2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (2 Viewers)

Chose Ten over NE this week. Looking like the wrong play so far. This NE defense is the best it's been since the 2000's teams.

I am starting Baltimore against Pittsburg, no probl.
oof.  Ravens fan here.  I hope that works out for you -- Still surprised at least Yahoo consistently has Ravens dee as a top projected scorer.  They just give up WAY too many big plays to ALL teams.  Hope they figure it out this week for ya-

Started ne in 3 leagues. I ruined three different people's night. They look elite and haven't scored under double digits in a while. No chance I drop them going forward.

Yeah, they allow the fewest points in the league by far. It's always a great feeling when you find your forever defense. Having an elite defense and starting the week with 30+ points is a massive advantage. Streaming was just the means to an end. High fives to all my Patriots bros.

Pats D 🥰

I just wish I had started them over those fugazi Steelers the last two weeks. Cost me two wins.

That late pick 6 and then interception combo with a minute and change left was a thing of beauty. An additional easy 10 points on that turn of events.

The only team that scares me on the Patriots schedule is BUF and they play them twice. You'd hope BB and the Pats can use Jacksonville's game as a blueprint and dominate them but division matchups are tricky. Plus there's still a bye so you still  need 2nd defense for that 😛

Only during their bye will I worry. Hell I won last week with browns scoring -2, maybe I just take a 0, lol. Joking.

Nice to go into Sunday with DST + K scoring 42 though no doubt.

For all my Pats D bros, if you pair them with Philly D you get the Jets in week 13 when Pats have the Bills, and Philly has a nice playoff schedule to boot. Only hitch is both Philly and NE have bye in week 14.

LAC could be the move too.

they get giants in Week 14(pats bye) then HOU in week 16(BUF)

Atlanta is a very bad offense without Patterson and Ridley.
Their offensive line was getting obliterated on almost every play.  In the rare event Ryan had time to throw, he was still rushed or uncomfortable = picks.  Tough to watch as a Pitts owner 🤒

Also the Philly D is not very good. They only just started to look better but it was against Det and Den. SD did not punt and had no QB pressures the whole game.

The Athletic's Greg Auman said Bucs DT Vita Vea is "very unlikely" to play in Week 11 against the Giants.

Following a Week 10 knee injury against Washington, Vea has yet to practice this week ahead of Tampa's Monday night home game against the Giants. The run-stuffing Vea would be a considerable loss for Tampa's defense. Saquon Barkley's Week 11 prospects would get a slight bump is Vea is sidelined Monday night.

Thanks. I always appreciate insight from fans of the team. Any thoughts if this more run-centric approach has helped the defense? I agree that those late season division games can always be dicey, but specifically looking at them for the Jets in week 13.

The run definitely helps them. Think of the Cowboys teams from about 3-4 years ago. They ran to keep their defense off the field to protect them. That's kind of how this is.

Bears placed Khalil Mack (foot) on season-ending injured reserve.

The Bears were hoping that rest would allow Mack to return to action this season, but the star pass rusher ultimately opted for surgery, ending his season. Mack's loss has been a significant downgrade to the Bears pas rush, and will hurt the Bears' chances of getting pressure on Lamar Jackson this week. Mack is under contract for three additional seasons with the Bears, so he will return in 2022. Although, he could be playing for a new coaching staff.

Defense failed when Bears needed it most ( November 18 )

Jackson presents difficult challenge for Bears defense

Bears' defensive decline follows rash of injuries

Hoge: Eddie Goldman starting to look like Eddie Goldman again

T.J. Watt (knee, hip) won't play in Week 11 against the Chargers.

Pittsburgh will also be without All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, veteran CB Joe Haden, and DE Isaiahh Loudermilk. Justin Herbert should be universally upgraded after his letdown performance as the overall QB16 in Week 10 against the Vikings.

The problem, and solution, for the Steelers run defense woes against the Lions

Projecting the Steelers starting defense vs the Chargers

Hey Insein, you're an Eagles fan, right? Looking from afar it seems like the Eagles D has done pretty well this year against weak offenses, but has been lit up by good ones. Would you at least trust them against weaker teams ROS? The schedule looks pretty good, unless the Wash/NYG offenses suddenly turn up (they might, so not disregarding that). But then there's also the danger of starting a D against a division opponent.

Not sure what to think about the Eagles D here, but I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. Am I standing on a ledge in your opinion, ROS schedule considered?

If the Defensive Coordinator truly turned a corner in his philosophy, I would trust them against the weaker teams.

In a must win game I have Dallas as my D right now but don't feel comfortable against KC.  I could pick up Wash, Jets, Raiders, Chargers, Vikings, or Packers.  Ugh

Does the injury report with 3 LB out affect the Titans’ projection as a top defense this week?

Titans: OG Nate Davis (concussion), LB Bud Dupree (abdomen), LB David Long Jr. (hamstring), RB Jeremy McNichols (concussion), LB Rashaan Evans (ankle), CB Greg Mabin (ankle), TE Geoff Swaim (concussion) OUT; CB Jackrabbit Jenkins (chest) QUESTIONABLE

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers are expected to activate Joey Bosa from the reserve/COVID-19 list and he should play in Week 11 against the Steelers.

Bosa was added to the list on Tuesday but he only joined as a close contact of a teammate who tested positive. This made it substantially easier for him to clear the protocols and make it back without missing a game. The elite defender has 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles on the year. His return will make things more difficult for Ben Roethlisberger and company on Sunday night.

Browns Defense: What They Have, What's Missing

Four ideas to get the Browns defense off the field on third down: Film Review

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms Tim Boyle will start the Lions' Week 11 game against the Browns.

This was the safe assumption when Jared Goff was listed as "doubtful" with his oblique injury, but Schefter is reporting it is official. 27-year-old Boyle will be on a doomed mission vs. the Browns' decent-ish pass defense with nary a receiver to throw to. With the Lions operating as embarrassing 12.5-point road underdogs, Boyle is going to be in position to commit two-plus turnovers and take who knows how many sacks. Fire up Cleveland's D/ST.

I grabbed CHI for next week.  I have to think even with Huntley, Balt will score.  Maybe that's me.
You might be correct but I am still assuming that Huntley will make some mistakes so I am playing them because my other options suck in 1 league. I look at them as a 2 week pickup.  I am so glad the Bears don't have to deal with Goff next Thursday

With the Lamar news thinking of swapping TBY with CHI now...

Think I'm pivoting to the CHI D over the PHI D (vs NO).

Just feels like BALT in general could be a hot mess today with Lamar and M. Brown out. Not sure how much focus Huntley has had on starting either and does he have chemistry with everyone.

CHI D not great, but their strength is the rush D (not pass D). Not sure Huntley can take advantage of pass D weakness.

Bears have a lot of key defenders out. Just a warning

Tough streaming week coming up: all the best options are bad teams playing each other where you could arguably go either way:

  • Chicago @ Det
  • Jets @ Hou
  • Atl @ Jax
  • Sea @ WFT
Also, GB vs LAR would normally be considered a stayaway, but if you think the last couple games for Stafford weren't a fluke, GB has been playing pretty well lately. I don't think I have the stomach for that, though.

As of right now, leaning Bears. Detroit is so bad, and they will be starting either Blake or a hobbled Goff
