2nd and 3rd round targets (1 Viewer)

Rounders

Footballguy
I have always been more interested in these 2 rounds from a fantasy perspective as I believe these two rounds are crucial to get productivity from. I know you want good players every round, but to me these are the players that can make or break your season. With that said, I would be curious to hear my fellow FBGers are targeting in these rounds and why?

Fire away.

10 team PPR, 5th pick

2nd - J. Charles (think he picks up where he left off)

3rd - B. Marshall (100 catches again?)

Romo. If he's not there it will depend on where I draft from. Picks 1-6, I'd likely take a WR as I would have taken a RB in the first. Picks 7-12, I'd probably take a RB, because I would have taken a WR in the first.

All pretty flexible, though.

I agree that they are crucial rounds to get productivity from. I think Mathews may have a good year. I like Jennings to bounce back from an off year last year. Marshall may not get 100 receptions again but you could do worse. I think these pics are more important to not miss on than they are to knock out of the park.

2nd - 4th round prospects

WR - Calvin, Jennings, Marshall

RB - Matthews, mendenhall, charles

Secretely hoping people let mendenhall fall because of the offseason changes.

No offense but why would you pick a rookie RB in the 2nd or 3rd round? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Give me Roddy over Marshall.
Kinda funny...this will be the 3rd straight year I've kept Turner so I've never had the balls to grab Roddy since then. They both get theirs, perhaps I should be considering it this year...
I like Marshall but if push comes to show and both are on the board, I feel like I have to go with Roddy.
The QB/more proven, stable offense at this points tilts in favor of Roddy IMO, although I like them both a lot.

I really like White this year, I think that Falcons offense really kicks it up this year and they start letting Ryan throw a little more. He really seemed to click with White in a few games last year and it was simply a pitch and catch between the two.

In nonPPR redraft,

2nd Round I hope to get:

Grant, Shonn Greene, Miles Austin, Randy Moss

3rd Round I hope to get:

Romo, Pierre Thomas, Jamaal Charles, Mathews, Roddy, Jennings, Sidney Rice

Really love Romo in round 3. It would surprise me at all if he was the #1 QB this season. If I missed on Romo, or the big 3, I probably won't take a QB before round 8.

At RB, If I don't get one of the big 4, I kind of like Jackson and Charles, but I wouldn't take either in round 1. I think there is a lot of value in round 3 and beyond with guys like Stewart, Beanie, Best and Thomas.

At WR, I love Calvin Johnson, I'd take him as high as the end of round 1, but I can see him being there in round 3 in many drafts. Smith South is also a guy I'd be thrilled to own, especially as a WR2. In return yardage league, I'd take Percy Harvin in round 3 and feel like I stole him completely. In standard leagues, I'd probably still take him in round 4.

Romo will probably go in round 2 of my draft because of all the hype. Too rich for my blood.I'll have to pass.I like your assertion about Harvin and agree in return yardage leagues round 3 is a good spot to grab him.Smith it depends who's on the board but I like Smith North better in PPR. Calvin I fon't know what to do with this guy. I still like Roddy over him because of the stability of the offense he's in. On the other hand the Lions should be throwing the rock every game in catch up mode like they do every year right?

In a 12 man .5 PPR, I'd probably shoot for Roddy or Marshall in 2nd and Beanie or J. Charles in the 3rd. I doubt Romo makes it to the 3rd, but if he's there, it's a great pick.

I agree 100%. But I find it interesting that you find it "crucial" (as do I), yet you're willing to stake your season on a rookie. I like Jennings a lot though

Love this list! Except for Mathhews....and I'm watchin Favre like a hawk before I go with Rice. Might just stay away from him altogether unless he's there in the late 3rd, early 4th.

Matthews hardly qualifies as your average rookie. He's basically the second coming of LT. He'll get at least 250 carries, almost all of the goal line work(Sporles won't get it done there), and in the Chargers offense, the RB is always dangerous. Hell, LT still managed to score 12 TD's last season. Imagine that kind of scoring production, plus a YPC monumentally better than LT's 3.3 in 2009. Matthews is worth a 3rd round pick if you got your stud Rb in round one, and an elite WR in round 2. I'd even go round 2 if you snagged a WR or QB in the 1st round

Easy Tiger. He is still a rookie and more times then not that flame out in their rookie season. Not saying he will not be good but you are putting you team at an adverse risk by taking him in the 2nd or 3rd round. You have no idea how he will perform.

That is true of every single player. We like to kid ourselves in the off season that we think we know how certain players will perform, but it is all guesswork. Everyone has different criteria that we use to make our guesses, and you seem to believe "ROOKIE" is a very important one, and that it, apparently, outweighs "OPPORTUNITY". That is fine, but others do not necessarily agree with this. Just don't kid yourself that you, or anyone else, truly has any idea how he will actually perform. Unless you can see the future. And if that's the case, I want to buy you a beer and talk about some business opportunities :goodposting:

Lots of love for Roddy and Marshall.

Outside of Romo, anyone targetting a 2nd round QB?

Also what 3rd round RBs are you all trying to land?
