10 team ppr. Rookie draft this weekend. QBs :Goff and Burrow. RBs: Taylor, Montgomery, Hubbard and R. Stevenson. WRs: Amon Ra St. Brown, K. Allen, D. Johnson,B. Cooks, C.Watson, Daubs, M. Mimms and D. Douglass.
TE: La Porta and Tyson Hill.
3 and 9 picks in in 1st. RBs are hard to get. 1st two picks should be Harrison and Odunze in this league. Thinking Nabors at 3 but qb situation kinda stinks. Trade down and take a rb?

First off you need to make a combined draft board so you have an idea of your values and who you should take at each spot. If you aren't enamored with Nabors (or anybody else at #3)and have a larger tier of 3 to X then looking to move back is the thing to do. See if you can move back to the end of that tier to ensure you get someone in that tier and some extra value for the trade back.

Don't force positions. Draft the BPA when you are up. The point is to find a fantasy starter for multiple years. The best chance you have at that is taking the best player available. It doesn't do you any good to draft a lesser player because you "need" that position. He is more likely to bust and then you got nothing out of that pick.

I assume you probably had your draft but I would have assumed Nabors would be 2nd. I would stay at 3 probably and take the best WR that was still there. Because you never mentioned that it was SF I assume its 1QB. If so don't take a QB, just hit the best WR/RB available when it comes up. Should be a decent WR left for you at 9. Your WR room could use work too and it is never a bad thing to stock up on young talent at WR.

If Caleb is there at 9 he might interest me as a longer term hit at QB but if it is 1QB Burrow and Goff should be decent. The other QB option is Daniels but not sure where he is going in 1 QB. He's the only other one who could be worth starting in a 10 man league.

You need studs in a 10-man and Nabors or Odunze could give you that at 3.

I did take Odunze at #3. Worthy, Johnson jr., Bowers went #8. I took Benson at #9. Rb depth is hard to build in this league. I’m happy with my 1st rounders. Took Roman Wilson and Wicks in 3rd round.

Benson will be starting next year if not by the end of year. Conner has only 1 1000 yard season and misses time. I’m comfortable at 9

It's all about what else was available. If you think Benson was the best overall player at that spot then it's the right choice. If you took him because he was the best RB available while still having other players at other positions that you rank higher.....then it wasn't the right choice.

You didn't list who was still available so I don't know if it was the pick I would have taken.

Corum and Johnson jr.(Don’t like Jax),Daniels available (Not a need),Keon Coleman available (toss up). Felt comfortable taking Benson. And Benson is good trade bait in this league. Many offers so far. Waiting on preseason.

This is kind of my point. Don't draft based on need at all. A rookie draft should be based on BPA. The player you believe has the best shot to be a multi year FF starter regardless of position. Drafting a lesser player because of need lessens the chance that you find a guy that will hit and then he does you no good. Not saying Benson will be that way but conceptually that is the process I prefer. Combining a draft board racking/stacking all positions based on the probability they become a multi year FF starter. Then just follow my list regardless of position. Position/roster only comes into play if multiple players are truly identical in my rankings being on the same tier.

Of those guys you listed I would have Thomas (assuming you mean Brian Thomas and not Johnson jr) ahead of everyone else. I am not a Coleman guy but I like McConkey and Pearsall quite a bit (assuming they were both available as well). But if you had Benson above all those guys on your draft board then great.
