2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (4 Viewers)

Bears defense suddenly looks playable.
I think I’m dropping Denver for them.

I’m 3-4 and in a tight matchup and can’t afford a loss. Chicago or Tampa Bay seem like much safer starts than hoping Denver does something crazy against Dallas.
I dropped Tampa and picked up Chicago once Lamar was ruled out. Slightly disappointed to see Huntley getting the start over Rush. But no Lamar nevertheless. Chicago has been a hot D.

Deciding if I want to do what I say I never do.

Start a bad defense against a really bad offense.

Cinci against the Jets looks so salivating with Breece, Wilson, Tyrod, you name it all banged up.
I'm about ready to do this...I mean that Cinci team overall has reason to be confident again and if EVER there was a spot for that defense to get right for at least a week...maybe they really sock it to em with a string of sacks and turnovers...

...on the other hand if it blows up in our faces we will feel mighty dumb.

I’m going with either Tampa or Chicago. Can’t decide am going against Rattler.

Because of byes and injuries, I simply cannot roster two DSTs. So I dropped ATL I had picked up for this week and just going to roll with the Broncos against a nightmare Dallas matchup. If the Broncos are as elite as everyone says they are, maybe they’re matchup proof? I guess I’ll find out.

After last week, I’m not sure they are. And other than LV, their upcoming schedule and playoff schedule is not that great.

I dropped them this week because I’m in a must win matchup and need a bit more upside with someone like Tampa or Chicago.

You got plenty of upside with Tampa!

I’m glad I held Denver though. After watching them have their way with Dallas, Houston and LV should be fun, before I drop them for the KC matchup and bye after. No sense holding them any longer than that unless Daniels still isn’t back for Washington week 13.

As a 7-1 team, it’s time for me to start hunting soon for a playoff DST.

Well, FWIW the perceived best SOS for playoffs for a lowly rostered D is the Saints.
Week 15 vs. CAR
Week 16 vs. NYJ
Week 17 @ TEN

Maybe we need a chart?
I noticed that nice Saints schedule. I spent a couple hours trying to convince myself why they would be worth picking up. I just couldn't convince myself. Ha ha

What the hell happened to the Falcons defense?
Falcons beat Bills: They’re elite!
Falcons lose to Niners: They’re only elite at home!
Falcons get blown out at home by Dolphins: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is a team that has now lost to Carolina and Miami by a combined score of 64-3. Not sure how you can start them with much confidence going forward

Absolutely moronic move. Lesson learned? I hope so.

Back to the waiver wire they go. A place they belonged in the first place. Streaming defenses is overrated most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. Especially streaming a questionable defense against bad teams. That seldom works out.

I only did it in one league. But, I lost by 3 in that same league.

I did it in two. Neither cost me the win but Gadzooks.

I disagree. I think starting Atlanta yesterday was good process, bad results. In general, I lean a little more toward quality of the defense over matchup, but you have to consider both. Heading into yesterday I thought I had a great matchup with a defense that has looked very good at times this year, including shutting down Buffalo in their most recent home game. It just didn't work out. No strategy bats 1.000

Still back to waiver wire. Other positions deserve more attention than having a defense stash.

The Chargers vs. Titans looks like a juicy matchup next weekend.
So did the Colts, but that got you 7 or 8 points. Not terrible, but just saying streaming defenses is overrated.
But what's the alternative? Investing a mid-round pick in an "elite" defense like ... Baltimore?

Like I said, no one bats 1.000. Sometimes you make the smart call and it doesn't work out. I do agree with you that I'm probably done with the Falcons for the foreseeable future

What the hell happened to the Falcons defense?
Second time I’ve used them this year and they might cost me for the second time. A self inflicted punch to the balls…
Seriously. This was one of the slam dunk matchups of the week. Half dead Miami, away, facing a top passing D, and Tua's throwing INTs left and right.

Of course not.

My only explanation is ATL just came out totally flat and not prepared to play yesterday.

I feel like that with GB. I've picked them up twice for what I thought were smash starts (I think it was Dallas and then Cinci). Withi them, it's not just a matter of down games (like vs Dallas). Even when they're good IRL they are nothing special in fantasy. I think their high for the year is 10pts, which they've only achieved once

I still roster GB in several leagues. Please tell me why?

Because you figure their fantasy performance will eventually regress positively toward their IRL performance?

Not sure I would have used “regress” and “ positively” together, but ok.
