2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (4 Viewers)

It wasn’t pretty but I’m happy with today’s win. That’s a rough defense and a good opponent to knock the rust off.

The defense was great again and I expect better from Hurts and the offense next week.

Sucks to lose Dean though. Apparently he left in crutches. His injury didn’t look bad at all and I was so shocked it was so serious.

any intel/guesses on if we will play sat or sunday? @The Noid
Probably Sunday if Washington wins. No way they make Rams/Vikings play on 5 days rest
The winner of tomorrow’s game has to be the late Sunday game no matter what I assume?

Will definitely be Sunday if Washington wins. After watching the LAC lay an egg, I fully expect Minnesota to blow out the Rams. Too much going on in California for these guys.
I’m guessing Sunday either way because I think that Houston-KC would be on Saturday since Houston played Saturday and KC was off. The Baltimore-Buffalo on Saturday night since that is a big game and Baltimore played Saturday and Buffalo early on Sunday. With the ordering of the first round games by conference, it seems like the 2 afc games would make more sense on saturday

So winner of rams Vikings. Who we want
I think it will be Vikings. Either is fine. Vikings have a way better D though. Jefferson still does scare me. They'd be harder.

Yeah i think we want the rams but can beat either. Stafford or darnold will be pressured like crazy and stuggle.vs our def
Yeah I feel like this was the best outcome for you guys.
I would have been fine but people would be losing their minds if we had to play TB this week.

we wouldn't play washington though, they'd play Detroit.
This is how it'll work. We'll take care of Detroit, you guys take care of LA or MIN, and we'll have a whole week of "HOW GREAT THE NFC EAST IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN" coverage, which of course we all deserve.

Then the following week we can have a brief interlude where we hate each other.
will be obviously cheering hard for washington on Saturday.

Not sure who I want to win tonight.

If the Vikings win, they'll be playing their third road game in a row and on short rest.

If the Rams win, they'll have to travel across country on short rest.

Both scenarios heavily favor the Eagles. Don't think it matters who wins.

Vikings have a way better defense and explosive weapons on offense. Rams have a good offense but their defense is not nearly as good. I think the Vikings will win tonight but I'd prefer the Rams if we had to choose.

I wonder if it depends on how Darnold plays tonight? He’s the X factor IMO. He was so freaking awful last week that it really looked like he was choking in the biggest game of his career. If he bounces back tonight and plays well, I agree with you. If the Vikings win but he looks awful again, it should be a cake walk next week.

We already know the Rams defense can't stop the Eagles. Maybe, the Vikings can, I doubt it. Both offenses are similar, good receiving options, decent running games, QBs who don't run.

I think I am generally okay with either but I tend to agree with this. Minny kinda scares me. They have a great defense and their offense can definitely do some damage. Rams would give up too many points to us to be able to keep up against our defense.

Vikings defense isn't great, Green Bay's was better and Philly literally was a Saquon Barkley giving himself up with no one in front of him from dropping 30 points on them.

I disagree. Minnesota defense is way better than GB. GB had a good stretch towards the end but Minny defense was consistently good for most of the year.

The numbers say different.

GB defense: 6th in points, 5th in yards; 13th against the pass, 7th against the run.

MIN defense: 5th in points, 16th in yards; 28th against the pass, 2nd against the run.

Green Bay had tougher non-common opponents.
GB (non common opponents): PHI, MIA, NO
MIN (non common opponents): NYG, NYJ, ATL

Heck, Green Bay's offense was statistically better than Minnesota's this season too.

one thing i think that is going unnoticed today is a little more kudos to the whole team. I hear a bunch talk about the injuries being bad luck (thankfully not saying they would have won with health like SF), but i think more credit should go to the Eagles mentality/Siriani.

Similar to their game 2 years ago against SF in the conference championship, the entire team seemed to be dialed in from a physicality standpoint. Like when the defense knocked out 2 SF QBs, the defense was flying around laying big hits. The special teams laid big hits as well, and then you have Goedert smashing to the TD with the stiff arms. If they play with this physicality for the next few games, I think there chances are better. I think it was like the Ravens game this year when the media was talking about the Eagles needing to match the Ravens physicality, and they came out with a mentality to be physical

@RapSheet

Eagles LB Nakobe Dean, at the tail end of a breakout season, suffered torn patellar tendon in his knee and is out for the playoffs
ugh, feel for the guy. he was having a good year. Will hurt a little on defense with a spot to exploit. Offense will need to be a little better (at the same time they would have had 30 points if Saquan wanted to get the TD at the end of the game and Elliot doesn't miss the XP)

Sucks. I feel like he can’t catch a break! We definitely need to make sure Baun is back next year now.

Baun is having an incredible year. Pretty wild seeing a guy go from OKish for four years, changes teams, becomes all world.

Yeah, imagine being brought to a new team as a rotational edge rusher and being told that you are now going to be an off ball LB and becoming an all pro year one. Imagine the knowledge and eye it takes a DC to see that and act on it. Just a great story.

Eagles defense forced Jordan Love into one of the worst performances of his career:

- 2nd worst QB rate (41.5)
- Worst TD/INT ratio (0-3)
- 3rd worst QBR this season (his worst was week 1 v this defense)
- 10th lowest YPA

Yeah, in the game day thread, Eagles are getting no credit for this. Apparently, the Green Bay Packers were just a terrible 11 win team, maybe the worst team in the entire playoffs.

Shame for Dean, stayed healthy and showed he could play in the NFL. But I've always said, he's too small to hold up in the NFL. Burks is a step down from Dean, and doesn't tackle as good, but with all the talent around him, should be able to fill in.

Steelers were the worst team in the entire playoffs and the Ravens took it easy on them by resting Derrick who was torching them. Eagles' defense is legit probably the best defense in these playoffs. Plus, this was a good game for Jalen to knock the rust off.

Don't go into the Steelers thread, they think they have a talented team and it's all Mike Tomlin and his coaching staff's fault they lost. I agree with you, the Steelers were one of, if not, the least talented team in this years playoffs (still think it was Denver, but PIT was close). I think this Green Bay team probably beats seeds 4-7 in the AFC. The AFC is really top heavy, the NFC is much deeper.

It's close one could argue either way. Denver had a good defense. Steelers did until it fell apart. RW is horrible. Mike took Sean's castoff. I think Mike was trying to get football justice for RW and that didn't happen.

Oh if a team goes 0-4 and limps into the playoffs you know there going 0-5. No momentum the team looked like they didn't want to play in the first half. Was embarrassing.

Well, this has been discussed ad nauseum in another thread, but both QBs on PITs roster weren't going to be good enough. Had he stuck with Fields, the results would have been the same, it just would have looked different.

Justin appeared to be getting better and IMHO should have kept the job. RW first 2 teams were easy layups the NY teams.

Yeah, then he led the team to wins against the Commanders on the road and the Ravens at home. He was the better choice for PIT, IMO. But it's like a death row inmate picking the manner in which he'll be executed. He's a dead man walking anyway.

McCarthy out as Dallas HC.

Shame, I was hoping for the trifecta of McCarthy, Daboll and Shoen coming back for another season of hilarity.
Them waiting this long to pull the trigger is the next best thing. I’m sure many of the hot candidates already have their minds made up and staffs in place.

Also, seeing the way this played out McCarthy surely has a job lined up too.

Dallas waiting around has been a big issue and one that’s been biting them for a bit now.

Dallas has some good pieces in place, but not sure how many coaches want to work for/with Jerry Jones.
