After the last SB Lurie wanted to bring the band back and signed a bunch of these types back. This is a step in the right direction!
Yep. This time I think it helps that there is a lot of young talent and four strong drafts in a row. That was not the case in 2018.After the last SB Lurie wanted to bring the band back and signed a bunch of these types back. This is a step in the right direction!
Boom, and there goes both the post June 1 cuts! The #Eagles are releasing veteran DB James Bradberry, source said. He will be designated as a post-June 1 release.
Problem doing that is a lot of those guys only cared about individual stats and awards. A lot of those guys should not have come back outside of Blount and LongAfter the last SB Lurie wanted to bring the band back and signed a bunch of these types back. This is a step in the right direction!
So well deserved even if he’s already well paid. Now he’s not just paid like an RB but like a true difference making NFL player.Saquon gets extra paid.
This is what setting the market looks like instead of chasing it. Will look like a phenomenal deal in a year or soEagles are rewarding Saquon Barkley with a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, per sources. The deal makes Barkley the NFL’s first $20 million+ per-year running back. Barkley also has the ability to earn an additional $15 million in incentives and escalators. The deal includes $36 million fully guaranteed at signing.
The Eagles are taking the rare step of extending Barkley one year into his three-year deal - and in the same league year in which they signed him to the initial contract.
The cap hit for Saquon was on the books for $13,575,000 and now the new cap hit is cut in half to around $6,861,000This is what setting the market looks like instead of chasing it. Not the biggest on paying huge $$ for RBs do to their avg shelf life in the NFL but there’s only a few RBs you break that rule for in Henrey and barkleyThis is what setting the market looks like instead of chasing it. Also - shows the rest of the team if you perform, you will be rewarded. I'm sure Howie is working like hell trying to sign as many of the UFA's we have, and probably realistically will get 2 top guys at most. All around just a good way of doing business - letting the guys you know you are going to cut go early, so they can try to get a head start on free agency, extending guys early, not using the franchise, etc. From top down, its one of the premier places to go as a player as far as how you are treated to your prospects of winning a lot of games. In the end, its a cost savings b/c players DO sign here for less - free agents and retention players alike. Its a culture that's hard to beat, and obviously coming off the LIX BTA, its hard to argue against it.Aside from rewarding someone for elite play, the Barkley contract accomplishes two things:
Cuts his cap hit for 2025 about in half.
Makes things more difficult for other teams with star RBs who will want a contract like Barkley's.
That sucks. I presume that if it were any other game, he wouldn't have played.BG re-tore his just healed triceps in the Super Bowl, per D Gunn
Thank god the Eagles have learned from their mistakes ...Saquon gets extra paid.
Reminds me of how they handled TO after 2004. This is the complete opposite, so maybe the org learned from that mess. Also - shows the rest of the team if you perform, you will be rewarded. Remember TO wanting to get paid after setting Eagles records while on that ****ty contract?
Remember Dawkins leaving for like 100k more?
Pay your top performers. Yes, sometimes you are over paying, sometimes its past their prime, etc. However, NEVER FORGET, every other player in the league is watching and thinking about where they WANT to play, and where they DO NOT want to play.

First of all, from the Browns’ situation with Myles Garrett, they do not intend to trade Myles Garrett. I think they’ve made that very clear when teams have called them. That is something that has been evident, they’ve said it privately and publicly. Could that change down the road? Could that change if he really is saying ‘I’m not going to play for this team’? Maybe. We’ve seen things happen. But, as of right now, very, very firmly the Browns are saying ‘We are not trading Myles Garrett.’
And as far as the Philadelphia Eagles go, yes, they’ve paid a lot of money to their own guys. All of their best players are locked in on huge deals, from Saquon [Barkley] to Jalen [Hurts] to A.J. Brown to DeVonta Smith, there are many of them. Even though they cleared some cap space yesterday, here’s what I want to point out: if the Eagles were going to take on a huge contract for Myles Garrett, and if he gets traded anywhere, he’s going to be the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, no doubt about it. In order to take on that contract, they would have to get rid of other very big contracts of their own. Even the Eagles can’t just fit everybody they want.
I would be very surprised if this happened. It is a great rumor, it’s a great rumor. But I’d be very surprised if this happened.
Ian Rapoport had the following to say on Wednesday morning’s episode of Good Morning Football:

TO would’ve complained how the parking lot attended didn’t address him as Mr TO then. The dude always found a way to cause drama on any team he was on.

Wow, reasonable money too. I thought for sure someone was going to overpay for him.Schefter reporting Baun resigned. Three years $51M.
Haha free agency hasn't started yet.Wow, reasonable money too. I thought for sure someone was going to overpay for him.Schefter reporting Baun resigned. Three years $51M.
It’s remarkable to see when people unlearn things and evolve. I feel like it’s rare to see at this level.Eagles have paid a RB and LB top money. Who is this team?
That's my point, I thought he'd wait.Haha free agency hasn't started yet.Wow, reasonable money too. I thought for sure someone was going to overpay for him.Schefter reporting Baun resigned. Three years $51M.
Now lets get Milton Williams back!
He's a smart guy, he knows the situation + coaching and his hard work really paid off. Plus he said he likes to win.Surprised at amount. He must love it here
I think Baun looked at it as the best possible fit for him play wise and he loves the city for his family. Why go elsewhere for a few bucks more and possibly have to learn a whole new system and maybe not live up to the pay. That's my point, I thought he'd wait.Haha free agency hasn't started yet.Wow, reasonable money too. He is one of the highest paid LBs in the league. It is obvious to anyone Vic made him. Who else is going to give him this money?3/51 Zack Baun re-signed.
Gotta be honest, I'm very surprised by this, not by by them re-signing him, but they doing it so cheaply. I figured he'd leave, because he'd command 20+ mill yearly.
