2024 Philadelphia Eagles - Is Josh Sweat switching to Linebacker? (8 Viewers)

I'm predicting 13-4 or even 14-3 this year. I hate the early bye, but the rest of the schedule is definitely winnable.

And, for the record, yes Cowboy and 49er fans- we know it's a weak schedule. We won May, too!

We play the Steelers on my GFs birthday. Never been to a game (navy beat moved around but dads family is from here) so would be a cool gift to get her. Tickets right now are almost $300 so I’ll keep checking and see if maybe my uncle can give me the 2 extras for that.

Would love to give her the full experience with the tailgate too.

From my experience selling season tickets, Steelers games are as pricey as Cowboys games. In my section I can get $275 for a normal game like the Chargers. For the Cowboys I get $450. Same for the Steelers. It's just a more in demand game.

EDIT: Face value for my tickets is $145, they went up again this year. I might list the Steelers/Cowboys for $500 a pop.

For the 3rd consecutive year, the Philadelphia Eagles have the easiest schedule in the entire league. Guarantee you someone, at some point is gonna come in here using some weird matrix to prove that point.

With that said, I like this schedule. definitely will be attending the Rams game. Usually go on a vacation for Thanksgiving week, the ole "take 3 work days off, turn it into 9 days off in a row" method. Will be nice to start that week with a fun game to attend locally.

I can imagine plus the closeness of travel and it’s an AFC team and you got transplants from the area too. Can imagine it’s similiar in Pitt for Eagles

I’m looking at going to 9/16 or 10/13 game.

How much am I looking at spending? I’m in TX, btw. Between the flight, game ticket, room, food and activities I’m thinking $1000-1500?

Make sure you bring your own BBQ sauce, they'll run out by half time. Stadium is more hype that actually cool. Fun town though, the people are generally nice.

Lol those are the exact two games I'm looking at going to! (Or the Jags game Nov 3). Literally just wrote out a pros and cons list yesterday for those 3 games, for my buddy I'm going with.

I don't think the closeness matters, the Giants and Redskins games don't go for a premium.

I'd say if you wanted to sit 200 level (upper bowl) you'll be looking at $150 a ticket. You might be able to sit lower bowl for $225 a ticket. If you wait closer to game time you could probably get a better deal if you want to risk it. I would just air bnb, cost you between $500-750. Check out my neighborhood, Fishtown. Then you can just walk down to Girard Ave and there are a bunch of bars and restaurants. It's a younger crowd, say 25-35. You could also Uber downtown and go bar hopping and eating there.

Plus you're 10 minutes from the Stadium so it's a cheap Uber ride.

Say hello to Ed Bassmaster for me. On the strempf.

For fantasy purposes, get ready for tons of injuries

number of teams playing 3 games in 10 days:

2019: 0 times
2020: 0 times
2021: 0 times
2022: 0 times
2023: 0 times
---
2024: 9 times
yeah, I like the idea of Christmas games in a vacuum, but Wednesday is ridiculous. Bad decision by the NFL. And then streamed on...NEtflix? It's like they're trying to alienate fans and players

Probably a dumb question but what am I missing here? Don't only 4 teams play on Xmas day and there's no other Wednesday games?

Eagles WR DeVante Parker announced his retirement.

With the 31 year-old elder statesman gone, no WR on the team is older than 27 (Britain Covey.)
Wonder why he even signed. If he was threatened by a 5th and 6th round pick, you gotta hang it up. His jersey will now sit next to Frank Gore's

didnt like the parker siging when it happened. so no tears shed by me that we wont get to watch him underperform in games
Agree here. Campbell intrigues me more bc he is younger and faster, and just as injury riddled. Maybe he can put it together this year and be a serviceable slot/backup guy. That position is wide open.

I personally really like Anias Smith and Johnny Wilson more.

No James Bradberry eh. He's probably got less than 10 days left on the roster, so they probably said "stay away, we can't have you getting hurt and owing you all that cash"

i wouldnt want the young studs being around him
I mean, there is value in knowledge of the system, and its not like they are going to run a 4.85 40 by being around him.

But I also get it haha

If you were really worried about that you would just cut him now and designate him as a post-June 1 cut.
Yeah I'm sure Howie has been burning up the phones trying to get a conditional 7 for him though, hoping someone bites.

