2025 Carolina Panthers: Looking Forward to Continued Improvement, Keep Pounding! (1 Viewer)

Man Bryce may actually be the worst QB who has ever played. Panthers might want to be careful not to win too many games with the red rifle. Will need to draft another QB in 2025.
The Red Rifle just sent Young to the bench for the season
After what we saw on Sunday, how can Carolina say they have plans to play Young again this season?
His career in Carolina appears to be over
its one game.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

if he can consistently do this then Yes, the kid will ride the bench for the full season.

but that O line isnt very good. its tough for many QB to do well there on a consistent basis. there will be good and bad games.

They will lose the locker room if they don't go with Dalton until they can't
-I've never seen the Panthers look that good under Young

It's Andy Dalton and we all know he has a ceiling or limitations
I agree they won't make it look that easy all the time, still likely to lose a lot of games

But it was nice to see the other players at RB and WR show they aren't as bad as Young makes them appear most weeks
Tepper made a colossal error trading up from 8 and then trying to show he knew more and grab Young over Stroud
I never bought the media hype over Bryce Young, his measurables just do not add up at the pro level

But in theory it wuld be better if they just fail and get a higher draft pick. They would have had their pick of the litter in '24 but opted to trade their future 1st in '23 for Young
I know you knew that but I hate and I love to remind everyone of the pain he is causing for Panthers' fans.
Tepper should be asked nicely to sell the team and move on
Jerry Richardson was made out to be a sexpest because he liked to see ladies in blue jeans around the office on Fridays, Tepper throws drinks on his fans but gets to reman in charge?
Tepper runs the team into the ground, no real punishment in the NFL for being a lousy owner

well, I think I know why they did this.

Dalton was never one of those super talented QB's but he prepares well and if I was the coach I'd have young prepare with Dalton side by side. watch what Dalton does to get ready for the game. Hopefully Dalton is teaching him some things that he can take away.

everyone there knows Dalton has a shelf life. the guy is 36 years old. he cannot start forever. but he can start for another year. maybe two if things go right. but I've noticed the last couple chances hes had to start he got hurt a few games in, so my feeling is that his body may no longer be able to handle the rigors of a full year NFL schedule. No shame in that. thats what years of taking big hits from 300+ lb DT's will get you.

but he can play for now, and that's good enough. give the kid a chance to learn behind him and figure out how to be a pro. at some point they need to give the kid another shot. just like Tua was given a shot when he clearly wasnt the best QB on the miami roster. (back before the concussions)

I think he will get his chance again. but for now, the right move is to sit him.

Yes, all the talk about the need to trade Young for the benefit of him and the team is off the mark, imo. Caneles has had 2 games with Bryce and deserves a chance to see if he can help his development. Having him sit and learn behind Dalton looks to be what the Dr. ordered here.

If he sits the entire year (except for potential mop up duty), that probably means that Dalton and the offense continues to do well. I hope this is what happens. Let's give him a real chance to learn how to be a pro QB without the immense pressure of being franchise savior and the target of blame at the post-game media podium. Those days could still yet come, but it doesn't have to be today. Let's continue to build the o-line and give weapons to help him succeed... but when he is ready.

If they traded him for a 4th/6th round pick... smh They have too much invested in him to just scrap the project this soon. That may be what they have done to Darnold and Mayfield. Give Caneles and his new offense a chance. In the meantime, let Dalton have the helm.

Kinda fun to put real NFL into fantasy goggles. Imagine if your a fantasy team and you trade the below for Bryce Young.

  • WR D.J. Moore
  • 2023 first-round pick (No. 9 overall)
  • 2023 second-round pick (No. 61 overall)
  • 2024 first-round pick (No. 1 overall)
  • 2025 second-round pick

Now imagine a year later another owner, your rival looking to prey on you, and someone you don't like, offers you a 4th round pick for Young? You laugh and hold Young out of spite. I can see my response to the offer. "Bryce will rot on my roster before I move him for a 4th" If I was the owner of the real life Panthers I almost hold him on principle.

