The compromise (on pricing) that Joe and I have made is that we continue to offer the early-bird at a reduced rate and have sold three-year memberships the last two years at a discount for a limited time too. We feel by doing this our most loyal people can get our best prices.
So people who show up early and eat up forum bandwidwidth in June are "loyal," while those of us who show up Aug. 1 -- but have subscribed for years -- are not?

seems to me you should show up earlier.

As post No. 1 points out, I'm married now. Priorities and responsibilities change. Whatever, though. This thread has helped me make my decision.

how hard is it to go to a website, purchase a subscription, and then return two months later?it takes 5 minutes of your time, less than you have spent #####ing about it in this thread.

He's married now .... he can't do that!

get a better paying job or work two jobs..if 27 bucks is gonna hurt you then you are in trouble...if you only play for $30 bucks why would you even want to pay for a service? This is a very weird post here.
The grand prize isn't $30 if your entry fee is $30. Speaking of weird posts. Also, I would venture that many FBG's subscribers play in free leagues. For some people, it's not about money. It's about winning. Period.
I agree with you.It gets old people telling you how much money is not much money. Believe it or not some people actually have a hard time paying rent, utilities, clothes and buying food.
If this is true you should not be wasting time posting on the FBG's message board. To those of you who have a hard time paying the $27 ... You should have went to college!!

$27 is less than $1 per week when you include preseason and playoffs, and ignoring the summer.that's not a lot of money unless you live in a village in Botswana.
You can feed a family of 4 for 55 cents a day.Any reason you're not doing that?

HUH? I've been married over 10 years. Fantasy Football is my hobby and I visit this site and others on nearly a daily basis during the off-season. My hobby is this, my wife has her hobbies. She knows not to bother me on Sunday's while I watch football. Of course she likes football too and watches with me most weeks. In any case you know that early bird discounts are available, not hard to put a reminder on your calender say at the NFL Draft or for mid May and check the web sites you want to get for discounts. Wouldn't take you 5 minutes.

I'll pay you $1 a month to control what it says under your avatar. You'll have the $7 back in time to catch the early bird special next year.

Sound fair?

Hey, chill....if he keeps whining like this, maybe the staff will cut him a break for missing out on the discount....then I too will have an excuse to whine! :bag:

Heh-heh. Nope. I wouldn't take a break at this point, even though FBG's is a nice site. The pile-on from the apologists, let alone the price, has made me want to steer clear for the first year since I can remember. :bag: I'm outta here and off to do some free FF research, but feel free to keep bashing away.

I wish I had $27 from every sucker member that paid to subscribe, since it is not such a great deal of money, you might as well just give it to me for nothing in return, correct?

I can't find the thread, tried to search...but....

I ordered my FBG's Magazine and my papal account had the wrong address. I did not recieve my Magazine and was upset....but it was only $8. I mentioned something in that thread and Dodds personally said that he would get it too me. I think they may have just shipped me a new one because one week later I recieved my FBG's Magazine. I know it was only $8 but it meant a lot to me that he would go out of his way to help ONE single person even though Im sure they sell tons of magazines and I could have easily been ignored. For this action alone I will stay with footballguys for as long as they are putting out FF information. In addition to the GREAT customer service I get direct interaction with the staff (They answer anyone who questions their thinking), great articles, and very up to date information. I feel like paying $27 is also a way of me thanking them for all the free stuff that they do put out. When TURDS question the $27 (like its too much)it makes me feel sorry for them because they JUST DON'T GET IT! (Im not saying you are a TURD if you do not buy the subscriber content)

If you have never paid for this content I think you should give it a try. You will be hooked ..... it will only enhance your FF experience throughout the season. Thats why Im back.

Just as an FYI, the PAID content, will not pile-on you. However, here on the FREE message boards, well, that's a different matter altogether.Seems to me if the pile-on is what's making you want to steer clear, it's the free message boards you want to steer clear of, not the paid content.

I think it went up 1 dollar from last year? If $27 dollars is to much then I'm rich. The time that everybody has spent on this thread, you could have cut your neighbors yard for that $27. FBG's put a lot of time in for all the information and tools that we read and use. I think it is well worth the price. The DD is worth the $27 to me. You get to go in and OWN your draft while your other league-mates wonder how. I won't tell them about FBG's. :lmao:

I am also considering not renewing my subscription. Yes I have less money than last year but it has nothing to do with that.

I don't read the articles.

Last year at my 2 live drafts 4 and 6 members of the league showed up with the Draft Dominator. What fun is that? Sure I went outside of it but the drafts were so predictable. Very stale. I want to be ahead of the curve. FBGs has been that for awhile but I think others are catching up. Where is the website that has passed them in projecting?

I will still probably subscribe but I used to do it out of loyality for the message boards. Now I would pay for private boards. Too much trash info and trash talk now.

If you did, you should get a refund on the English 101 class.

Yes, Scientist has established that he is not exactly Einstein. (On a side note, I have no idea why he felt it necessary to insinuate that questioning the price makes someone a "turd," either.)

Anyway, look, I'm sorry this turned into what it did. Yes, I graduated from college. Yes, my wife graduated from college. Yes, we make good money. Yes, I have 27 bucks. No, I won't be subscribing this year. .

Good luck to everyone in your respective drafts, OK?

$27 isn't a big deal.

When they start charging $5000 for 3 day fantasy football bootcamps and show you how to make MILLIONS in fantasy football by placing tiny classified ads in your spare time is when you should complain.

Done doing all that free FF research and back already?

Every year I look at some of the other pay sites, I used a few before I came here. One I use for baseball drafts. $27 is pretty much in line with what the other sites are charging. I had a pretty crappy year last year using the VBD so I thought about switching to another service. When it all shook out, I came back because of all of the information the FBG's make available. I usually have enough time to out research many of my opponents. That only works if you have the information available. For me, this is the place.

Good Luck

I was behind you in line at the McDonalds at 5th and Main. You owe me $5.00 for having to stand behind you for 20 mins while you argued with that 16 year old girl behind the counter about the 20 cent surcharge for extra cheese. I'm sure you had a point then and a point now, but it's a lot simpler saying no thanks and walking away than to make a big production about it. As for myself, I think I already got enough value for my money, and the camps haven't even started yet. I'm not sure if you posted here to beg for a lower price or lobby others to agree with you or to have somebody else talk you into why the purchase is a value. I'm a grown-up, so I don't look to others to help me make my decisions, but I'll put it into perspective for you. If I gave you a free ticket to watch your favorite NFL game, you'd still pay more than that to park, and have a hot dog and a beer and 3 hours later would have nothing to show for it. Most of the content you get here will last a lifetime. Up to you though. Also thanks for reminding me why I decided against the career path of becoming a customer service representative, for that you can keep the 5 bucks this time. :hophead:

That's fine, but no need to be a #### to someone. If you're such a fan of the site you can at least follow Joe's rules.

In summary: If you can't afford $27 you're an uneducated moron who should get another job and quit wasting your time on anything resembling entertainment. :hifive:

That is sarcasm, by the way. I can't stand elitist ***holes. You know who you are. And before you comment, I do quite well for myself, thanks.

It's hard for me to believe that someone who has made 2780 posts in 4 seasons, about 150 per month (or 5 per day) during the season, isn't somehow getting his $27 worth of time and entertainment on this site. It's equally hard to believe the extra $6 you have to pay for missing the early deadline is enough to make it seem overpriced (for those few hundred hours) If you have ever gone out to eat with your wife - even for lunch - then you have spent $27 for only 1 hour of enjoyment.
Assuming lunch with the wife is enjoyable :hifive:
