How did New England allow the Jets to come back in the 2nd half?

Allow them? It wasn't like New England was blowing the out - it was a 4 point game at halftime and both teams seemed evenly matched. In the second half the Jets defense disrupted Brady's rythm with a fierce pass rush and mixed coverages. Offensively the Jets operated pretty much the same in the second half as they did in the first half, but perhaps executed a little better.New Engalnd has a very young defense (especially the secondary) and are still a work in progress. Bottom lin is things change quickly in teh NFL. The Jets O was not nearly as bad as they looked in Week 1 and the Pats D was not nearly as good as it looked in Week 1.

Why does Joe Flacco suddenly look like a rookie? Because the Jets and Bengals have very good defenses. He'll look much better next week, then even worse the following week (Pitt has the best D in the NFL right now, head and shoulders above everybody but the Jets and that's only with a healthy Revis).

Is San Diego as good at stopping the pass as their numbers would indicate? Their pass D has sucked for the last couple years. They played KC in a monsoon and the ineffective Jags. I think they are still a bottom 10 pass D.

Can Oakland still make a run at 8 wins with Bruce Gradkowski leading the way? Not unless they trade for 2 or 3 pro bowl O linemen.

Kansas City is now 2-0, how is this possible with such an inept offense right now? The weather vs SD was the equalizer they needed in that game. The Browns can make anybody look good, and the KC defense is tougher than people give them credit for.

How can Andy Reid not play Vick right now? I think Kolb has one or two games (maybe not even that much) to come out of his funk and prove that he's at least close in talent. I don't think that he is, and Vick will be back in the starting lineup soon. Kolb should look good vs Jags, and OK vs Skins, but following those games are the 9ers, Falcons and Titans and all 3 can get a pass rush on and cover well. Vick becomes a permanent starter in weeks 5-7 IMO.

Can Chicago continue to win without establishing the run? They should have lost to the Lions. The Boys can beat themselves right now. Let's see what happens when they play a real team as the Packers visit next week.

Credit to the Jets here especially the D. Cromartie had a very good 2nd half - that was his first decent half of the season. he played Moss very well I thought. Pats D really isnt that good either.

Getting pressure on Brady seems key to stopping the Pats - seemed like the Jets were pressurising him more in 2nd half.

Only saw the game v the Jets and thought he did well there against what we all know is a very good D. Didnt see the Bengals game but they seem to have Baltimore's number of late. Flacco has produced the goods late in season - 3 road play off wins already so I'm not writing him off.

Lives or dies with Kolb now. Kolb has no chance though behind a line that cant protect him. Vick is ideal behind that line.

Martz will keep the Offense good. Made some good adjustments early on as it looked like Cutler was going to get killed but he ended up taking just 1 sack.

Listened to quite a lot of commentary about Vince Young this weekend, both before and after the game. I think Michael Lombardi probably had the best take on it. He said that Pittsburgh was shutting down the run and Fisher knew the only way they were going to win the game was to pass the ball down the field, and so he brought in the QB that he thought could do that.I'm not sure from a long term standpoint that it was a good idea if Fisher wants VY to be his starting QB... but from a standpoint of trying to win this one game I don't think I can make a good argument it wasn't the wrong move. Not given how VY played versus how Collins played in the same game.And I also wonder if that sheds some light into Fisher's view of Young... that maybe he doesn't want Young as his starting QB, but it isn't his decision.

generic and vegasinsiderI don't know if they are up to the minute. The line looks like it opened as a PK EM in Vegas and quickly went to -3 at most of the casinos. Maybe the line will move a lot more before Sunday, hopefully up more.

Tampa Bay as a home dog +3 looks interesting.

Atlanta as a road dog +4.5 might have some legs.

San Fran -2 against a very suspect KC team...that could get ugly.

Daniels is hurting and Andre got hurt last game and so (to a degree) they still even have two weapons to add to that offense.Jax and Philly look out of sorts. The answer is they are not that good and will finish 3rd in their division. I am an armchair qb which is the best kind to be.

7-1 We already discussed that number already. Young was a big part of that 7 and Fisher, as coach, was trying to win a football game. He has been at this long enough to know what he is doing, I will let him make that call ( sits back in his arm chair).

Kansas City and Jacksonville. Matt Cassel and David Garrard/Luke McCown. Wait and see what happens when they start playing teams with good QB's/passing attacks. The jury is still out on this one.

They beat SD on a few big plays when the defense broke down (and it was week 1) and in week 2 they won the "which team sucks the least"bowl. Smoke and mirrors my firend. ( that and decent defense/special teams play).

Did you look at the schedule before asking this? They are 0-2 already. They have road games at Houston,Minn, GB,NYG,Indy,and Philly. They have home games vs Tenn,NYG,NO,Philly and a Washington team that has already beaten them once. Those are the tough ones. That is a horribly difficult schedule. Can they go 8-6 the rest of the way? Even if you give them the other 3 games that I think are pretty sure wins (like the Chicago game was) I have a hard time finding 5 more wins in those games. Can they win 8? sure but i wouldn't count on it. Can they make the playoffs? not unless 8-8 somehow gets them in.

How can Andy Reid not play Vick right now?

Because he is the backup qb. It is not like Kolb is some first year rookie here. Reid knows what he has in Kolb and was willing to let a very good qb walk to give him the job. Again likr Fisher, Reid has coached well enough for a number of years to know what he has in his 2 qb's.So Kolb gets injured and Vick has 1 very good game. So what. Yes Vick is exciting to watch but he wasn't THAT great a qb when he was in his prime. Start Vick now and he sucks then what? Reid had a plan to start the year. Kolb is the starting qb and that is how it should be until he shows he cannot handle the job. The sample size is much too small to say that yet.

I do not look for them to. I think we find out the Bears are who we thought they were starting this week.

Yes they can. Will they is the question. I am not a huge Grant fan and think he is just one in a long line of nothing special running backs in the Green Bay system. ITSS. (it's the system stupid).

NE game planned against Revis. Wilson did a good job on Welker. The NE DB's are not very good. The cover 2 defense is not effective against a good TE.

Exactly why Wade is the coach. Was talked about last night on the radio that he puts up with Jerry so he likely will not be fired till the end of the season. Yes, I've noticed this for a couple of years now. O-line took the blame for a while, lack of weapons took the blame for a while, recovering from injuries took the blame for a while, but through all of this the one constant is - Palmer is missing on too many throws.It's not just down field. Any bit of pressure, and you can almost hear the sirens going off in his head and the throw is rushed and off target. He can still make the occasional "magic" throw to keep the "legend" alive, but more often than not it seems the throws that a franchise QB should make on a routine basis are missed.
