2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Beat KC, anti-Tush Push discourse, questionable OC promotion from within. Everything old is new again! (67 Viewers)

After watching Dak post game comments and seeing the video again, I hope he gets a slap from the office too. Absolutely provoked the interaction. Tried to make it out as a misunderstanding and he was just spitting on the ground innocently. Dude walked up to between his O lineman and stared Carter down with a crazy came at me bro type of grin. UNreal

(Not that it excuses Carter, but context matters)
Exactly. Carter got ejected and will still get a fine deserved so. You don't spit on someone. But if the league is cracking down on taunting as they say, Dak will get a fine.

Also, nice of NBC to sit on the Dak footage for over 3 hours before showing it. Well done
I thought I saw some talk on the socials that Dak did something to provoke the response and it was getting some juice especially during the delay. I think the nfl made NBC release it the tape then. If not they weren’t going to show that till after the game until everyone went to bed.

Yes he did provoke it and Carter has to be more mature and not take the bait.

My issue is that within 10 MAYBE 20 seconds of that play happening NBC knew the “why”. Them sitting in it for 3+ hours feels dirty to me.

Just watched Baldy's Breakdown, we got a real special player in Jihaad Campbell. He's going to be a problem for offenses.
Yeah, he def flashed last night. Bright spot in an ugly win full of troubling performances.

Just remember, last season the team had a troubling start to the season as well. How'd that turn out?
Can’t be relying on that every season though. If they don’t get their **** together fast with this brutal early schedule we could be in for some issues

We don't even know what they are. Jalen Carter who plays 90% of the snaps (maybe more this year) didn't even play one. Dak said, that ejection changed their whole blocking scheme. If Jalen Hurts didn't play and we won, would people say, they need to get their stuff together?

Also, after the delay, neither offense had any rhythm. The extenuating circumstances of this game are enough for me to not overreact to this game and just be happy they got a victory after pretty much everything went against them.

A lot of crazy talk and manufactured outrage on display from commentators, social media, etc.

All of these things can be true:
  • Jalen Carter spitting was unacceptable and getting tossed was a completely fair consequence
  • Jalen Carter spitting was not a heinous act that will crumble the sanctity of the NFL or its image (sexual and domestic abusers play every weekend, Myles Garret tried to cave someone's skull in and just got a mega deal and could be DPOY, etc.)
  • Dak probably wasn't totally innocent and a fine wouldn't be out of line, but it's not a devastating travesty if he skates on it

YOU MUST PICK A SIDE BRO

Great post though for real most of this will be forgotten in the next 48 hours when all the other games are going

Until he is suspended or fined and the haters will tell us its still not enough

Eagles just released 6th round pick Antwaan Powell Ryland. Didn't like this pick when we made it. Was a ghost all summer.

Oh it was expect pettiness like this most of the season. Goodell is out to get us after he tried to play nfl tyrant and force owners into voting against the tush push. If this play was run by his buddy Robert Krafts patriots it wouldn’t be an issue. I having a feeling more teams will vote in our favor next offseason if brought up because the teams on the fence about it who leaned no on the vote seem to be tired of the issue and being forced to vote. Goodell only made GB bring it up because they don’t have a set owner as the fans own the team and knew he could get GB on board and fired up.

Roger also felt disrespected by Lurie after his passionate speech at the meetings

The Cowboys played zone coverage on 100% of Jalen Hurts dropbacks yesterday (!!!), explaining why everything was short.

He had a 56% success rate. That would've been QB1 last year, so hard to fault him for playing conservatively.
That’s pretty amazing. I almost kind of doubt it’s true- not calling you out, but where’d you get that stat that it was 100% zone?

One of my gripes with last night’s game was the paucity of decent replays, especially on big plays. It was really hard to tell Defensive alignments bang-bang with no replays.

This is where I read it. I have the benefit of watching the games through All-22 live. I actually don’t recall seeing them play man on most of the plays I went over.

