since Edgy ran away with the last poll here's a sequel

I'm going to go ahead and say Cadillac.

There's just way too much that can go wrong there. Caddy can get injured (which he did last year shouldering that load), he won't get the goalline carries, he is on a relatively bad team, and he had a pretty large workload last year.

A lot of people are going to say Peyton...and while he probably won't be a first round value in 4 point TD leagues, he's a consistent mid 2nd round to early 3rd round value. He shouldn't be a first rounder, but he's not the worst value here.

I'll go with Portis barely edging Caddy. Injury, Schedule, Vultured TD's, fragility leading to series off in favor of Duckett/Betts, unsettling QB situation (I think Wash is in for a long year with Brunell at the helm) Too many issues for me at the 11th pick. 15 or 16 maybe.

And the consensus is dead wrong. Peyton should be a top 10 pick even in 3 point TD leagues. Edge is gone, Colts score fewer rushing TD's, Manning throws for more TDs. Also, Edge is gone, Colts can't play ball control, Manning throws more. Defense will not play as well as last year. Manning plays full game, throws more yards and TDs. New runningbacks are better screen options, Manning throw more yards to backs. It will be 2004 all over again for Manning. The only guy who will be within 50 points of Manning will be Palmer. Once the stud RB's are gone, Manning is the man to pick.

1. Portis due to injury possibilities

2. Caddy due to GL vulturing and being passed up for Pittman on passing downs

3. Jordan due to possibility of complete suckitude of Raiders team and far fewer targets in passing game

Keys.Didn't tampa win the division last year? Relatively bad???
Yes, and yes. Remember, TB looked very mediocre last year when faced with real competition. Their wins against ATL and WAS were very close, their losses were blowouts.Take that, and add it to the fact that Carolina could very well be the best team in the NFL this season, NO is actually improved, and Atlanta should bounce back, and I'm not seeing good things for the Bucs this year.

Why is it no one thinks Willie Parker is a late first round pick? I would take Parker over Williams and perhaps even Portis.

reposted from the first thread...

Unless you're in a league with brain-damaged guppies who leave LT, LJ, or Alexander on the board, any player drafted 4th overall is just about automatically the worst 1st round value.

Barber? Rudi? Ronnie? Edgerrin? Jackson? Jordan? There's just not that much difference between them. Having to choose one of these guys at 1.04 is the proverbial rock and hard place.

Edge is gone, defenses sit back to play against the pass, Manning ties Brett Farve for NFL lead in interceptions.

Will Steven Davis be a TD vulture?

Rams | Team reaches contract agreement with S. Davis

Fri, 1 Sep 2006 10:51:47 -0700

Jason Cole, of Yahoo Sports, reports the St. Louis Rams have reached a one-year contract agreement with free agent RB Stephen Davis (Panthers). The deal is expected to be finalized late Friday, Sept. 1, following Davis' arrival in St. Louis. The deal is expected to be worth $850,000, the veteran's minimum for a player of his tenure (10 years), with a maximum allowable signing bonus of $40,000. The key to the deal is that the Rams are apparently willing to guarantee half of the base salary, even if he is injured.

Um....no. Jackson is the beast who will carry that burden.
