2025 Detroit Lions: 0-0 HOF Game on tape, as DC said..."We got work to do" (92 Viewers)

Lions might not be getting any production from Williams as a WR but he is a good blocker in the open field. Had a nice block on Montys TD

On another note The Dobber is looking pretty good in Minny. Too bad we lost him off the practice squad but happy for him as he seems like one of those late bloomers who is going to last awhile in the league.

Without Jamo hustling down there Monty doesn’t score. That was outstanding.

Joshua Dobbs is the story of the year for me. He’s a good dude, happy for him.

Detroit had him on their practice squad last year right after Thanksgiving for like two weeks. TEN pouched him & he started Weeks 17 & 18 with a playoff berth on the line.

Heard him on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast round then and he said “Listen man, I been around, this is my 5th team. That Detroit culture is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

How does that work..Can any team sign players off other teams practice squad? Would have liked to keep Dobbs around.

Williams is not doing squat as a receiver but he likes to mix it up blocking for sure.

Right now Reynolds is the WR we need to keep around, he is $$$. What is his contract status?

If you sign them, then you have to put them on your 53-man (I think for at least 3 weeks.) The mechanics of it are the player’s agent hears from the team that wants them. Then they go to the current team to see if they want to sign the guy (they have first right of refusal) or will let him walk.

Khalil Mack says they prepared as a defense for certain things and the Lions did the opposite.

"500 yards that's not acceptable. But not only that, the rushing yards is what pissed me off the most. It's just hard to even talk about."

Ben Johnson put on a master class yesterday. The Chargers had 8 weeks of tape and every play they ran was off a different platform than the first two months, their were no tendencies. He was two steps ahead of Staley from the jump.

Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, and Tuli Tuipulotu having ZERO sacks and only 5 pressures (per PFF.) I'll get to posting grades later but ARSB, Goff and Monty had the three highest scores, Frank, Graham and Penei all did not yield a single pressure. The run blocking was outstanding across the board, the entire team.

Jamo had the big block on the 75 yarder but Kalif was ahead of both of them and away from the ball, ARSB first sealed the [backside] Edge and then disrupted Asante Samuel Jr just enough to give Monty leverage on the angle. The cutback by Monty at the 42 was sick af, three Chargers took themselves out running into each other.

Rumor that Dan Campbell is a candidate to be the next head coach of Texas A&M.

Think it's just writer's speculating, nothing will come of it. But he's a proud Aggie and it's gotta be flattering on some level to be under consideration. I think he loves being the coach of the Detroit Lions but nothing lasts forever.

I saw that. And thought about it. And it sure feels like taking that job would go against everything he claims to stand for.

I know money talks, but I’d be really shocked if it happened.

This cycle doesn't fit where he is at, what they're building here, I think he's committed to seeing it through.

But down the road? Heck yes, dude is a Texan and coaching his alma mater would be a dream gig. But so is the one he has right now.

Only way at all I could mentally accept him going is if it meant Ben Johnson stays and moved up to HC.

Been meaning to tell you, we ran into a couple Lions fans from London while we were in Baltimore for the Ravens game. Met them at our hotel bar a couple times + tailgated with them pregame. They were awesome gents (other than being Gooners); one of them was a true Honolulu blue diehard, has been coming over for 6 games per year for the last 5 years. He's up to 22 NFL Stadiums, all as a visitors fan at Lions road games.

Looking ahead, bears are now getting 9 points. They opened at +7.5 last week, was then off the board, then reappeared as +9 last night.

Lions now -10, 47.0. Feel like the latter could creep up.

From MCDC's locker room speech and the undercurrent of listening to the defensive players, you could tell the team was a little pissed off Sunday night. Always good to get a dub but that was a little deflating to have an MA and give up the 4th down GL touchdown after stopping them 7 times on goal to go plays. Early on they played with great intensity and they were physical, but once again we saw the same ole same ole - slow developing pressure, soft zone coverage.

I'm exasperated with AG. IDK why we don't send 5 or 6 guys, we're askng too much from our front 4 and not enough from the back 7. Dial up more blitzes and show you trust the dudes in the backfield by playing some press man. This slow death by a thousand cuts is excruciating.

Anyway, I have a feeling the guys on that side are about to bounce back and have themselves a day. I'm expecting a dominant defensive performance Sunday v the Bears.

Jamo only played 34 snaps, 18 routes run, but had his most consistent game. Graded 66.7; baby steps, but trending in the right direction for the first time in awhile.