*ETA*

NFL next gen stats had it at 100% zone in the first half. Also, when I search “Dallas zone” there’s a lot of people saying the same thing

I stand corrected

Still.cant believe carter didnt play a snap. Wtf
Yeah man I'm with ya, but w getting the win and getting ZERO sacks and all, I'm feeling pretty good and I think people are starting to already underrate the defense.

Sure, we lost some players

People are not factoring into the development of all the young(er) guys on defense and there are A LOT that "should" be better this year.

I feel the progression from these new guys should offset a lot of the losses:

JC98
Ojomo
Smith JR
Q
Coop
Hunt
Baun Maybe??
Reed

Not mention we have zero idea what Jihaad Campbell will look like by seasons end, but I liked a lot of what i saw from his last year

Now we add Z Smith to the mix....

So.... any corners on the market or a free agent?
To be fair to Adoree Jackson, Dallas did a great job getting Lamb on him 1-1, that's a matchup all but the very best CBs are gonna lose. I think Jackson had a bad night, but he's not a bad CB. Also didn't help that Dak had plenty of time to throw. I doubt there are better available CBs and I doubt Bennett or Ringo would be better.

Za'Darius Smith is the type of veteran pass rusher I wanted the Eagles to pick up. I'm glad they signed him, I think he can have a Josh Sweat type impact on the pass rush.
Turns 33 in 3 days

But he really had 9 total sacks just last year??

Correction, hopefully he has the same impact as 34 year old Brandon Graham did in 2022.
So we just replaced the 8 sacks lost via Josh Sweat going to AZ + 1

This defense needs some veteran leadership out there. They let it all go (or retired) in the offseason.

From what I'm reading he embraces the leadership role.

He's an edge setter and seems like a good guy.

6'4/270 so he's a real edge edge guy not a LB body type more like Nolan Smith

LFG!!!

Love this signing and that they acted quickly on it after last night's performance.

One other interesting tidbit . . .

Za'Darius Smith is a "vested veteran" which means he would have to have his full base salary guaranteed if he is on a roster for week 1. Because the Eagles and Cowboys played last night, they had the first shot at signing Smith without having to guarantee the full base. Howie made sure to get him signed before anyone else had a chance.

Damn didnt know that. Smart.

Justin Simmons probably won’t be doing this now then

Makes more sense now. What a d i c k move

Still doesn't make what Carter did acceptable.
Nope but we at least understand the reaction now
My question on this is why was Carter half way between the ball placement and the Dallas huddle ? Shouldn't he have been on the other side of the ball instead of taunting the rookie lineman of the cowboys ?

I swear i could see the nfl being like hey carter spit on dak and get suspended to make this game closer.

Eagles CBs in coverage vs. Dallas —

Adoree’ Jackson:
▫️7 targets
▫️5 catches
▫️103 yards allowed

Quinyon Mitchell:
▫️9 targets
▫️4 catches
▫️30 yards allowed

Cooper DeJean:
▫️3 targets
▫️1 catch
▫️0 yards allowed

Jakorian Bennett:
▫️3 targets
▫️3 catches
▫️20 yards allowed
One of these things is not like the other.

Other than not having Carter for the game, it went much as I thought it might. Boys always play us tough. First real game where players knock off rust. A bit sloppy at times. We got the W. Moving on. Not too concerned about Dickerson yet. It made sense that his back tightened up after the lightning delay. Stoudtland U. will adjust if necessary.

Let's go take down KC. Remind them who we are.

Can’t wait to read this thread when y’all are 2-3.
Next 4 games

@KC less Rice and Worthy

Home v Rams - Staffford is hurting already and I honestly have zero clue the last time the Rams beat the Eagles. Pretty sure McVay has never

@Tampa - bugaboo here we never beat them and AJ Brown is never available in these games

Home v Broncos - Vic Fangio vs Sean Payton - Sean Payton wanted Vic to stay in Denver as DC and we’ll, he didn’t

This will be a fun post to come back to bc the Eagles right now are favored in every single one of these games.
