2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Huff for a draft pick? To paraphrase Billy Preston: Something from nothing is something. (21 Viewers)

Commies losing a big one here. This may or may not help us bring Milton back though

Commanders informed two-time Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen today that he is being released, per sources. The team is allowing Allen to hit free agency early, and he now is expected to be one of the top DTs on the market.

Chiefs not having a good offseason all down hill since losing to us

Former Texas star WR and Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy was arrested Friday Night in Williamson County, TX.

Charges: Criminal charge of assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.

Harold Landry got released, which changes the calculus on how attractive a signing he is- don’t give up any picks and don’t lose any compensatory picks.

What do we think?

Hes gonna get paid by somebody. Hard to see us signing 2 high cost lbers
He plays OLB in an odd man front. How would he fit at EDGE for us? Good sack production, actually really strong in coverage, when asked.

He was graded 197th out of 211 qualifying EDGE guys in pass rush grading at PFF. He also graded out outstandingly against the run. My thought is if you like to get pressure with four, he's not your guy. You have DTs that are run stuffers. Your EDGEs need to get to the QB.

Appreicte the response. Didn’t he have like three double-digit sack seasons? I’ll admit I don’t watch a lot of Totans games

I thought so. 2021 he had 12 sacks. 2023 he had 10.5. Last year he had 9. He's not awful, but he's 28 and comes with a price tag. Stout against the run, apparently.

Yeah, if his price is too high, probably not. I wonder how much he’s looking to get.

I just looked and can't find it. He was set to count 24.5 million against the cap with a salary of 17.5 million dollars. If he were to have been traded, it would have been two years at 35 million dollars, but none of it was guaranteed.

The good thing here is that there seems to be a lot of edge guys available either via FA, trade and draft. Theres going to be some good value later on

This maybe against popular opinion but I'm pleased Garrett is staying in Cleveland. The Fangio scheme seems to require the edge rushers to drop into coverage from time to time. Had we traded for Garrett I'm not sure how well he would have fit into the scheme.

Never was happening here anyway. Financially didn’t make sense for CLE to trade with the albatross of a contract Watson has

From trade to truce and beyond: the Browns and Myles Garrett reached agreement today on a contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes almost $123 million in guaranteed money and now makes him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, sources tell ESPN. Garrett’s agent, Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports and Browns GM Andrew Berry finalized the deal today.

The contract also includes a no-trade clause and ties Garrett to the Browns through the 2030 season. The path from Cleveland to Canton is back on as Garrett continues his pursuit of a championship for the team that drafted No. 1 overall in 2017.

I really hate this if true. This is a main reason why many victims don’t come forward. It looks true she made it up as he wasn’t charged

For a joke team like Cleveland to pay this is absurd. You need to tear that team down and start from scratch.

He wont ever win one playoff game there. What a joke. Thought he wanted to win

Guess he figured out that the best way to tackle his dreams is by tackling quarterbacks... and his bank account!

Hey, good on him I guess. Dude made bank and set up his great grandchildren up for life. His legacy will take a hit since he's been on loser teams, but I'm sure he'll sleep just fine on that pile of cash.

Just hate to see greatness wasted. He was rich before. How much money do you really need

I'm in for cheap, but this draft is just too loaded at DE to overpay now that Myles Garrett is out of the equation. Landry seems to be a very good run defender and gets sacks, but his pressure % last year somehow was below 5% which seems very odd for a guy that almost had 20 sacks the past 2 seasons.

I mean it is a **** ton of money. I can deal with Cleveland for $122m guaranteed. 6 years of your life and then your family and generations to come are set for life.

Not one of the big moves today scare me. Garret is now stuck on a loser team, Metcalf is on a team with no QB, and a 32yo Adams is playing with a 37yo QB.

Then there’s the Josh Allen signing. $55M/year, with $250M guaranteed for a guy with 0 SB appearances. Makes Hurts and his $50M, $110M guaranteed with 2 SB appearances and 1 SB win look like even more of a bargain.

For sure but the Eagles didn’t have the assets or financials or this either. Roseman stated he wants to play the younger guys more.

Absolutely not, that's why I never thought Philly was a serious suitor. There was zero shot they could afford him.

Burrow the only one that's been to one. I forgot Mahomes isn't top 10 anymore.

I'd still put Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson over Hurts. Not a huge fan of the other guys on the list though.

It’s going to be a pretty quiet week for us. Seems pretty clear we’re going to sit back, let a few comp picks come our way and then fill out the roster via trades, the draft, and the FA’s that become available after the other teams make their roster moves, which don’t count against the comp picks.

Fine with me. We just want to be in a position where we don't have any glaring needs going into the draft so we have flexibility there for Howie to cook. Seems like there are enough DT's / Rushers in the draft or FA to draft some guys or sign some guys at a ring-chasing discount.

Great side effect of this build is that we can not only celebrate a Superbowl but also sit back and enjoy watching other teams make crazy deals in panic mode.

Yeah, we extended who we wanted to. We rarely let a guy get to FA that we really want back.

Having said that, surprised at the word that they're shopping Goedert right now. I know we're probably targeting TE in the draft but probably don't want to go into it with it being an obvious need? Would think maybe we've got a plan for adding a FA TE but not Howie's style if it would interfere with comp picks.

I'm leaning more toward the Eagles trading out of this spot for a 2026 1st (unless one of the top 2 TEs drop).

He’s got no guaranteed money left on his contract so he’s also a possible release (no cap hit, 100% of his 2025 salary gets opened up), so makes sense to see if there’s a market before releasing him, if that’s what they ultimately decide.

I think TE is a target, regardless, but it may be a stop-gap solution for this season, especially if the draft doesn’t shake out in their favor for a potential starting rookie.

Read Bechton wants to come back to Philly, willing to take a discount.
I have a feeling he’s going to get offers that, even after factoring in a discount, is still going to be a lot more than we are willing to offer, since they have Steen, who is cost-controlled.

FA class for what we need is fairly weak honestly