True. but usually when the decision is made to move on from the QB this is the reason why the GM gets fired. the New guy had no attachment to this 'mistake'
so when the GM gets fired, you know they've likely had enough of Bryce.

Not a bad showing but fell short. Not getting the TD on the first drive was a bummer. The D. Johnson trade is looking very good now and it's nice to see X. Leggette get his first TD... along with his first TD dance, er, ride...

Whatever pick they get this year they need to trade it. Put some pieces on that roster.

Some uncharacteristic throws by Dalton, especially the last pick 6 (would've been but guy slid down at the one).

Chuba continues to have a nice season and Leggette showing signs of something nice brewing.

Dalton is so bad he's making Bryce look like an option again. This team is probably in the drivers seat for #1 again.

The GM - Dan Morgan is a former Univ of Miami player and could look at Cam Ward in the Draft at No 1 especially if he wins the Heisman
Ward is better than ARich was at No 4 overall and they sunk not 1 but 2 first round picks to get Young No 1 so i can see Ward being discussed or in the mix
But there are potentially 4 or 5 first round QBs in the '25 Draft, perhaps not all of them are truly 1st Round grades

They also could fire Morgan and none of this will mean much at the end of the season

Ugh, this team is bad. I don't know if they would go with Cam Ward. Miami has a cake walk through the schedule. Looking forward to seeing Cam play in the playoffs against top teams. They should destroy FSU next.

At some point I see them going back to Young this season. May as well evaluate him in action, especially if they're thinking of drafting a QB next spring.

Wow...could be the worst team ever. -133 pt differential. The Pats are -76. Expansion Bucs hold the record at -287. For the modern era (2000 on) the worst is the 2009 Rams at -263.

Young back under center, must be looking to lockup the #1 pick in 2025. Dalton was doing a fine job with that on his own, but this seems to be the right move. Gives Bryce a chance to show everyone his progress. 🙏

No Diontae and no Thielen. Young is doing a good job this week if the Panthers get to 13 points in my opinion. This game is probably gonna look a lot like the Denver-NO game last week.

Let's trade a 2nd round pick for Cooper Kupp, have him miss a few games, and then trade him for a 6th rounder and a pack of hotdogs.

Has there been any rumblings about Dalton's thumb?

Dalton has had two horrible games and injured his thumb in a car wreck. That decision was easy. I wrote about it in another thread, but the Panthers really need to see Bryce and have him gain game experience. If he looks totally overmatched, you need to trade him to an organization that wants him. If he improves then maybe your overall number one pick isn’t sunk.

Canales supposed to announce soon who will be starting. I’ll be floored if it’s Dalton, but the Panthers seem to have their own way of doing things. (And I want Dalton to start because I am hurting at QB and could throw him into my lineup.)

I haven't heard anything about the thumb but I agree with rockaction in that they need to go with Young. He needs the reps and the exposure.

And Jayrok, pardon me. I think I thought I was clarifying, but I had misread you. You’re right that Dalton was doing a fine job getting to the number one pick overall. Heh. He wasn’t very good. Bryce will do just fine with that, too. And then you start the quarterback carousel all over again! Isn’t that a joy?

I don’t know if you know, but I cheer for the Jets, so . . . I’m used to bad ownership and management and contending for that very first pick (this past decade, anyway). We always manage to win a game or two at the end of the year. It’s the difference between Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson. I’m not trying to be an *** but objective when I say that thankfully, you guys don’t look like you will again, so good luck!

Nice win yesterday. Was at the game and Bryce looked decent. He protected the ball and got rid of it when in danger, for the most part. His INT wasn't his fault. Was a great throw and Leggette caught it but the defender took it out of his hands as they landed on the ground.

I think Legette is going to be a fine WR but outside of him, in the current WR room, there isn't much. Coker is actually a very good receiver and should be on the field more. Johnson is gone and assuming Thielen is gone next season, there isn't much there. Mingo vanishes when the clock starts. Young needs more talent out wide.

Sanders had some great catches at TE. Hopefully a pleasant glimpse at the future at that position. Defense couldn't stop the Saints for much of the game but bowed up nicely in the red zone a few times forcing the FG.