Malcolm Rodriguez had himself a helluva game in limited opportunities. Only played 10 snaps - season high 5 at FB, including his first pass protection, and 5 at LB. The latter all came during that stopped 'em 7 straight plays GL stand that ultimately ended in another Keenan Allen TD on the 8th G to go play. Highest graded defender at 91.9, 23 tackles, 2 run stops inside the 2 yard line. At fullback he graded 66.7 with a respectable blocking grade of 68.1

Jack Campbell logged 39 snaps (out of 66), 5th best run defender at 72.0 and the highest pass rush grade at 70.5 on 2 pass rush snaps. Had a missed tackle but overall solid effort including a stop in the almost epic GL stand.

Hutch had his best run D grade of the year at 76.1. His pass rush grade of 69.4 ranks 6th best out of 9 games; 3 hurries and 3 QB hits, but I believe that's 4 straight without a sack.

Benito Jones had his best game since Week 5, 2nd best grade he's achieved this year.

Was not a good day for Branch, Joseph and Sutton - 3 lowest graded defensive players.

Jerry Jacobs did everything well v the Chargers: Tackling 75.1, run d 64.8, coverage 61.6, overall 63.0.

Alim McNeil was once again a stout MFer, highest grade amongst the starters at 86.2 and 2nd to Rodriggo in run D at 84.5. 50 snaps is exhausting for a 3-tech but he was up for it, dude should make the Pro Bowl this year.

Alex Anzalone came in at 72.8, he's now at 74.0 on the season. So much better in 2023 than his first two years in Detroit. Imagine that, dude getting paid then earning it, what a concept.

Will Harris played well. On 5 snaps, 1 coverage snap. Thank you. Was beginning to think the coaches were literally blind.

John Cominsky was solid in his 27 snaps. OVERALL 73.5 RDEF 70.5 TACK 69.6 PRSH 64.8.

Julian O had a poor overall grade but had the 4th best run D grade at 75.8.

Josh Paschal logged a season high 39 snaps, Buggs 32. After seeing only 17 snaps v LV Derrick Barnes saw 38 uninspiring snaps in L.A.

There's a lot to cleanup from the D in the this one but I think that will be highly motivating as they prepare for Chicago.

I'll get to the offense later (or not at all), ya guys saw it, Ben was a mad scientist and the players executed to near perfection. Great game by the OL - they're the engine that powers everything - but that was close to peak from the whole offensive squad.

As it should have been. Our first time having our starters all healthy. We have been missing key parts at both OL and skill positions all season. We had huge plays from 6 different offensive weapons.
Monty...75 yard run
Gibbs...35 yard run, 24-yard reception
ARSB...46-yard reception
Raymond....41-yard reception.
Wright...25-yard TD reception.
LaPorta...19-yard reception and key 3rd and 4th down ones.

Lol...many of my so-called hyperbolic predictions have come close to true. Jamo is the only very slowly developing one, but I still see him becoming a very important piece by the post season. 8 more games of baby steps.

My guess is if LaPorta would of had 20-yards instead of 19, it would have been the first time in NFL history a team had had 6 players with plays from scrimmage of 20-yarss or more. Even 5-players probably tied or maybe even set the record. I have not seen anyone who has researched it though. But very unusual occurrence which I have never seen.

You might be right. In 2011 the Patriots opened the season by putting up 622 total yards against the Fins - 5 different NE players had a splash play over 20 (all of them passes.)

The 177 first half rushing yards was the most for Detroit since 1991, Barry's Y3 season.

As an aside, you want to see an explosive offense check out the Houston v Cincinnati replay this week. Stroud outplayed Burrow and they had 17 explosives (10+); 7 different players had gains of 15 or more. That was with Nico Collins and Dameon Pierce both out. On the road.

Not your momma’s Texans anymore, they are legit.

Poor Bryce Young. No matter how good he becomes, he will always be looked at by Panther fans as could have been CJ Stroud. What an incredible story.

Finally watched the game.
Gibbs just continues to look amazing. I’m scared about how long we will get to enjoy him, RB is just a volatile position injury wise.
Shame Jamo’s TD got called back was good to see him get that look very early on in the game. Loved his block for the Monty TD
Can the Vikings stop winning please, enough now. Broncos have been looking better of late so there is some hope. It would be nice to shake them from our tail, a 1-1 split against them at worst is going to be pivotal.
Interception by Joseph was brilliant.

He is +480 for a TD Sunday (which seems awfully high, would have expected something in the lower 300s-Mooney for The Bears is the same +480). Based on the two things you cite (they continue to target him and work on a reward system of sorts) I have bet he finds the end zone this weekend and am hoping its with a bomb early to set the tone! As a FWIW, DPJ is also +480.

