2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (10 Viewers)

Eagles fans, Ravens guy here.

Wanted to wish you guys a great holiday and a great game this Sunday. It has the potential to be a fantastic contest. Let's hope for as few injuries as possible.

Right now, the weather looks like high 30s and sunny with a bit of a breeze.

Looking at the Eagles schedule, this is probably the only game I think they could lose. Historically, they don't do well against QBs who can run.
This isn't me trying to reverse-jinx. But the Ravens D seems much worse than Philly's. I can trick myself into Barkley/Henry being a wash. Baltimore's STs are un-good (not sure about the Eagles'). Jackson's better than Hurts, but I don't know by how much. Eagles WRs are better, but the Ravens TEs have an edge. Baltimore leads the NFL in penalties. Philadelphia is on a heater and the Ravens are -3 - I don't get it.

Eagles traveled to the West Coast last week so it screws up your internal clock for a couple days (Ravens on short rest so maybe that balances itself out). Ravens need to win to keep pace with PIT, Eagles have a comfortable lead in the division. Game in Baltimore. 3 points makes sense.
Ravens are also traveling from an LA road game, which is one of the oddest travel schedule quirks I can remember
There is a sizeable segment of Baltimore fans who think the NFL screws the team every year on their schedule because of Ray Lewis, Brian Billick, and Ray Rice. There's also a sizeable segment of the Ravens fan base who chew holes in their lips having to root for Lamar Jackson. It's not a perfect Venn Diagram, but the overlap is hefty.
If I was a ravens fan I’d be on that Lamar side. Just seems when the pressure is on playoffs wise he crumbles. And the minute he loses his athletic ability I’d rather not be the team who has to worry about his play.
Some of your takes… let’s just say I disagree.
I honestly think Lamar is the most overrated QB in the NFL all time outside of Vick to be honest. He puts up pretty stats regular season stats but crumbles playoff time.
I think that take is bananas. It’s true he has a bad playoff record- until it’s not true any more. He’s worked on staying in the pocket this year.

Completion % on the year: 67.3. Last 5 games: 68.5

3,053 yds, 27 TDs vs 3 INTs! Dude has an absolute howitzer for an arm and can make any throw from any platform. And he is the most athletic QB in the league.

When he goes deep in the playoffs (maybe to the SB) this year, the narrative will change to some other trifle from people who have to stick to their guns on their initial take on him. But, for my money, I take him over every QB playing today, even Mahomes.

I like Hurts.

I like Mahomes.

I like Jackson.

I'm not throwing any of them under the bus. They each have their own unique qualities over and above their basic pro football skills.

This game Sunday is going to be great entertainment.

I like all 3 of them, too. But the only QB in the conversation with Lamar this year is Josh Allen. And I’d take him 1b.

Welcome, but you forgot to let us know who on the team is replaceable

Man, i really want Shaq Barrett to come to Philly.

Burst my bubble to find out he’d have to be reinstated, released by MIA and then clear waivers (Eagles pick 29th) but all the internet buzz had me excited for a minute.
Eagles do have a good track record picking up Shaqs midseason…
Are they 2/2? Davis and Leonard? That’s all I can remember.

I’d hope Barrett worked out a wee bit better.

I don’t remember any others and would certainly hope that anyone who comes in would be better than shaq Leonard. Interestingly (maybe?) both shaq Leonard and shaq Davis went to South Carolina state (no match for the greatest alum, Javon hargrave)

Also, lost in all of this celebratory discussion today is the fact that we did what we did Last night without Davonte playing.
I am assuming you mean DeVonta Smith? If so, is that really that big of a hole in the lineup?
what
Lol
Like I said, outsiders perspective. Maybe he is a really good run blocker. All I can go on are his stats, which are easily replaceable.
Do you have a favorite team? Would love to give an outsiders perspective to the current roster construction of your team, in comparison to the Eagles. Ya know, just to see who is easily replaceable and all. Let us know!
:lmao:
Nah man, I digress. I will let you guys get back to your echo chamber. Didn't mean to call anybody's baby ugly. I was just responding to the one dude who did not even know DeVonta's name. As you were...
So you come into a fantasy football message board, into a team thread, tell a guy that one of the best player's on the team is "easily replaceable" b/c he spelled his first name wrong?

