2025 Cleveland Browns - JOK Out for the Season (2 Viewers)

I don't think Pickett is going anywhere, any time soon - neither of the Rookies are NFL-ready, IMHO, and Watson likely doesn't see an NFL Field with live bullets flying until 2026...so who's going to be Flacco's backup? Right now, it's Pickett; that's who.
Agreed. OTOH, I could see Pickett starting.

Calling it: Flacco, who seems to still be playing nfl football only "because he's bored" at age 76 years old, is gonna start at least 10 games for Cleveland next year. 🤓 Im actually pulling for it. Wanna see Grampy sling it around while all the kids hold his can of Ensure.

Browns pretty much have to draft Shiloh now too, yeah?

My suspicion is that they had QB set for this slot
Seatle traded ahead of us to take Jalen Milroe two picks in front of us.
The guy we took absolutely sucks IMHO. Wasn't even rated in the top 200 and should have been a street free agent. Guy isn't 6' tall and is 24 years old. Complete garbage pick. I'm livid about wasting a 3rd round pick. WTF?
We were never take Shedeur after what Deon said about the Browns and Flacco and from everything that is out there about the luggage he brings. Shedeur has real football talent, but the draft picks were about building a team, not collecting talent according to a spokeswoman from the Browns FO. Everything I've uncovered about Shedeur off the field is what has been reported, no exaggerations. In this point in time of Internet shaming the tidal wave of karmic schadenfreude that would hit any team taking him... Especially the Browns after Watson debacle? Are ye kidd'n me? No F'ng way.
Bump

I see it this way.
If Sanders is a model citizen and shows some passion and hard work, maybe we got something.
If the diva crap continues......cut him

If I was tech savy I would post it, but if any of you are watching live, rewind to the video clip of the Browns draft room after the pick. The looks of grief and disappointment on everyone's face are amazing. I think Berry is actually frowning as he claps.

He and Stef both looked like they were receiving an enema. 🤓

Prime got in Jimmy's kitchen finally?
Holy smokes, at least Stefanski tried.

Does someone literally have a gun in Berry’s back?

I'd love to see the video. I haven't. Could it be that they had made their final pick and were happy to be done?

Berry literally looks like someone took a dump on the desk right in front of him.

and it smells reaalllly bad.

Andrew Berry's history with late rd 3 picks is certainly something

Jordan Elliott
Jacob Phillips
Anthony Schwartz
David Bell
Siaki Ika
Zak Zinter
Dillon Gabriel

Someone needs to start messing with the Browns wifi about 10 pm Friday of draft weekend.

The thrill of victory contrasted with the Sanders' family reaction

Add Fannin to your list...he was also 3rd round

EDIT...just saw you specified "Late". I was about to add more names

Late 3rd. He's been okay in the early 3rd- Tillman, Emerson, and Wright. The wheels go off the tracks once into the 80's.

Home run of a draft
Still processing everything, but I know I disagree with this
Graham, Judkins, Fannin, plus Sanders for a 5th and a 1st next year.

You right, not a home run. A grand slam.

I thought Gabriel bad, but big deal. If they got Sanders in the 3rd, and Gabriel in the 5th, everyone would be fine with it.
I don't think drafting either was good.
I'd rather have traded both picks for a 2026 2nd and go for our QB next year.

Home run of a draft
Denver Broncos' Sean Payton On Shedeur Sanders, NFL Draft Controversy: 'Beware'
"... There’ll be a chip on his shoulder and beware because this guy’s going to play in this league."
... Not being selected in the first round was a surprise, but falling past the second round was baffling based on the on-field evaluation. Sanders, at minimum, passes the typical talent threshold for the top 64 picks.
... it became increasingly clear the on-field evaluation isn’t the matter at hand.
... draft history and the lack of pedigree of the quarterbacks taken ahead of Sanders don’t add up.
--------------
Before the draft, my take on Shedeur.
I thought he was a 'legit' prospect with flaws but not enough for the type of slide we saw.
Shedeur: Fantastic footwork, if his primary is open, he's starting to get the ball out BEFORE he his back foot plants to make the 1-2-3 boom easy completion. Has a 'feel' for coverage and can throw-low into a small window. Keeps his eyes UP and looking downfield. Moves effectively in the pocket to reset his feet so he naturally extends plays. Played in an NFL offense with RPOs. Good eyes, reads coverage doesn't get fooled even when facing complex coverages and has ability to move the safety. He is accurate. Unquestioned toughness with natural leadership type of poise and confidence.
Good 'nuff athlete. Didn't have the best offensive line or running game but had Travis and some other 'decent' college WRs.
He's not flat out terrible at anything but...
He's got a hitch and an extended slow release going deep or deep in his reads. Not a 'great' runner but able. Eh arm strength where he floats/arch's the damn ball on every deep throw, not sure that cuts it with NFL safeties. He gets the ball out in the face of pressure but doesn't get rid of it fast enough, so he takes too many sacks.
If we take Hunter, we lack a QB but he's a blue-chip prospect IMHO.
If we take Shedeur we lack a #2 WR and our O-Line is old and frequently injured, and our running game isn't the greatest. The big downside in taking a QB at #2 IMHO is opportunity cost because I see Travis Hunter as a slam dunk.
I was pumping my fist when we took him, and I totally believe in my gut feelings.
The idiots who say he fell due to football reasons are FOS.

