*** 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers: one and done again. (3 Viewers)

If they want a RB this is the draft to get one. As for QB, wait for 2026 and see what transpires. This 2025 pool of QBs look like they will be better than the porous 2022 class at the top-2, but after that it's all day 3 talents who will be taken earlier due to desperation.

I think they need 2 RB. Najee gone, Warren is okay, and Patterson should get released. Thats all they have.

They do need more than one (regardless of Patterson being on the team or not), and I think we can expect they'll plan to hit it twice with some combo of draft/URFA/vet FA.

I really don't care how they do it (sans burning a 1st or stupid FA money), as long as they inject speed into that position post-haste. If you're going to play dinosaur ball, at least throw a couple velociratpors out there, huh?

Would have loved one (or both??) of PSU's double headed monster, but they are both returning for senior year.

What I'd like to see for RB: resign Warren, bring in Jordan Mason, draft a RB in Round 3 or 4.

Not sure I want to see them throw that much cash at a FA yet. They aren't in the right place for it right now, IMO.

Round 3/4 is the sweet spot for me. I like a bunch of guys that appear to be slating to that range: Henderson/Judkins in 3 (maybe Gordon...but not for me, really), Sampson/Tuten/Neal/maybe Smith in 4.

Myles Garrett requesting a trade from the Browns. Some good news, though I'm not sure it actually happens.

If they honor Garrett's request, how much lousier does that Watson deal look like if you consider:

- It pretty much totally gutted them at QB (the exact opposite of the goal)
- It pretty much wasted the best years of Nick Chubb's career
- It pretty much (if they do deal him) caused a probable "all time talent" in Myles Garrett to not even want play for the team while still in his prime.

My quick, unresearched mock:

21. Mathew Golden, WR - Texas
52. Kaleb Johnson, RB - Iowa
83. TJ Sanders, DT - South Carolina
122. Cobee Bryant, CB - Kansas
163. Nick Nash, WR - San Jose State
225. Rylie Mills, DT - Notre Dame
238. Gus Hartwig, OL - Purdue
247. Riley Leonard, QB - Notre Dame

I don't hate it at first blush, but given how I think this draft crop may break down when they are on the clock.....I am low key hoping they take DT earlier than that.

Best defenses have DTs than can blow **** up on the interior. Steelers don't have that beyond Cam, when they shift him in there. Given his age they need to address that position in a pretty big way, IMO.

If they could get this, they should celebrate

IDK Nash or Hartwig, Leonard cant throw, but would be a nice QB3 for years, and never have any issues with him being a jackass.

Loved Mills before the injury, it looked so innocent, but was on crutches weeks afterwards. Would really need to have medical experts look him over, might required a redshirt year since injury happened in December. I think they need a big hoss in the middle of the DL, 6'3'' 335lbs. There are a few out there that would be 4-6th rd pick range.

I was getting intel during the season that the Steelers were trying to trade for Kupp, and that would have happened had the Rams lost that week and been out of playoff contention. Not hearing that they are talking to the Rams just yet though. But am I wrong that Kupp would be a horrible fit for this O, and that his contract sucks, and that after trading a 5th for Mike Williams, we don't really have the draft capital to trade for an old guy on a bad deal?

In terms of contracts where teams will never see that large investment return even half of the value due to aging and recent injuries, Kupp is right up there.

I can't imagine that anyone will trade for him given his contract unless LA eats a large part of it. Given that the delta in savings between trading ($20MM) and cutting ($15MM) is relatively small, I'd guess that they will have to cut him.

I don't want him or Davante at this point. Last year we felt like a contender early in the year (even though it was a mirage), but we don't need to be trading for 32 year old WRs and paying them $24+ million per year.

If we get Kupp, we have to re-do his deal or LA has to pay part of it for it to be worth it. He's still a great WR (when healthy) but who knows when that cliff is going to come. We're a rebuilding team, we need young talent.
3 years at 30MIL for Calvin Austin seems to be alot of money..
Where is this coming from? He has another year on his contract and he fumbles too much. Let's wait and see how 2025 goes. Hopefully he'll be our WR3 or WR4 next year behind Pickens, Wilson, and a Rookie.