But he won't be here come TC either way IMO

You don't get any cap savings by cutting Bradberry. They should try him out at S if he gets surpassed at CB.

They can split up the costs if they June 1 cut him, right? I don't want to see him at safety. Just rather he be gone and all the youngters get more snaps/reps.

According to Overthecap, they get no monetary benefit to cutting him this year.

Bradberry is one of those good year, bad year guys. I'd rather gamble he turns it around for a $4.3M cap hit, than just cut him.

Yeah I feel ya there, just what are the odds he turns in around at this stage and age vs taking away reps from either DeJean or Quinyon.

And are we REALLY going to compete for a title this year? Seems to me, probably not to be highly competitive for a title run, although we will make the playoffs.

Rather have the new guys up to speed with experience going into next year when both Slay AND Bradberry will be gone.

Having a washed Bradberry use up a spot on the 53 is not worth avoiding the cap hit. Even forgetting the fact that spot could go to any position, DB is the biggest position on the 90-man roster right now with NINETEEN (!) players, at least 11 of which are players you would likely rather keep over Bradberry. Cut bait or else you will have to cut one of them and risk not getting them through to the PS.

Slay
CJGJ
Blankenship
Quinyon Mitchell
Cooper DeJean
Sydney Brown
Isaiah Rodgers
Kelee Ringo
Avonte Maddox
Eli Ricks
Zech McPhearson

Bradberry
Mekhi Gardner
Mario Goodrich
Tyler Hall
Josh Jobe
Tristin McCollum
Andre Sam
Shon Stephens

My sentiments exactly. Get him off the roster, wait for June 1 cuts, go get some WR depth. We have ZERO/ANYTHING behind AJB and Devonta. Not like Devante Parker was gonna be great, but he had like 60+ NFL starts. Right now its a 5th round rookie, a guy that had 20 catches for 105 yards last year in Parris Campbell, Britain Covey who mainly is a PR and a bunch of UDFAs.

Oh and John Ross :scared:

See who gets cut, go kick the tires on Corey Davis. Gotta do SOMETHING.

You missed Slay.

I'm slotting Bradberry right after DeJean. The rest of the guys have MAJOR question marks.

If we get anything out of Sydney Brown this year, it will be a plus. Guy is coming off an ACL tear. Even if he's physically healthy, mentally, it takes time. Plus, we have no idea if he's any good. He was a mixed bag his rookie year.

Rodgers last game was Dec. 26, 2022, I'm not counting on the guy being anything more than depth and I don't know if he can play the outside effectively. He seems destined to battle with Maddox for that slot spot with the loser getting cut. You don't miss nearly 2 years and hit the ground running.

Maddox is ALWAYS hurt, plus he's a slot guy.

McPhearson tore his achillies nine months ago. What's the outlook for a CB with that injury. Not very good I think.

Ricks, Ringo. They're still shiny new toys, but they aren't anything more than depth pieces at best.

So, Josh Sweat changed his number to 19 (from 94), but according to the NFL rules:

D-linemen are only permitted to wear numbers 50–79 and 90–99.

LBs can wear 0–59 and 90–99.

Maybe in Fangio's defense he can be called a LB, like how Reddick was always listed as an OLB.

Seems about right in my eyes. Really need him, Huff and Nolan Smith to be productive this year. Seems the 3rd rounder might be a non factor and I mean we can only count on BG for maybe 15-20 snaps per game this year. I'm not particularly bullish on the defense as a whole *THIS* year, but am for the future once we get the CBs and LBs some experience. Feel we are still missing 1 Pass rusher

Agree. Forgot to mention I *really* want us to sign Hunter Renfrow. He's a perfect fit for what we wanna do, and its not as if a 5th round rookie draft pick should be penciled in for that position.

Really interested to see who/which players get cut for June 1 stuff. Still moves to be made by this team for sure.

Not sure if he is hurt right now, but he has been battling injuries for a few years. Hasn’t been able to get on the field for a team that desperately needed his skill set. I think he’s pretty washed.

Seems like Isaiah Rodgers really shined at OTAs.

Another nail in the coffin for James Bradberry methinks

And I guess Nakobe Dean is behind both Devin White AND Zack Baun, not the greatest thing I wanted to hear.

With that said, Seems Hurts and Parris Campbell have developed a connection which is a good sign.

Nakobe Dean is too small to play LB in the NFL.