Mingo for a 4th round pick. Finally, a good deal. We now have a pick in each of the first 3 rounds, two 4ths, three 5ths and one 7th for next spring's draft.

Let's try not to trade them all for Sam Darnold. TIA

Starting to see some green shoots on this team. Defense has improved slightly. Young has a good connection with the rookie receivers and might be gaining some confidence. Chuba is running like one of the top RBs in the league just in time to add Brooks.

There is a formula like the Wilks Panthers out there for this team if the defense can play well enough. May have to actually catch a game after the college football season winds down.

Two in a row! Chuba has been awesome. Had a little scare with the knee there but glad he wasn't hurt.

Lots of things to improve on but so far I like what the new coaching staff is doing. The team seems to be buying into the new direction. Looking forward to seeing Brooks.

Great showing yesterday. Bryce looked good against one of the best defenses in the league. Encouraging performance.

Chuba taking Chris Jones into the end zone was a great moment. I know morale victories aren't wins but this team deserves one here and there.

The defense needs help in the off season. I like how the new coach has them playing right now.

Sitting Bryce for a couple games may have been the best thing for him. I wish more rookies would sit after being drafted.

Three good games in a row for Young, great to see. Not just good on a relative basis, but looking like the guy we saw in Tuscaloosa good.

Another nice game for Bryce, moving the ball into scoring position in crunch time... go ahead TD. Shame that the beautiful catch by Thielen was erased by the fumble. I feel bad for Chuba but that was just an awesome play by the defender who essentially tackled and rip the ball out. Maybe they should have kicked the winning FG before that run.

Two missed FGs certainly didn't help. Defense played better this week. Also nice to see Brooks having nice runs. Keep pounding!

I think the takes on Bryce have probably swung to being too positive for the first time since he's been in Charlotte. Happy for him so not really going to push back on that praise.

He's definitely improving his decision making though. A lot more confidence when he is off schedule and you can see the rapport building with this receiver group.

Nice finish to the season. Young has made great strides and looks comfortable in this offense. Five TDs against a good team is impressive and a few come from behind wins this year. Looking forward to see how they approach the draft and 2025.

Get him more OL protection and a weapon or two and address the defense. Brighter days ahead.

Draft day. Tired of all the mock drafts who basically say the same thing. If the Panthers hadn't signed all these TEs, I was hoping for Tyler Warren (PSU). Seems like he could be an offensive Luke Kuechly or another Greg Olsen for many years. Another target for Young and would help offset the fairly weak WR room.

Do they go WR? Or edge? or trade back?

In any case, here's hoping for a good, productive draft.

kinda surprised they didn't take a defender considering they were so bad but I guess they signed 6ish starters on D in FA so Tet was probably a reasonable pick

Back to back WR 1st round picks. I have mixed feelings on the draft, liked most of it but a couple of head scratchers.

TMac - hope this works out. Perhaps Canales can develop him to be similar to Mike Evans, and should help free up Legs down field.
Nic Scourton - Edge. I like the work they did on the Dline/edge. Thought Mike Green was going to be the pick though.
Princely Umanmielen - Edge. Like
Trevor Etienne - RB - I like Trevor but there were plenty of good RBs taken much later. LBs were here (C. Simon, B. Carter, J. Sawyer) or CB. I guess they feel the FA signings will suffice
Lathan Ransom - S - Like this pick. Need DB depth
Cam Jackson - DT - Loving this pick. Another monster run/block stuffer beside Brown
Mitch Evans - TE - ok? That's a crowded TE room. Signed Tremble and then another tall TE... Sanders. Guess they felt Evans was too talented to pass up here. But we couldn't find another need here? OL? DB?
Jimmy Horn Jr. - ok? another undersized WR. I suppose this was for kick/punt returns mostly. Thought they'd go CB (Longerbeam or Mickens) here.

If they'd taken CB or LB in 4th, there were plenty of RB here (Damien Martinez, K. Monangai, LeQuint Allen, Mafah). I suppose Canales had Etienne in mind for his offense so I hope it works out.

All in all I thought it was a pretty solid draft. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Looks like a ff draft