Every draft show keeps saying that this draft is packed with DL, RB, and Secondary talent, but weak at IOL and WR and QB. I really hope that Khan and Weidl are given the chance to load up on BPA and not just chase positional needs.

We'll probably go after Guard, unless the team sees Anderson as Seumalo's eventual replacement. Fautanu, Frazier, and McCormick are locked in, but LT/LG are less certain.

The need at D-line is obvious, unless Logan Lee recovers from injury and is the truth (doubtful). I would not be surprised if a top 3 pick was used there and Larry O was let go. ILB is a need, but the class isn't super deep. Could be value on Day 2 or 3 though near the 3/4 turn.

Our CB situation is rough and needs work.

IMO I'm expecting our picks to be DL, DL, CB, RB, OL, WR, and TE or QB.

There is 1 player who I wish would fall to us but I just don't see happening. Warren from Penn St. TE is not a need, but our offense sucks and our path to success could be using unusual packages. A player who can block really well and also is an excellent pass catcher and who lives and breathes football would be nice. The only possible way he could fall to us is if he tests poorly (which is possible), but even then he should be a top 14 pick, so it probably won't happen. Fields on the field with 1 WR, 3 TEs, and a RB with threat to run or pass to Muth or Warren or Washington would be interesting. Essentially trying to emulate the dynamic duo of the Pats.

That may be the case but the one thing that makes me think he could get traded instead of cut is the Bills got a good return for Diggs when it looked like he faded and that was with the Texans committing $22M for one year. Could in fact see the Texans doing this kind of thing again in light of their WR injuries and just hiring OC from the Rams staff.

Kupp makes more sense in HOU than PIT, and I'd bet he rather play in warmer location, easier division and indoors than out in the rain and snow.
And for the Steelers, one aged WR isnt going to make much of a difference. Steelers need to think of 2027, not 2025.
I hope so, we used to be excellent at planning ahead instead of addressing immediate needs. Our early round picks were almost always replacements for positions that would be a need 1 year in the future and had time to get up to speed.

It's concerning how the Steelers once excelled at developing and drafting wide receivers. Now there's a chance they might not sign George to a long-term contract. The Steelers' recent track record with free agent wide receiver signings hasn't been impressive. The two biggest names, Allen Robinson and Mike Williams, have turned out to be overpaid busts. I'd much rather see them draft new talent or uncover hidden gems like John Metchie.

Look Chase Claypool 26, Diontae Johnson 28, and George Pickens 23 all very promising players who the Steeler's coaching staff couldn't manage their personalities. In George's case he probably should have not been on the Steeler's draft board. With Roman Wilson to be determined.

Money ignored, Kupp would instantly be their best WR, even with the age/injury conerns.

Knows how to get open, fantastic hands, can block, and not a complete, utter moron? He's actually the exact kind of guy who you'd want anchoring a young WR room for a few years (which is almost certainly what they'll have). Hell. I might be inclined to bring him in as much for that as anything.

"Gone by 2027", but leaves a couple younger WRs in a better place to take over than if they had Pickens/nobody to emulate? I cant say for sure it wouldnt be useful. I'd still want them pursuing more WRs though (via draft, FA, whatever). I assume it'd also put Pickens in to "trade me" mode...which may be addition by subtraction. Interesting possibilities, if nothing else.

Where are these contract #s coming from? I'm seeing other totals reported that arent quite as egregious, but I havent vetted them. Not great, but not that high. Regardless, they(Rams) will almost certainly need to eat some of it if they hope to land anything of value at all from anyone. Especially after his end of the year fade.

Okay, checked Spotrac. Thats a good bit of cash, for certain.

Rams prolly trying to move him before the 3/15 roster bonus, but every team will know that too, sooo again...I have to assume the Rams realize they'll have to eat money if they want anything viable in return.

And all their best years were here. Same can be said for every WR that left other than Sanders really. Has any WR received a second contract with the Steelers in the last 10 years?

AB and Diontae.

I had issues with Colbert near the end of his tenure but he was incredible at identifying talented WR's, starting with Plaxico and ending with George if I'm not mistaken. Those days seem to be over.
