2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (2 Viewers)

Love the thread title change. 🤣 I generally ignore the more ridiculous articles that sometimes appear about NFL owners. But, I read an article title somewhere recently about Woody's decision making process & prowess. Super delusional if true.

Anyway, Baun and Blankenship are the players I want resigned or extended or whatever it takes to keep them here. ASAP.

I like Dean, Davis, Carter and Smith a lot presently. Priority but not urgent. Really like Milton as a rotational player as he somehow seems to always be a huge disruption for offenses. If we need to and we can afford it I want him taken care of ASAP also.

The only thing about baun is we never pay linebackers. Hope they do this time

I agree, the Eagles haven't paid linebackers. I'll ask this though, when was the last time the Eagles had a linebacker worth paying to keep? Baun is the most productive linebacker I've seen on this team in a long, long while. I am sure my memory is failing me but, the last linebackers I recall being highly productive are Bergey and Bunting.

Howie zigs when everyone thinks he'll zag (see, Saquon Barkley). I think Howie may move off of his traditional team building approach if he thinks Baun is value for the type of contract he's asking for. Otherwise, I trust Howie to get with Fangio and try to find another diamond in the rough.

With the team investors / LPs I think those funds will primarily be used for new stadiums. This should allow the teams full ownership of the stadiums providing much more revenue. The NFL continues to grow it's fan base in foreign countries so I expect the salary cap to go up by leaps and bounds.

Over the cap projections show these caps over the next few years.

2024 $255,400,000
2025 $272,500,000
2026 $290,000,000
2027 $314,000,000

My guess is the cap will be even higher.

The last time we had a good MLB was TJ Edwards who we developed from an UDFA LB into a top 10 rated PFF LB. Pretty sure he was way up there again this year.

We let him walk after the 2022 season.

To me, there is no way we don't keep Baun. The main additions to this team were to me, obvious hand picked or perfect fits for what Vic does on defense. He definitely preferred Q as the CB to draft bc he's a zone CB, I know Jeff really wanted Cooper, but from literally every article I read about DeJean and Vic was about how perfect a fit he was for the defense.

Then you look at Baun. How many NFL coaching staffs have seen this guy and none until now said "Wow, this guy is a MLB, not a 4th DE"

And then Vic turns him into the BEST MLB IN THE LEAGUE in his first year.
We have the #1 overall D, #1 pass D and #1 PPG Defense. It would be an all time bad look to let this guy walk, and I don't see a way Howie/Jeff want that heat/Bad press considering how miserable this offseason was.

I thought we should have signed TJ. Not a world beater but a definitely above average LB that was developed here. Beyond that no one really jumps out off the top of my head.

We did pay Nigel Bradham though, right?

So here we are 2 days after the game and all the rivals got are "The Refs missed this one flag"

K.

I'll take it, what a season we are having.

First time winning IN Cincinnati, shutting down Jamarr Chase in the process, who is having an historic season.
First time winning IN Baltimore, shutting down both Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry who are both having great seasons.
First time beating Russel Wilson? Sure, why not. The Steelers are one of the best teams in the AFC and we dog walked em.
First time winning 10 games in a row in franchise history.
Cowboys season is over, but they keep on winning and further screwing up their draft position! And they might trade Micah Parsons lol. And the brass is already saying "no free agents '25"
Niners season is over, and it looks like there will be a ton of change over there.
Our biggest competition is either a team lead by Sam Darnold (who is having a great year, but has really no playoff experience) or a team that has like 400 defensive guys on IR.

3 games left!!

I’m so angry I’ve been working so many weekends this season. Last game I was able to see in it’s entirety was the Saints.

So proud of this team!

I work mandatory weekends trying to leave my job for a more M-F or even Tuesday-Sat type job but it’s hard to find something better in terms of benifits etc.

I sneak watching the games at work as I can kind of afford it after my boss leaves at 1:30 for the most part. But unless I’m off or it’s a SNF, MNF, TNF or 4:25 game im not able to watch it consistently. For now it’s why I prefer the later and prime time night games as better chance to watch. From WK10-12 I got to watch 3 games straight. Should’ve been till week 13 but got screwed at work on inventory and worked the late shift during Ravens game.

I hate working weekends and I know how you feel.

My hope is they are really up for this game today. Division can be clinched and 1 seed still mathematically in play, which should be enough.

But division games are always tough and being on the road in a stadium that won’t have the usual Philly takeover because WSH fans have been re-energized this season makes this likely to be the game that ends the winning streak.

Will be a good test/statement game to further distance them from last year’s team. But a loss today will bring a ton of annoying “Is this another collapse?!?” takes.

