2025 Miami Dolphins - Draft 2025 (2 Viewers)

So no news is good news?
He's got to pass a physical too, I left a couple links with one from Twitter that shows his entire right leg in a sleeve as he displays his fine footwork dropping back in pass blocking.

3 year deal they can get out of in 1 year is my guess. I also think Miami is prime for more players to be added into the mix during the Draft. Not everyone will make the final roster. The entire Defense including much of the depth and special teams is coming back plus they retained the DC to show he had a hand in things here not just Flores.

Every Draft pick they make on Defense has to take a roster spot if they have all starter returning. Many ore holes to fill in on Offense including 1-2 WRs, they need them. Perhaps 1-2 more OL with the idea one of them might actually be starting their Rookie season. They need a QB, 😆   sorry but I had to. Kenny Pickett from Pitt at #50...just to develop a long term back up so we don't have to pay Teddy B $7.5M to just sit on the bench, what a waste of money when you have the 5th overall pick from 2 years ago starting at QB.

I can’t help but wish we had waited on bringing a QB in. I like Teddy, he’s a good backup and plays with a lot of toughness, but it looks like someone is going to get a bargain with Mayfield. There isn’t much of a market left for him (Seattle? Carolina?) so it looks like Cleveland isn’t going to get much in return. I get that it would create a huge controversy, but Tua hasn’t shown to be the answer yet. We all hope that he is, this year is make or break for him in Miami.  Mayfield has played well at times when he wasn’t playing through so many injuries. Not likely going to happen, but just my thoughts on the situation.

Could not agree more. Not sure what we paid Teddy but it would be awesome to trade a conditional 3rd or 4th and bring Baker into the cuts here, have them compete in camp and see which one rises to the surface. I'd like to believe Tua would win the battle and we would have an expensive back up for 1 year but it might be worth it to light a fire under the Offense.

I think Baker might have a stronger arm but Tua has been very accurate on the short routes.

I haven’t heard or read a peep on us having any interest, but I would hope they’re at least kicking the tires on the idea.

I wonder if a physical exam AND an MRI of the knee are in order given that he ended the season with a knee injury.

Armstead was the top overall FA on some lists. He won't come cheap.

Not if Cleveland wants a first which is what has been reported. We need to add more parts this year and keep both number ones next year to use if we need to move up in the draft for a long term answer at QB. Mayfield is a mouthy, cocky version of Tannehill. I'd rather have Tanne back.

No way I’d give up a #1 obviously by my original post. I only brought this up if it is a bargain. I’d be absolutely floored at this point if anyone pays a first for him, but stranger things have happened. It’s pretty much widely known that Cleveland has to trade him to avoid a massive cap hit, and the market just doesn’t seem to be there.

This is probably all pointless anyway since it looks like we have our QBs for 2022. I’m just spitballing.

Wait, are we having a conversation about BAKER F'n MAYFIELD??????  Are you kidding me????  Guy had all the talent in the world on that roster and an O line and running game to boot and was throwing moonballs at the rock and roll HOF rather than into OBJ's hands.  Come on you guys!  Baker Mayfield is what MOP thinks Tua is!

(this almost deserves the Batman/robin slap meme).  Mayfield at any draft pick compensation is a waste of a draft pick.  Again, you can excuse Tua's performances bc the O line was suspect.  What is Mayfield's excuse?  Top to bottom the Browns were a better team (our defense was better, but not by a heck of a lot, and that doesn't change the QB talk)

Injuries? He probably had no business playing through a separated shoulder. I thought he played well two years ago. 11-5 and won a playoff game. I think the chances Tua does that this coming season are slim (hope I’m wrong).

My main point was I’d rather have Mayfield than Teddy. That’s all. I don’t think he’s the second coming of Marino or anything.

Fair, and if it cost nothing but money to get him, I'd likely agree with you, but getting onto a bidding war (Seattle whomever) for someone who isn't our starter makes no sense.

:lmao:

-Such is life for many Phinsfans, both sides of this coin

:lmao:

What is Mayfield's excuse?
Torn Labrum in 2021

2020-3,500 yds pass, 26Tds Pass vs only 8 Interceptions...Tua ain't even close to this yet, honestly!