But you won't even tell us who your team is? I see Falcons Ron Mexico jersey, so that is my best guess.

'Tis the season for jumping into the Eagles thread to tell us

1. Our players aren't that good
2. Our opponents are not that good
3. We are lucky
4. If only this one major contributor was taken off our roster, we'd be terrible.

I see you have less than 1k posts here so maybe you are new, maybe you just don't post frequently. But I mean, I'm not sure what you are expecting the reactions to be. But this kind of stuff isn't anything new for us, so we really do appreciate that attempts to troll us I guess.

Go Sports!
Maybe he’s a poster on here using an alias?

Eagles hater/troll. In the "Where do you rank Sirianni as a coach" thread abrun1133 ranked Sirianni in the 29-32 range. I'm not a huge Sirianni fan, but he's certainly in the top 20 of coaches, and probably in the top half.

Hes won 70 percent of his games

FTR I voted 29-32 in that Sirianni poll. Which is funny bc I don’t remember seeing that thread until a posted a favorable analysis yesterday. Maybe I was just being a smart aleck or in a mood, genuinely don’t remember.

If I thought Nick was a dolt I’d say so. I prefer MCDC, no one I’d rather have in Detroit, but I think Nick has the whole team unified in a bunker mentality. Us vs the World. And I think he isn’t afraid to try new things if something isn’t working. Hires smart people. Practices accountability. Good manager IMO.

Is take several over Lamar including hurts honestly. The only year Lamar did well in the playoffs he had a terrific defense

Hurts problem is he’s never going to be a guy to carry the team on his back if his top guys get hurt.
Who are the guys that can do this today?

Hurts having issues trusting certain guys and it could be something to watch.

This is normal with back ups.
Brady trusted all his guys, manning as well, Warner did, today Allen seems to have no problems, Mack Hollins looks like a better WR then what we have now, Herbert has the youngest WR corps in the nfl and got on the ball, Mahomes never seems to have trouble.

Hurts biggest problem is his tunnel vision on the field. If AJ isn’t open or Smith or Goddart he tends to panic. Page has several examples from earlier in the year on his thread all 22 mash ups of this on Twitter/x and BGN.

Here’s d Gunn talking about it awhile ago on a post game show. The way Gunn explains it proves Hurts and starters should be playing some preseason games. If hurts has issues trusting guys this badly to start he needs to play in preseason

IDK man. Seems to me, and I do not believe I am alone in thinking this but, when I read your posts I get the impression that you tend to look for any little criticism of Jalen Hurts you can find that confirms your bias. Then, I see you using this perceived confirmation bias to consistently double down on your unhappiness with the fact that Hurts is, and has been, the Eagles very successful starting QB.

Seriously, when is the last time the Philadelphia Eagles drafted a QB outside of the 1st round that became a very successful, years-long, Super Bowl starting QB??? Hurts is attempting to lead this team on another Super Bowl run just two years removed from the last SB run and all I read from you are reasons he cannot.

I am really very sorry Wentz got hurt in '17 and that his brain imploded when he had to watch Nicky freakin' Foles win a Super Bowl and get a statue erected in his honor outside the Linc. It is what it is. Please, get over it.

I think most of us had this matchup with the Ravens as a loss. The Eagles team that started the season would definitely lose this game. However, this current Eagles team has a legit shot. I think both teams matchup very well with each other.

For the Eagles I'm curios if JC continues to be disruptive or try and contain Jackson. I could see JC getting penetration only to create running lanes for Jackson.

For the Ravens we're gonna find out just how good their run defense really is. However, I could see the Eagles throw more in this one.

Eagles - 30
Ravens - 26

So 1 QB today. Can you see it yet?

So after his first 3 options, he panics? I don’t think you realize how common this is for any QB.

