2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (3 Viewers)

Jordan Schultz
The #Chiefs’ defense has quietly been a very stout unit showing real promise through the first three weeks, with contributions coming from all over the field. Opposite All-Pro Trent McDuffie, CB Jaylen Watson has stepped up — holding his own against some of the league’s best and helping solidify the secondary.

Watson’s journey makes it even more notable: a former 7th-round pick who once balanced JUCO ball with working at Wendy’s before landing at Washington State — he’s now a key part of the Kansas City defense.

The type of success story you love to see and one that deserves national recognition.

So pissed. My league says players go on waivers for 2 days. Purposely wait until Friday afternoon before dropping the Pats. My opponent got his waiver claim in at noon today and is starting them against me. Sleeper is full of ****.

I gave the Bills a few chances, but I’m officially out on them. If they can’t get it done against Miami or NO, then they have no chance of putting together good stat lines against the teams with a pulse that are coming up on the schedule.

Thank goodness for this thread; I will be panning for streaming gold with the rest of you.

just picked up Bills, going to add the Bears before week 7 to cover the bye and then maybe also for week 9 vs. Chiefs.

Is the JAX D legit? Their schedule is about to get a lot more difficult, but they have some decent matchups down the stretch.

Came here to post that exact question. Arizona (vs Tenn) is the obvious chalk play for next week, but my general philosophy is "good D with mediocre matchup" >>> "mediocre D with good matchup". Questions is whether the Jags are actually good.

Their next three are KC, Seattle and Rams, followed by a bye. I would rank Seattle as middle of the pack, Rams as somewhat negative (but not "avoid at all costs") and KC as ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. But if Jax is as good as they've looked so far, they would potentially be startable in all three.

Bills d is terrible
oh, dang.

who should i have picked up instead?
I made the same mistake. Even dropped Houston to get Buffalo because I figured I could start them next week vs NE, whereas there was no way I wanted to start Houston vs Baltimore. Now I don't trust Buffalo and Houston may get to face Cooper Rush.

In that league most of the obvious options are gone, so I probably will roll the dice with Jax and hope that they're this year's breakout DST

Well, at least now I won't have to try to carry the Packers DST through the Bye week.
Totally.

I almost started them too.

Just when you think you know something you realize you know nothing.
Unfortunately I did start them and due to their minus 5 points I lost by less than 1 point. Originally I was going to drop them but are they worth keeping for next week vs. bengals?

I'm dumping them. With the bye nobody will pick them up.

Week 5

Couldn't get the Cards vs Ten and Pitt on a bye.

Dropped Houston for Indy at home vs Geno

Don't trust NO against thre hopped up Giants

So currently I'm

Indy vs LV
Houston @ Baltimore (eeesh)
Miami @ Carolina

Giants on the road at NO?

Glad I’m not the only one dropping packers. After starting Steelers first two games and packers last two I feel like biggest dumbass. Can’t seem to pick the right defenses this year.

Feels like I’m full on streaming mode now.

Rams - they have decent schedule for next 3 games and the only starter playing for 49ers is mccaffrey.
Seattle - holding till they let me down. Decent schedule next two games if baker doesn’t eat them alive.

Saints - don’t like it but no choice. deep benches means every team has 2 defenses. Considered jaguars as they are number 2 in my league but scared of chiefs.

Edit: scrollled up and changed my mind. I hate the chiefs and nothing would make me happier if the jags shut them down and I can roll with them the whole year.

We run nightly waivers. I was surprised when no one grabbed the Rams last night. I had them queued up as a second defense behind the Broncos for one week, but had Woody Marks prioritized above them and got him.

I guess I can rest easy today knowing that I don’t have them going against me. Have them going in a few leagues which mean they’ll probably poop the bed.

I couldn't bring myself to give up on the Packers D yet. They have the Bengals next week and Ari, Pitt, and Car to follow.

Defenses score high in this league for Pts and Yds allowed. I can see dropping them in sack/ turnover focused scoring.

I'm hoping that after the Cowboys debacle and during this bye week, the D coordinator has a come to jebus moment. They have been overly reliant on rushing four with a drop zone. Increased blitz utilization and creativity would be huge.

These are both on the WW at the moment due to Bye weeks. Who do you like better ROS?

Packers - next 4 are vs Bengals, @ Cardinals, @ Steelers, vs. Panthers
Steelers - next 4 are vs. Browns, @ Bengals, vs Packers, vs Colts

GB.

Not a believer in the PIT D. NE basically handed them turnovers and they faced a MN offense with Wentz last week.

Think GB ran into a hot Dak buzzsaw last week.

After tonight - I think we can surmise that you should be careful streaming against a good coach or good QB.

I ain't streaming against Mahommes, Allen or Shanahan ever.

This weekend -

Stream against Carroll (LV) or the wrong Harbough (BAL vs HOU) with a backup QB and a hammered D?

Geno will throw it -Rush will eat it
?
