We have a John Cougar Mellencamp thread, but no Census thread?

At 50 this Monday, I've never actually filled out a Census Survey. Not gonna lie, didn't really know much about the survey itself, but understand what it accomplishes. I guess they do them every 10 years. I asked my wife and she said she thinks she has filled out one before.

That was way more information than I was expecting. Maybe it's me. Maybe it's today's culture, but giving anyone that information felt to personal. I understand what the survey accomplishes, so I completed it for my country. America!!! Ha ha

Any pro or against survey "get off my lawn" folks in here?

The Census is every 10 years and the next one is in 2030. What you submitted was probably the American Community Survey, which is a sample done every year. And, yes, it asks more questions.

“Sample” just means not everybody got it. The results of that survey are very heavily used.

So my Census journey this week.

I got the ACS a couple times.

One question was ancestry. Said I can pick up to 2 lineage. No way I can narrow it to to as I am a heinz 57 (varieties).

So it looks like you have been MIA for 50 years as far as the government is concerned. Just kidding. The real census is used to decide where and how much government spending goes. It is also used to decide how many congressional districts each state has. Not sure what else.
