*** 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers: 6-2 going into the bye (8 Viewers)

The time to trade for a WR is the next 2-3 days so they get a chance to get incorporated into the offense over the bye. If nothing happens by Thursday, I think nothing happens. Kupp rumors are still swirling, but at this point I'd doubt it.

No Fields package tonight.

This is getting ludicrous, if true. "You know that thing we could do to make our offense harder to predict/defend? Yeah, we arent doin' that."

He hurt his hamstring in practice and might be out altogether tonight.

Ah. That makes more sense.

But I like getting mad/bitching about Mike Tomlin & Artie, so I'm going to leave the old post anyway.
I mean they didn’t use him last week so…….

I think the Rams winning last week takes Kupp off the table. Kirk is now out for the season. The only other WR I had heard any talk about was Mike Williams and Hopkins. With the Jets losing again, maybe Williams will get dumped.

Not sure how much Williams really helps. I guess he's better than Jefferson/Watkins/Austin et al, but that's damning with faint praise. Plus, he's made of tissue paper. I'd take him if he were "cheap", I guess.

I think it could be something like a 6th for Williams and a 7th honestly. Which is probably worth it.

Yeah, that's nothing.

It’s not easy to win in this league and the Steelers are 6-2 going into the bye. They struggled in the first 3 quarters in different facets of the game but ultimately pulled it together. Wilson showed me enough to believe that he’s the guy that needs to man the ship for this year. Hopefully Frazier is back after the bye and we have help at the receiver position. The run D is a major, major issue as it has been for years. Hopefully Henry will be on a vacation or something when we have to face the Ravens.

Week 11 currently has the Jets/Colts game as the Sunday night game. I wonder if they flex in the Ravens/Steelers into that slot. The Bills/Chiefs game already nationally televised that week. I’m not sure though because the Steelers have already had 3 straight night games.

Good but not great performance. But all alone atop the AFC North at the halfway point ain’t bad
Let's be honest, over the past 5 years that's a game we lose. The red zone trips turning into FGs over and over, and our run D being gashed by a rookie RB were not good. But they found a way to win and special teams continues to play out of their minds.

It did feel like when the offense was open and taking deep shots they were dominating, and when they tried to constrict and limit themselves they faltered. They opened the game with the deep shot and the offense ran smoothly for a while. Then after non-stop runs it tapered off. Until they again took deep shots to Pickens and Van. Letting Russ Cook (sometimes) seems to be a key to opening up the offense.

Wilson's command of the offense is such a breath of fresh air. He isn't perfect, and clearly cannot run like he used to, but the team just looks and feels better with him out there. Not his fault that Jones is a knucklehead at times and I am still amazed that Pickens foot somehow never touched.

But he uses the field, makes good decisions, has multiple players and positions involved, etc. The bye week is good timing for everyone getting healthy, and maybe even helps his legs a bit too.

Roman now on IR for his hammy.
Wow, just wow. Absolute wasted 3rd round pick.
You're right, we all know that players only play for 1 year in the NFL. That year TJ Watt missed due to a torn pec, wasted 1st round pick.

I didn't love the pick when we made it, and the behind the scenes rumblings aren't good. Not sure what other WR was there at that pick that is productive right now though.

Interesting stats:, especially the total yards vs Canada

Another instance of playing down to the opponent but ultimately came out with the W, D made the plays when they had to but gotta start playing the run better with King and Chubb looming. Important to rack wins early in the year with the back half gauntlet of the schedule and they did just that.

Not expecting any splashy trades, so let's get healthy over the break and hit the back stretch running, no easy task coming back against Washington.

For whatever reason his play-action fakes look so much better than Fields. I like it!

There was an article last week about his play action effectiveness and how much better it is than Fields or KP -- and after last night it will be an even more significant advantage for him.

They put themselves in a great position heading into the bye. Have to clean up the gap integrity on run D that Tracy took advantage of.

Wilson is commanding the offense and opening up the deep game. Hopefully it becomes consistent when facing some stiffer defenses.

I did notice that Wilson’s first instinct seems to get out of the pocket but I guess he’s been like that his entire career. It would be nice if he ran it on occasion. He’s missing some plays there. But yeah he has good command of this offense. Perhaps there were some other issues going on in Denver.

I dunno, we needed a WR badly and most of the WRs drafted directly after him have ~100 yards total at most. It's not like we didn't draft a WR at that pick that would have been way better. How about we give him a chance to get fully healthy before we write him off. Maybe we could have traded that pick for a WR, but hindsight is 20/20.

If after next season he's still a bust, ok.

Pittsburgh Steelers fans, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. While the team's early success is promising, we need to keep in mind the context of their victories. They've faced the Giants and Jets—teams dealing with significant issues. The Giants appear to be in disarray from the top down, from the President & CEO to the GM and head coach. The Jets, too, are in turmoil, with an aging quarterback and coaching staff on notice and possibly losing their jobs at the end of the season. The real test lies ahead for the Steelers. They’ve yet to face divisional rivals, the Commanders, Eagles, and Chiefs. Let's hold off on the celebrations and see how they handle these tougher challenges.

Who is celebrating what? :ponder:

Good point about playing down. Nick Chubb is coming back from that horrific injury last year. So far, he is not lighting up the NFL. His last 2 games are subpar. He might not be back to his old self until next year. Also, Isiah Pacheco is soon to be back from his injury. If Dallas's run game light up the Steeler's, then I'm afraid of what the Ravens could end up doing. But I have a feeling that the Steeler's will find a way to stop Lamar and Derrick or so I hope.

I don't think we are ahead of ourselves, but we are in the best position we can be in right now for these tough stretch. Maybe Broderick Jones will find a mean streak over the bye.

Id be satisfied if he could find a common sense streak

Getting back Frazier, Herbig, and Patterson will be great. McCollum has performed surprisingly well and I think we have a much stronger backup center situation than anyone expected, but Frazier was playing incredible before his injury. Also, I think that giving Watt and Highsmith more chances to rest with less of a drop off will be beneficial. Alternating Highsmith's power for Herbig's speed was giving O-linemen fits.

We all knew that the games before the bye were the easiest ones. The 2nd half of the season is Commanders, Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Browns, Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals. That's a hell of a run. If we can emerge from those 9 games with 6 wins, my confidence in a playoff win will go up dramatically. It sucks that the Browns will have their better QB playing against us now that Watson is out. Here's hoping for a Christmas miracle 2.0 against the Chiefs (1.0 was AB reaching across the goal line as time expired against the Ravens).