The thing I liked about Gibby is on his run down to the 1 he could have went OB around the 5, instead put his head down and cut into the defender and looked like he scored.

DC was on The Ticket yesterday and said the reason he went for it on 4th is that he did not think they could stop Herbert with that much time left. So yes the defense is a little bit of concern. Said in games like that you have to get a stop here and there.

Hopefully soon we will talk more about Williams than his blocking.

Jamo is slowly gaining confidence of the coaching staff and Goff. Clearly he has not picked up the pro game nearly as fast as LaPorta (reading defenses, running percise routes), but I think is getting there. Seeing him in over 50 percent of the plays, being where he is supposed to be, catching the balls thrown his way, making big blocks...that is the kind of stuff that going to keep him on the field and having Goff look for him more. It is not showing up in the stats yet, but that was a solid game.

Total Offense through week 10:

Total yards, passing, rushing, points

1. Miami....3918, 2587, 1331, 285
2. Detroit....3658, 2497, 1251, 241
3. SF.....3450, 2238, 1212, 252
4. Dallas....3412, 2351, 1061, 269
5. Philly....3391, 2224, 1167, 252

Our issues in the red zone has hurt our point total, but our offense through 9 games looks solidly like the #2 offense in the NFL. I think we have more upside with the way Gibbs is coming on, our OL finally being healthy, and Jamo not yet hitting his stride. Currently project out to slightly more than 6900 yards. I think both Miami and us hit that 7,000 yard mark which puts us with a select few historically elite offenses. Of course having the extra game is cheating. But still, Detroit is currenly trailing only Miami while just starting to peak.

Mooney really has been an afterthought in the offense.

Right! Heck, the Lions D is "only" +500 to score a TD which made Jamo an even more solid look, all things considered. I did bet a bit on the Lions D +500 to score a TD as a hopefully stale Fields has the potential for a pick 6 or fumble recovery for a TD.

Thanks. FanDuel has it at +500. Put a decent bet down.

Hope he catches 3 TDs. Going against Gibbs, Brown and La Porta this week (and the Lion D). Have Montgomery. Sort of a big game for me....

In one league, I'm starting Monty, Gibbs, ASTB...and I'm thinking of picking up R. Patterson.

Talk about having eggs all in one basket.

Team Name Renamed: Detroit Rock City Destroyers.

Now your expectations are realistic. (y) Not sure where the low block penalty was on his TD. Was not near his blockers.

I do think he is ready to break a long one soon.

That’s where I got the +480. WTH. Doubled up at +500.

In the All22 video regarding Jamo that Bobby Layne posted the commentator draws attention to Deckers attempted block in the video. To me the intent was clear that Decker was going low but the defender back stepped resulting in very minimal contact. It looked like he just barely brushed his leg.
The penalty had no effect on the play.

In general the video suggests that Jamo is coming around with room for improvement. Effort is not the issue. I think this improvement is supported by Jamo getting more snaps.

Dan Campbell said today the effort plays downfield are helping Jamo feel more like one of the guys. Feels like he’s becoming more comfortable and he’s earned more opportunities bc of all that.

You wish he’d just step on the field and dominate but if it takes baby steps so be it. I’ve criticized Jamo when I thought it was warranted but I’m like every other sloppy who just wants to see him succeed.

  • Buggs (illness) and Jonah Jackson (wrist/ankle) no practice today
  • Onwuzurike (hip), Melifonwu (hand), and Kalif Raymond (ankle) were limited

Jamo was just not prepared to play the NFL game, he is not at all like Olave and Wilson the players taken in front of him. Going to be a work in progress but he seems to be getting better. I want one big game..5-6 catches for 150+ 2 TDs with one long one to get him going. It might happen in the next 2 games, the conditions are ripe.

Always wondered if Olave, Wilson and Jamo were all there at 12 who Holmes would have drafted.

I think Deckard did go low on someone in the backfield, but it looked like he missed completely.

Jamo. They really liked he played hard on special teams and the way he blocked, and then of course his speed and allusiveness. I think they thought he was a dog. I doubt they would have moved up for the other two.

Interesting thing in Gibbs first touchdown, after he broke a long run to get it down to the one, Monty was sent into the game to snipe the TD. Monty asked Gibbs if he wanted it, and said yes and Monty ran to the sideline.

Possibly the person he was targeting was a replicant

Just picked up Jack Campbell in a large roster (38 player) IDP dynasty league. Surprised he was dropped. What’s the outlook for him going forward? Is he showing signs of being ‘the guy’ in the future? Somehow I’ve now got him, Hutchinson and Branch, along with Jamo on that same team, so GO LIONS!!