Commanders need this win. A loss puts them in jeopardy of missing the playoffs.

The Eagles are built for games like this. Let's Go!!! I hope we sweep the division.

Washington is a good team but no match for the Eagles. Eagles will win by more than 2 touchdowns. Eagles' fans need to be concerned about the Commanders in the upcoming years. Now that the Redskins will be a free agent destination due to Jayden. Whereas when DS was the owner the only reason why a free agent would go to Washington would be on an over pay. Much like how Joe Schoen overpaid for that subpar offensive line.

During the off-season I was thrilled by the acquisition of Barkley. Thought it was a huge coup for Roseman. My imagination began to run wild with thoughts of Barkley running past our offensive line on his way to another TD. Over and over. Kinda like sugar plums.....

I needed to temper my expectations, no reason to expect too much, just better than the usual. Finally a top-tier back in Philly. What will it look like....?

Not in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine Barkley having the season he is. At this point, not only does he want that record, so does every offensive lineman and the tight ends. They will get him there. No doubt in my mind now.

Reverse Body Bag game with all these injuries on top of a loss after scoring 21 in the 1st would be a pretty bad outcome today.

Might wind up eeking this out to clinch the 2 seed and treating the next 2 games like preseason games.

Welp, here we are. If Hurts can’t clear protocol for DAL, the division/2 seed is theoretically at risk.

None of it matters. The only thing that matters is going to be health going into the playoffs regardless of seed.

3 losses this year have been:

Barkley dropping a gimme against Atlanta

TB when we played without Lane, AJ and Devonta in 95 degrees

This one. It’s gonna suck but if that’s what it takes for us to lose games (road, awful officiating and tons of injuries and an ejection) I feel good about us moving forward.

Cannot believe Devonta missed that catch.

Oh well, I actually don't mind not having the pressure of rushing players back, pushing for the Bye, etc. Rest Hurts next week.

Didn't want it obviously but, not surprised by the loss. My expectations for this game dissolved as soon as we knew Pickett took over for good. I do not think he did too bad. In fact, I would venture to say he played pretty well. Not great.

All said and done, we really can not pin this loss on Pickett.

Thrilled with use of Barkley today and the fact we had an awesome first quarter - first time this year!

2024 Eagles Regular Season Prediction Contest is back, with a plethora of Eagles swag as the top prize!

Same rules as previous seasons:
  • Using the format below (and my official entry) as a template, indicate these 3 things about the Eagles 2024 season: overall record, total points scored, and the outcome of each game: W/L/T (make sure your Wins and Losses match up with your overall record!)
  • Number of correct W/L outcome predictions by game will be the first tie-breaker if multiple entries have the correct overall record, and total points (closest, over or under) will be the second tie-breaker, if needed.
  • Entries need to be posted in this thread by 8pm EST on Friday, September 6th. Open to all FBGs, even Giants fans that were rooting for us to catch a case from the NFL for tampering when Saquon high-tailed it out of MetLife faster than a teamster spending his paycheck at the Bada Bing!
Good luck!

Is there an official list available of entrants? Or is this something you track at home but don't post about till the end of the season? Apologies, I haven't participated in past years and can't recall if I saw any posts on how this was handled in the past.
Can't really 'track' it as the winner is simply overall record at the end of the year (followed by the tie breakers after that).

Once the season is over, he will look at all the unedited posts to see who got our record right.
Thanks. I know it can't be tracked as the season plays out. Was looking for a participant list more than anything. I'll see if I have time later to go through the thread and I'll post what I find.
Ok, here's what I found.

Wow, first game I've not been able to watch or at least follow closely in at least 10 weeks. Sounds like a combination of everything going wrong?
Was a little worried abut Washington. Hard to sweep a good team

It was a crazy game. You should watch it

Any hurts updates?
There’s no specific timeline for clearing the protocol, so best indicator will be if he’s at least a limited participant in practice by Wednesday or Thursday. If so, he has a chance of playing.

We don’t (and won’t) know his exact symptoms or their severity, but 70% of players play the next week.

I'll get it posted soon. Pretty much figured most contestants would appreciate an update.

Why did cj get ejected? For saying bad words? That really screwed up our pass def
I was at a family Christmas party and my cousin and I were trying to figure this out. Neither 1 of us remember even the 1st PF. Did the refs make up 2 PFs on the spot. The refs were blantantly bad today and I’m one who doesn’t complain about refs much anymore. Pickett outside the pick played well but it was coaching malparacticd keeping Calatara in to block. He was astrocious today. Despite the bad calls you need Recievers to catch passes and when you have 3 guys combine for your completions in a game that’s never good