Thursday was great. The beginning of Friday surprising. The middle solid. And the end of it indefensible.

My immediate takeaway- this was not a Paul DePodesta draft. An ILB at 33 and a RB at 36 was not on my bingo card. If this were a team still in a window, okay, but on one that's 2 drafts away...very odd. I get that we need starters, just not double dipping at two positions with low expected 2nd contract value.

That and not even Gabriel is why this falls short of a home run though. The offensive line is where this fell short. All but Jones expire at season's end and is aged 30+. I don't think it needed to be the priority but at minimum one dart was needed. We're going to be looking back at this in 10 months saying this was a mistake.

Gabriel pick was a head scratcher but hard not to really like the draft for Cleveland. Picked up a 1 next year and still got a difference maker in Graham. Love the Fanin pick.

It's nice in the sense we got some good players and a future 1st, but certainly doesn't feel like we maximized our picks at all past round 2, and I can see the argument that we didn't maximize it past round 1

This. While we were still scratching or our heads after the Gabriel pick, my son asked "Who do we take next?" I said I don't know but I hope the rest of the picks are all offensive linemen. Instead we got none.

Some people are optimists like me, some aren't. Overall, I thought this draft brought a talent upgrade to the roster. Pairing Graham and Hall at DT pleases me. While Schwesinger didn't sniff my dance card, I'm intrigued by what I see. Undoubtedly, we upgraded the RB talent (twice!) which will be featured again as we go back to Stefanski's offense. Fannin should fit the system well, and be the heir apparent at TE. Good pick! Then there's Gabriel at the end of round 3. My first reaction was the same as most -- WTF??? A little more research showed that he has good fundamentals and reads Ds well. IMO, they see that and charted #94 for that purpose, though I don't discount the possibility that Milroe was Plan A. If so, it's good to have plan B in place, just in case. To finish, Sampson & Sanders were both BPA. Love that! A home run? As ever, we'll find out later. They added a lot of talented players, so I'm happy!

Sorry if honda. Thought this was interesting.

I've lost the guy who sent it to me, but imagine the Browns had drafted the players in this order:

5. Mason Graham
33. Shedeur Sanders
36. Carson Schwesinger
67. Quinshon Judkins
94. Harold Fannin
126. Dylan Sampson
144. Dillon Gabriel+Jags 2026 first-round pick.

It would be universally celebrated as a phenomenal draft.

maybe.

but what is the plan for 4 QBs on this roster? (not counting Watson)

you’re not sneaking Sanders onto the practice squad.

they’re not cutting Gabriel.

You’re not going into the season with Flacco and two rookies.

just what is the plan here?

trying to trade one of them? for what?

they look like idiots no matter how you cut it.

and again, what is the plan for the offensive line?

like Mac said, you have to at minimum throw one dart in that direction.

who knows, maybe they trade a QB for an OL.

Quite likely, one or two of them will suddenly come down with injuries right at the end of camp and have to go on IR.

I mean assuming Flacco doesn't throw out his back twisting to look behind him backing up his car. Or rising out of bed. Or any of the other ways old men like he and I have messed up our backs.

Just came in here to say, I had been cheering for you guys a couple of years ago. But I really couldn't with Deshaun Watson on the team.

I'll be cheering for you that Sanders learns from the experience and conducts himself in a better way that you'd want a QB (or any person, really) to do so. And if he does, will hope he finds some success on the field. Like maybe losing 5 straight AFC Championships to Houston. ;)

Anyway, best of luck guys. I know you've been through a lot.