Passer Rating 96 that season...sorry 95.9 but who's counting....should I try and pull up Tua's Stats?

Tua 11Td vs 5 Int his rookie year and last year he threw for 16 Td vs 10 interceptions...be very careful the lane you drive thru on this one Gator, you should look at their stats since they both entered the league side by side, it's pretty interesting quite honestly.

-If I were Ross and I could get Baker Mayfield for less than a 1st and eat Teddy B's money and just say sorry but we gotta try and see which of these two guys is worth keeping, we know Teddy is not a franchise QB let him go.

Think deep and outside the box on this one, search your feelings Luke, let it go! 😂

-I was even surprised when I looked into baker's numbers. He has 2 seasons already that are higher QBRs than what Tua has done, one of them was Baker's rookie year.

He's better than many think he is, all we're saying here.

I'm not going to engage in this circle jerk.  Suffice to say I wonder what baker's numbers would look like behind a crap o line w no running game vs the O line he has and not one but 2 all world backs. (I'd argue putting Tua in baker's position last year makes a huge difference for the brownies as well).

Anyhow: Armstead left the facility without a deal.  Grrrrr.

-Aren't we looking at this about the same? I just would like to see some competition vs waiting another year or two and starting all over again when we could see what else is out there simultaneously.

Hear you on Armstead...Bernhard Raimann is the name I think you might want to familiarize yourself with. Offensive Tackle from Central Michigan, 1st round grade we might steal at #50 although I could live him at #29.

My position is always: if the players are nearly the same, take the one that doesn't cost draft capital.  Teddy > Baker bc you can simply sign him. (same way I felt about Brees vs Culpepper BTW).

I hope he stays healthy for y'all.  If he does, he's a stud anchor at LT.  We had to move on as the line is already taking up enough cap space with the horrible deal they gave Peat :wall:

Let's start the over/under for the number of games Terron Armstead is going to start in a Miami uniform in 2022?

Is 12 a pretty good number to start with? That would mean missing 5 or perhaps 1/3 of the season.

-Honestly Miami should still be setting their sights on a strong OL prospect at 29 or 50, free agency has never worked here in Miami. It didn't help Shula, never worked for Jimmy or Wanny and it hasn't been a great tool for the Phins in recent memory with big name signings like Suh and Wallace, I hope this one is different.

I'd love for Armstead to teach and guide a Rookie over the next couple years that will eventually replace him, he's already been in the league 10 YEARS! This is still a stop gap for maybe 2 years, maybe Austin Jackson can learn a few things from him, yeah right.

LT-Armstead, LG-Connor Williams, C-TBD, Right side of the line will be a mix of Hunt/Eich and Jackson.

Have a feeling many of you feel like Barry Jackson tweeted out earlier in the evening. I do think they are addressing their needs systematically, doesn't make them all great moves.

Tua got almost everything on his checklist this off season.

Left Tackle-Check

Left Guard-Check

Center-we're working on it.

Running Back upgrade-Check, Col Mustard is in the house

Running Back athleticism expanded-Check, Fast Eddie is in the house and catches a lot of balls

Fullback-Check and he blocks really well.

Tight End resigned-Check Gesicki is back and wouldn't you know they brought back Smythe.

Wide receiver to compliment my Buddy from Bama-Check! Might be the best signing of any free agent wide receiver we saw available.

And they still might be looking at guys in the Draft, they can kiss Parker good bye in June if they do this right.

You realize just cutting Parker will save them a huge chunk of what they shelled out for Armstead. I don't see Parker making the team at this point, the Draft will likely seal it.

Tua got it all, almost.

I’ll take 8-10 games of Armstead over 16 games of Jesse Davis.

Armstead
Williams
Tretter/Linderbaum
Hunt
Eichenberg
I knew you were going to post this, not sure I can disagree.

Parker is a savings of $8M after June 1st I believe or very close. Jesse Davis is upwards of $3M-$4M...add up those two and you almost have Armstead's salary. Both could easily be on their way out of here.

Preach!

