We’re starting our 25th league year this year and as a way to celebrate we decided to travel to a game. Ended up landing on next week’s KC game. Flying out Saturday and there until Monday. Can’t wait, I’ve heard nothing but great things about KC fans/tailgating experience from other Birds fans that have gone in the past.
@ChiefD any good BBQ recommendations?
If I’m only going to hit one place, I would go to the original Arthur Bryants.
When you are getting in town and what part of town will you be in?
Flying in Saturday midday and staying ar Hotel indigo downtown. Apparently very far from Arrowhead?
Power & light district which looks to be a ways away.
Power and Light is close to there. A few blocks, so you could walk there easily.
As far as getting to the stadium:
1. If you decide to rent a car, this is the easiest way. You will be able to bring your own adult beverages (if you indulge) and have a home base so to speak. You will want to get there as soon as they open the gates to the parking lot. You will want to savor the whole day, because it truly is a spectacle.
2. As far as shuttles and such, I don’t know. Public transit in KC is not great, but I imagine there will be some spots where you can grab a bus or shuttle downtown. You will have to do some research there. You can also Uber - I just don’t know the situation around the stadium for that. If you do take a shuttle I would still get there early so you can soak in it. Just know, there are no bars or restaurants close to the stadium. If your group are nice people, KC folks will absolutely take you in. If you come in hot and start talking smack about the Super Bowl you will be in for a long day. I also think there are some larger tents and such closer to the stadium that sell food and beverages.
On a side note, if you guys are any kind of baseball fans, take an Uber over to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. It’s maybe a ten minute ride from your hotel and is well worth a few hours of your time. Plus, Arthur Bryants is right around the corner from there. The perfect KC two-fer.