Cowherd nailed this on Sanders.
"QB Dad is the new Pageant Mom"
Joe, got a lot of good black friends in Cleveland. Was listening live to the draft while driving around. One of my besties knew I went to CU during the National Championship seasons of the early 1990s and called me. I told him I heard the news and pumped my fists while driving a few cities away on COLORADO BLVD. 'no joke'.
I will say that I don't believe the 'theories' of ownership collusion but make NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT. There are deep seeded feelings from many African Americans that are very real and very raw. I have great relationships, but I'd advise to tread cautiously posting clickbait yucks from the other side, i.e., Colins of the world.
Did you see the response directly below his post where someone called out Colin for NOT SAYING the same thing when Archie pulled the same thing in 2002? Did he belittle and call Archie a Beauty Pageant Mom?
Let's be fair. Archie didn't have nearly the career or pull of Deion when he put Eli under his sashed skirt and Teirra and pranced him away from San Diego because he didn't want SD and wanted New York.
There is much more to Shedeur's fall than on-field performance and many people are 'hot' about it. I'd be respectful of their frayed feelings. Talk it out but be respectful. Something You are known for, but COWARD is not known for.

It's not that up upset with the draft, but I'll tell ya this.
Had we not drafted two RBs and two QBs in rounds 3-5 and instead drafted two OL and a couple defenders, I'd probably be happier right now. Or even if we made a deal for an additional 2026 2nd

but what is the plan for 4 QBs on this roster? (not counting Watson)
Gabriel is the #2 or #3 (tell me again why did we spend a 3rd rounder on this).

If Sanders shows up to camp like he did pre-draft, then he gets cut. Assuming he doesn't, then he's on the pathway to the other #2 or #3.

Then Pickett and Flacco 'battle' for the starting job. If Flacco is cooked, then he's tossed. Assuming he's not, then the team features Pickett more in the preseason, hoping to entice some team to trade for him, preferably for an OL under team control for more than one year.

Not sure featuring Pickett to trade him is wise when the rookies will need the work.
What are we gonna get? A 6th??

Thanks. Not sure what he said about Manning. But I know lots of folks who very much disliked Archie getting involved like he did. Same thing with Sanders. Hoping for the Browns and Shedeur it turns out as good for them as it did for the Giants and Eli.

It was a good draft, plus. With potential to be a VERY good draft
Were some moves a touch questionable? Sure. But you have to weave and bob with the draft as it comes to you... Shadeur in the 5th? you have to. We don't have a QB. I was pissed every time we passed on him after the first round, so imagine my joy when we took him in the 5th, 4 rostered QBs be damed... We have little/nothing invested in that QB room, so who cares?

Oh, and a tidbit I found over in Browns territory...

MAC Offensive Player of the Year - TE Harold Fannin Jr.
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year - QB Dillon Gabriel
SEC Offensive Player of the Year - RB Dylan Sampson
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year - QB Shedeur Sanders
Could be a new 'tell' for mid/late round picks along with age for AB drafts.

If a 1st round graded OT were available, I'd take them at the top of the 2nd round.
KC took OT Josh Simmons from Ohio State ONE PICK before we selected.
I heard we wanted him.
That killed me.
The guy I wanted at the top of the 2nd was taken one spot before.
what is the plan for the offensive line?
Mac and others also mentioned the O-Line.
I just don't think they were going to draft a developmental guy after the top guys got sniped so we go with what we have and after consideration, we are not bad at all on the O-Line.
These guys are older, but all have accolades. Pro Bowl LG. Pro Bowl C. Pro Bowl RG. ALL-PRO RT.
Last year ALL got injured at some point and at this point last year? Both starting OTs and Bitonio along with Dwand were recovering from surgeries. The media turned a blind eye to the devastation and it 'appears' the peeps here forgot how bad it was this time last year on the O-Line.
The guys aged a year, but we are NOT in the same boat on the O-Line this year.
Bitonio came back with a vengeance over the last five games. Everyone else is healthy. At LT we have Dwand and signed FA 6'8 327 Cornelious Bennett who graded well in pass-pro 79.1 with an overall grade of 74.1 at Pro Football Focus. We lost James Hudson, but we got this guy who was a high draft pick only a few years ago, has started at every position on the O-Line except center, and was the highest graded guy on his line last year. He's good and a perfect swingman.
For some reason he flew under my radar. He's very good.
Browns sign free agent offensive lineman Teven Jenkins
... Jenkins from left tackle to right tackle to right guard during the 2022 season. He eventually transitioned to left guard... Jenkins was arguably Chicago's best offensive lineman (four sacks allowed in 2024) ...
--------------------
If we stay healthy, we will have one of the best offensive lines in the league on talent alone.