Phins are setting things up the way teams should (finally). Plug holes in FA draft bpa regardless of position. Now we can look to the future a little.

center and lb still need to be addressed but the good news is they are still out there. Signing the best fa tackle who also happens to be a heck of a leader should make this line (with all its young talent) better and more coach able.

let’s spend a moment looking to the future and see where the draft may fall:

qb: not this year but some of the moves we make in the draft may be to get another pick or two next year if we need to go qb shopping.

rb: later rounds maybe but that room is crowded now.

wr: we can always use another guy.

te: doubt it.

o line:  I still think we take one. Center guard type perhaps.

d line: tackles are set. You can never have enough edge guys.

lb: another one would help. If we sign one before the draft this position will be set.

cb:  interesting. I think we draft one. X Seems to be the guy we will extend for cap help until his wheels fall off. Jones, not so much. I think this is, at best, his last year here so we need to decide “draft and develop “ or “shop for it next year “ (the JC noise makes me think fins are looking to make a move here)

safety: loaded but a back half of the draft st guy may be an idea.

special teams:  some (well one) interesting player in the draft at punter. Kicker seems to be set. Returners and gunnners all on team and LS seem to be covered.

hard to argue w what Greer did here. We can nit pick not getting TA and L’aell but that’s not a huge ding.

Have to think they are eyeing the Iowa center in the draft. He’ll most likely be there at 29.
Most mock drafts have Linderbaum going earlier than 1.29.  If he's there, he might be BPA. What if Jameson Williams is available? He might've been the first WR taken if not for the ACL injury.

I love Williams so I’d have no problem drafting him at 29. I think it’s a huge win if either is there and they don’t have to move up.

Tyler Linderbaum is the guy ye speak of and he's rated as a potential Top 15 pick, not saying he doesn't slide to Miami at 29 but there are some juicy options Miami will need to look at on Defense. LB/Edge and there's a lot of nice DB-Safety options. I get that Holland is a madman, i get that Brandon Jones is coming along nicely, want to move Eric Rowe and his $5M salary on his merry way. He only played about half the snaps last year on Defense, he's not vital and we can use those resources elsewhere.

I also feel like a Wide Receiver could slip down in that late 1st round and I like the idea of Waddle-Wilson-Strong Rookie with some jets. I'm fading on Parker and he also will save us a bunch when we release him after June 1st.

Assuming they don’t sign anyone this seems to be the logical thought. I’d prefer they sign someone and then draft him anyway
THIS!

-And I would expand it to other positions and let's look at these OL Free Agents as good sound stop gaps until we can hit in the Draft. If you want to stay within the cap long term and by long term I mean Tua likely heading for $35-$40M per season, you can bank on it unless he absolutely falls apart this year. You can't pay everyone 8 figures a season and survive long.

-Armstead is great in theory but lots of beef in this Draft, get his successor in here to learn from him. You pay him all that money, let him rub off on some young OL.

Justyn Ross-Wide Receiver, Clemson

His Freshman year they hailed him as a future high 1st round pick. Injuries the last couple seasons and the pandemic had an impact on this guy but he is set to enter the NFL and I like him a lot.

6-4, 205-He's tall and I think we need a big body to push Parker on his way out of here. I like his upside, he's done it at a high level vs the biggest competition in college football and would compliment Waddle.

-We whiffed on one guy from Clemson, you might have seen him running for a 75 yd TD in the Super Bowl, his name is Tee Higgins.

Pick 101 that we have, he might slide that far.

I wouldn't sleep on Dotson at 29 either.  Speed everywhere...

That's a good name, and the other guy I really like...

MoP is Skyy High on Skyy Moore

He sure isn't tall but I see a guy with great hands and makes defenses pay when they fall asleep on him. What he could do with a guy like Waddle opposite him?

29-50-101, there are legit WRs to be had at all of these spots, i expect Miami to draft another WR since they have so many other spaces filled thru free agency. Why not help Tua out some more?

this is a great WR draft.  (I think Miami should trade Parker to GB for a 5th, but that's me)

Jets & Dolphins going hard after Tyreek Hill - just wow

Waddle & Hill on the same field would be sweet.

I know it's only March but sweet baby Jesus I'm getting excited for this season.
