2025 Buffalo Bills (3 Viewers)

Not thrilled about a weather game. I think this team is well equipped to handle it, I think weather just adds an element of chance that a big favourite would rather avoid.

What is with this weather? Ever since they decided to keep the new stadium in Orchard Park this will be three years in a row having games significantly impacted by weather.

Getting to the game safely, not necessarily the result.

Really gotta think it would have been better to move north of the city but $$$ was the deciding factor I am sure.

I think we will look back at where they decided to build and the type of stadium to build as a big mistake.

It's easy for me to say as a guy who lives 1100 miles away, but I enjoy weather games. I completely understand why it's a competitive disadvantage if we're good -- see the New England wind game -- but I like the aesthetics enough that I'm not going to complain about that.

Edit: TBH, I still occasionally go back and watch highlights of the Colts game from the drought-breaker season. I enjoy this aspect of football.

Does this game with the weather have any impact on starting players this week
Will it subside by game time. I personally have Allen, McCaffery and Kittle and could go Burrow, Hall, JSN instead

I think it's fair to say it will NOT be blizzard conditions. Winds projected to be around 8-10 mph and gusts 15 to 20 mph. Probably similar to conditions in the Bills-Ravens playoff game a couple of years ago, but slightly less cold and slightly less windy. Lake effect snow is very hard to predict - could be anywhere from no snow to 2 inches per hour, with that heavy band only being 10 miles wide. It will be snowing some place in WNY, but more likely to be South of the stadium.

I don’t know how things end this season, but things just feel really good right now. And honestly, I don’t care as much how this season ends because I’m just enjoying the ride so much. Josh is so much fun to watch and the team is likable (outside of Von IMO).

(Feel free to quote this when I whine if they lose to Detroit)

You’ll learn what to do in the rematch. Honestly If be more worried about this Rams trap game. Just clinched the division in a blizzard blow out with Super Bowl preview at Detroit around the corner. Don’t sleep on a McVay team.

2000-2016 only 2 seasons over .500, never made the playoffs

2017 Beane & McDermott arrive, 9-7 lost WC
2018 Josh Allen arrives, start 2-7, finish 6-10
2019 another WC season
2020 lost AFCCG

2020-23 4 straight seasons winning a playoff game

2020-2024 5 (five!) straight division titles

I know there's been a ton of disappointing finishes to the season, but dang man - 7 out of 8 years in the playoffs after a 17 year drought, 5 playoff wins - I know you want more, but also, appreciate what you have. Just about everyone in the league except the Chiefs is jelly.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Y'all consistently draft 3-5 guys who become starters, every year.

Coach and GM are each among the best in the business.

QB is always in the discussion of Top 3 quarterbacks.

Be grateful for what you have.

10 weeks until the big game. Hoping it's the Lake Erie brothers battling for their first Lombardi.

I know technically Detroit is not but in my mind BUF - CLE - DET are all linked by the same waterway

Official prediction for the season is 10-7, borderline 9-8. Too many little holes and a very difficult schedule. Josh Allen pulls some magic **** every now and again to win some games they shouldn't. A couple bounces go the right way and they should be in the mix for the playoffs and for the division. A couple bounces go the wrong way and I could see them missing the playoffs entirely, or sneaking in as a very low seed. Overall I don't think this team makes any noise this year, but you're really never out of a game with him at QB. I expect 2025 to be a bigger year as the Bills reload bigtime in free agency.
Well, I think I was wrong. I wasn't sold on the Jets, but I thought Miami would really be a contender this year.

Be grateful for what you have.
I don't think you have to worry too much about Bills and Lions fans savoring the state of their respective franchises right now. We both spent a lot of time in the desert.

This season has gone much better than I expected, and it's theoretically a reset year. Regardless of what happens over the next few months, this team should be stacked for the next several seasons.

My only real concern with the team is the inability to stop the run. I'm not convinced we beat the Ravens or either the lions or eagles. I believe all 3 of those teams could essentially run the ball on every down and manufacture first downs.

I guess we'll get an answer in a couple weeks. Hoping Milano being back will help.

Agreed, that’s a problem. Staking an early lead is super important to try to limit those teams from being able to just run.

Milano being back should help some and hopefully when Carter gets back he’ll help too. Despite being a rookie, he may have been their best run stuffing DT. Would be nice if Ed Oliver would live up to his contract but I think we’re passed the point of being able to believe that he’s a difference making player.

On one hand, it's really good that this is the only real problem we have at the moment. Our offense is good enough that we can overcome a shaky run defense right now, and we shouldn't have any problem addressing the issue in the offseason.

On the other hand, it is infuriating to see how many resources this team has invested in the DL and how little production we've gotten. It isn't that our DL is bad, but it should be stellar given how much attention it's gotten.

You guys look great right now.

Honestly, the Bills just look different this year. I don't want to say it's like they are on a mission - I think the Lions fit that more than the Bills do.

The Bills just look so chill and relaxed. Like, they are really comfortable in their own skin finally. I like that team.

Agree, amazing what addition by subtraction can do. From the couch I have no idea how detrimental Diggs was to the team moral, but it appears to have a had a very positive impact with him gone.

Considering that Ken Dorsey is getting good results from Jameis Winston, in addition to Brady getting good results with Josh Allen, you have to wonder just how big of a drag Diggs was.

I agree. This team has a very different personality this year than it did the past couple of years, and it's impossible to deny that the absence of Diggs has a lot to do with that. That's too bad because I genuinely liked the guy up until about last season. But obviously there was some locker room stuff that we weren't fully privy to.

