If you give up to try and make a big loss look closer just so you look better for the playoffs with no good wins, you get what you deserve.

I'm planting my flag now - 5 SEC teams (out of 7 possible SEC/at large spots) in the 12 with 2.5 weeks left to go.

Georgia (wins out, loses in SEC championship), Texas (loses to A&M), Tenn (wins out, not in SEC champ), Alabama (wins out, beats GA in SEC champ), Ole Miss (wins out, not in SEC champ). If I have the scenarios right, ND has to lose to Army and A&M loses to Auburn. Would rather see South Carolina but hard to see how it happens with the SMU/BYU duo.

This post aging like unpasteurized milk.

Buh-bye Ole Miss. Lol

SEC still has a shot at 5 teams if A&M beats Texas and Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee don't lose again except the SEC championship game. Or if Notre Dame loses.

So is the playoff shaping up to be...

Byes- Oregon, Ohio St, Penn St*, SEC winner
Home game- Notre Dame, 2 of Texas / Georgia / Alabama, ACC winner
Road game- Boise (bump up to home game if Clemson wins ACC), Tennessee, Big 12 winner, Indiana

A&M or Army can win their way in and spoil things for Indiana. If both do then that last spot may be messy.

*Obviously if Penn St blows this they slide down, in which case guessing a 2nd SEC team has inside track to the last bye.

I thought the byes all went to conference champs

It appears you're right, this is what I get for not paying attention to this game outside of Saturday's

They do...top 4 ranked ones

Brock just argued to "not call the pushing of an official". He tried to Brock-track, per usual, but you got to be kidding me. Even his cohort was like, wait, what???