And is it even possible to have “tunnel vision” and then name 3 options? This isn’t like a Stafford/CJ situation

Waiting to see if Roquan Smith is out again. If he isn't playing, Eagles will be scoring in the 30s again. Litmus test game for the Eagles defense here. They've passed all those test since the bye, but running QBs traditionally kill the Eagles.

The Fact we are playing the Ravens this week causing brains to melt down and try to take Lamar Jackson down is sad. He's a great player, has 2 MVPs, tracking for his 3rd to go back to back and he is just getting no respect from the normal folks that like to throw shade at a QB if he scrambles and runs around. Even if our own QB plays the same style. I wonder what that
Jalen Hurts is up to a 110.1 passer rating against the blitz this season.

Amongst QBs with 50+ pass attempts, that's 7th in the #NFL .

Hurts had a 74.1 passer rating against the blitz last season -- 28th in NFL. Was 93.1 in 2022.
Love him! He just keeps on....improving!

That video is from the TB game where AJ and Smith and Dallas for a time, did not play. I'm sorry, but if

He doesn't have a good connection with Ainias Smith though

Where did you pull this from?

PFF doesn’t bother trying to reconcile their numbers with the NFL API or GSIS, so I’m used to some variance. But it’s usually close.

Hurts blitzed/not blitzed passer rating 2022-24 per PFF
  • 2022 - blitzed 21st (93.5) not 2nd (107.0)
  • 2023 - blitzed 29th (80.5) not 14th (94.6)
  • 2024 - blitzed 21st (93.2) not 3rd (107.3)
First two years track - not precisely the same, but very close.

I’m wondering if you have 2024 inverted?

Yeah I can’t find passing stats when facing the blitz data on PFR or Stathead premium.

I’m dubious but wish I could find a second reference to compare PFF against.

👍 I just pass along some interesting stats I see on X. I don’t verify them if they’re from trustworthy posters.

The funny thing about the whole "Devonta is replaceable" is the clear lack of knowledge about a team in regards to a hot take like this. I don't have to tell any Eagles fans about the pain we have endured over the past 25+ years at WR

3 NFC Title Games with DEFINITELY replaceable players like Todd Pinkston and NA Brown
Freddie Mitchell?
Billy McMullen?
Finally getting TO
Marvin McNutt?
The TO experience
Finally Drafting Desean
The Desean Jackson Experience
The one Kevin Curtis game!
We drafted an olympic skiier?
Drafting Jeremy Maclin
The Chip Kelly experience
Jordan Mathews
Hey Desean is back!
Oh wow Desean is hurt
Nelson Agholor Baby!
Alshon/Torrey/Agholor help win a Super Bowl!
Drafting Devonta
Stealing AJ Brown

Took a long time to get here. I know the long grizzled Eagles fans like me are basically like "I can't believe this is our life"
I was at the Kevin Curtis game!

Funny I just went to the SNF game, I invited my Wife's cousin and her fiance who has been going to games since he was a kid.

After Sunday I told him this was the most decisive win I had attended, and he said he was at the same game.

Those jerseys lol. Kinda what made me thing of it haha

Yeah, most fascinating thing to me is what he cooks up to deal with Henry and Lamar. He said a high likelihood of more base D this week.

See more of those 5-man fronts like the NOS game? That might mean a big day for Andrews and Likely.

The tackling is gonna be so critical against the Ravens.

The Steelers D did a nice job of containing Lamar a couple weeks ago. If they can do it, the Eagles should be able to as well.

Lions can be beat at home

Good point. Was thinking same. I didn't get to watch closely but Chicago isn't a good team. And should have won or gone to OT.

I mean i hate it for them cause i want them to win at some point. But this eagles team would have drilled them today

Going to reserve judgment on Detroit until I see them play Buffalo. Division games are always tough.

That seems wise (considering they’ve put up 52 points twice this season already).

I feel pretty confident that Philly can hold the Lions to less than 50.

I think the Eagles match up extremely well against Detroit. Lions will to need to maintain home field if they wanna go to the big show. I will say that if Eagles lost to Lions in NFCCG I'll be 100% behind them in the bowl