Also, it feels like team has finally gotten over 13 seconds and the stupid seeding controversy in 2023. This team had too much drama around -- #14 didn't help in this regard, to put it mildly -- and it felt like they were constantly pressing, as if they could do that kickoff again if they really set their minds to it. Now it's like they're just playing normal football again and taking care of business like any other team would.

Diggs seems to have gotten his success by being ultra intensely focussed.

Josh is a big goofy kid who pukes before games.

In hindsight it seems obvious their personalities would not work long term.

To me the Hamlin scare was the final straw. You go back and watch that footage, Diggs was on the sideline trying to rally guys.

I think he wanted the game to continue, the Bills could have had the one seed with a win. Instead they conceded the one seed by virtue of playing one less game. On the heels of 13 seconds the year before I don’t think Diggs was cool with that.

I don’t know if McDermott will ever improve his late game decision making, but it is a shame that he was a first time coach when Allen started.

He is going through his growing pains while using up the prime of the most talented QB in the NFL (my opinion).

In an ideal world, McDermott would have been many years into the league before Allen was drafted 😕

You’ll be excited to hear that the Bills didn’t go for a block OR a return on the last play of the game because they only had NINE players on the field. :wall:

Honestly, if the Bills had Andy Reid and the Chiefs had McDermott, I think Buffalo would have a couple of rings. Very frustrating that end of game stuff is STILLa problem all these years later. Honestly no excuse at this point.

I completely understand that McDermott is the person most responsible for changing the culture of this team. He is the best coach this franchise has ever had, and I don't really want to roll the dice by bringing in somebody else.

That said, McDermott personally cost us our best chance at a super bowl since 2000. He didn't learn from that, and he's probably just not going to. Our ST coach should have been shown the door seasons ago, and he's still here, screwing things up. We are going to have to overcome bad in-game decision-making if we want to win a championship.

A couple of comments to add...

It wasn't long ago that Andy Reid was a laughing-stock when it comes to in/late game management. I hold out hope that McDermott can still improve greatly.

That said, I've seen a lot of folks criticizing McD for that stuffed GL sneak (while praising Campbell for his ballsy call), yet I doubt McD called that play. He doesn't call plays, so unless he chimed in and told Brady what to do that was not on him.

Pretty clear we have no shot at the #1 seed. This Chiefs season is unreal.
It is what it is. I have more confidence this year than any other that the Bills can beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. I’m more concerned about Baltimore than I am KC. Would obviously prefer to play at home, but you can only control the games you play.

I totally agree. I am much more afraid of Baltimore than KC.

It's actually crazy. I made that post yesterday when it was clear the Chiefs would win, and before Mahomes got hurt, AND before I knew the remaining schedule of the Chiefs. If the Chiefs decide they want to rest Mahomes (or even if he plays and he's 70% or whatever), there's a good chance they lose 2 of their last 3 and the Bills get the Bye.

I want the easiest possible path through the playoffs, but the Bills really need to beat the Chiefs in the postseason. If the AFCCG is in Arrowhead, fine.

Like others, I would just as soon play the Chiefs at Arrowhead than the Ravens at the Ralph.

I agree with this.

If the Bills play the Chiefs this year in the playoffs, you guys are gonna win it. The Chiefs are just bad this year despite the record. And as I've mentioned before about the Bills, this year is just it. If McDermott can clean up the Bills defense some in the next 6 weeks you guys are dangerous. I don't care who they would play in the Super Bowl.

Josh Allen is just on fire, man.

Nice win yesterday Mafia. If my Lions are not able to hoist the trophy I would love to see Buffalo doing it. Good luck with your championship pursuit, a rematch in the big game would be the ultimate.
I feel so bad that the Lions are suddenly slammed with injuries. The Bills have been victims to the injury bug come playoff time that really cost them over the last few years, but Detroit is taking it to another level. Hopefully the Lions can get some guys back ok defense and make a run at it.

I've pulled for the Lions for the past couple of seasons, and I hope they do well this year if we don't make it. How can anybody who's not a fan of a rival NFC North team not like the Lions?

It is a fine line between being physical and being dirty, I think they crossed it a few times Sunday.

Taron Johnson agrees 😂
I don’t think I realized how much that Lions D talked smack until I watched the game. Branch seemed to not shut up even when his own teammate was hurt badly on the ground. Hollins was trying to tell him, but Branch kept right on yapping.

Yeah KC may have a hard time winning 2 times especially now. I do think they can beat Houston at home with Wentz but at Pittsburgh seems like a no. Maybe Mahomes plays Denver if they go 1-1.

I still have a lot of respect for Diggy Diggy...

Let’s say the Bills lose in first or second round this year and fail to make the Super Bowl again. Some people have been calling for McDermott to be fired if he can’t get us over the hump. But who would even be out there, besides Ben Johnson, that you would feel happy replacing him with?
There’s a part of me that if Johnson told Beanne he would become the next head coach that I’d be ok with firing McDermott. I mean, imagine Josh in that offensive system. But other than Johnson there’s not a single guy out there I’d rather have.

No offense at all to Ben Johnson or anybody else, but we've all seen lots of coordinators flame out as HCs. We all know about McDermott's faults, but we know that he can build and maintain a culture and win playoff games consistently. Am I confident that he can get us a super bowl? No, I'm not. But I am pretty confident that Allen can get us a super bowl with this HC if he goes on a heater like he is perfectly capable of doing.

In other words, I guess I see McDermott as a B+ coach. He's good. That 2017 team had no business making the playoffs, and he was able to sort of paper over whatever the problem with Diggs was. His players obviously like him, and we have no problem attracting free agents. I don't think we can toss that overboard to swing for the fences.

I might be singing a different tune if Derrick Henry hangs three TDs on us.
