36% of white, college educated, democrat women think men get pregnant. (1 Viewer)

I feel like polls like this are designed solely for the purpose of inflaming people.

Biological men can't get pregnant. A subset of people who identify with a male gender identity can get pregnant as they're biological women who have not transitioned biologically. I don't think anyone is confused about that. So, this poll is designed to play off semantic differences and not accuracy.

How about the statement “some trans men can get pregnant.” Agree or disagree?

That was not the question. Trans men are not a subset of men. There is nothing positive that is coming from confusing basic biology. It is very telling that gender and genitals both origin from the root word 'gene' which mea s to bring forth and have to do with how we reproduce.

We need to stop conflating what gender means, it is very dangerous. It is dangerous to women in prison, it is dangerous to women in private spaces, it harms women athletes, and it endangers medical treatment because it confuses their basic biology which could lead to mistreatment and make medical research confusing. Differences between the sexes matter and it is not helping anyone to pretend it doesn't.

A transgender man is not actually a man at all. I'm not sure why there's confusion here. Just call them a woman because that is what they are.

The idea is to confuse people enough that they just give up and suddenly believe that men can get pregnant. They can't. They never will be able to. This fake term transgender man is nothing more than a biological woman.

According to the article, it was “36% of white, college-educated female Democrats”. I would have guessed it would be higher than 36%.

You can't possibly believe this.
I don't believe men can get pregnant. Do you?
This is an easy question to answer depending on the definition of “men”. Using the traditional definition you are using, the answer is no. If one uses a newer definition which includes all those who identify as men, the answer is yes.

But you already know this.

No, but that's not what I was referring to. I was referring to the following, which you wrote:

Do you believe the above? If so can you please explain.

Why did you use the term “trans men” in your response? Is that not confusing basic biology?

My friend is a trans woman. She looks like a woman, has breasts and a vagina. No one who meets her thinks she’s a man, or ever was a man. If asked whether she is a woman or a man, my response will be that she is a woman. If asked if she is biologically a woman, my answer would be no.

Going back to the survey question, if it were:

Some trans men can get pregnant. Agree.

Some biological men can get pregnant. Disagree.

Some men can get pregnant. Agree (on the assumption (mine) that trans men are being included).

Put another way, this isn’t some shocking or unexpected poll result. It’s simply a recognition that some people consider trans women to be women and trans men to be men from a language standpoint even though we readily understand the biological distinctions. Those poll numbers will go up in future years. And it won’t be because people are confused into thinking that biological men can get pregnant.

There is no "newer" definition of men. There's only one definition.

Sorry, BB, normally I agree with a lot of your posts but I just can't get on board with "some men can get pregnant". They can't. A "Trans Man" is a biological woman. That is fact and science. "Trans Man" is an absurd term to try and blur the definition between man (and woman for the opposite), all in an effort to fool people into thinking that we just really don't know what a "man" or "woman" is.

It's an attempt to cater to a reality that doesn't exist.

This is where I am at as well. If you sit down and talk to people, I believe that you would get to a point where we all agree on the basics. I don't believe people answering yes to this question literally believe that a person born as male can get pregnant. I also get why the other side would hammer the "follow the science" angle to make it look like that's what people are saying.

Great post, BB. Worded my thoughts better than I did. Like you are saying these polls aren't identifying people who believe a person born without a uterus can get pregnant, it's identifying people would include trans men in the equation when answering the question.

Republicans love their culture wars. Wow.
It’s their entire active platform. No policy - just Trans people taking over girls’ sports while teaching CRT in woke classrooms and they’re going to save us from it.

it is a reaction to the dems "entire active platform"...in the words of the great John Rambo..."they drew first blood, not me"

Exactly. They push this nonsense into people's faces and when those people react they get all indignant with, "OMG!!! Why are you making such a big deal about this!".

Also, just note that the same people pushing this garbage are the same people demanding you "follow the science" in the Climate Change thread.

Some people worry way too much about the lives of other people.

This guy gets it:

I also didn't start a thread about it either.

True, but this thread wouldn't have been posted if, y'know, "the left" wouldn't be pushing this garbage in people's faces, trying to change language norms and ignoring science.

I don't think you do get it, because you keep going back to that last part. To me you having a point about the same people and science if they answer yes to a question like: can a human born male get pregnant? For many people now, like BB is saying, the question reads like can a human living as a man and presenting as a man get pregnant? Something like that - so not a denial of science, but a different set of social definitions and starting POV as you.

The bolded is why this is a problem. It's an absurd premise to begin with. Why not just say, "Can a woman get pregnant"? That answer is a resounding, fact-based "YES!".

The point with your crowd is you're trying to confuse people by design. They aren't "living as a man" because, y'know, they are a biological woman. They have no idea what it is like to live like a man because they are not a man no matter how hard your side tries to blur the lines.

I don’t get it. It seems like they are willfully ignoring the point the other side is making. It doesn’t seem to be in good faith.

Just pointing out that your characterization of science denial is not accurate. Your point about language norms stands though, I get your beefs on that front.

I meant I get it in the sense that I get why the sides would try to paint the other team in the worst light they can. Going to the science denying is a good way to do it, but yes - I agree with what you are saying. People saying that are either purposely doing it to make the other team look bad, or not actually listening to what they are trying to say.

There have been a lot of threads on this subject and they all seem to have the same divide: liberals tend to be accepting of trans men and women and regard them as whatever sex they have now chosen to be. Conservatives tend to believe that trans is a form of mental illness and that someone who begins life as a man will always be a man, and same for a woman.

Whereas our generation is pretty split down the middle on this, our children are not. College students and younger are by a significant majority accepting of trans, and this appears to grow every year. In other words, woke is winning and is somewhat inevitable. In 10 years, maybe less, this won’t be much of an issue.

biology matters and is, in the vast, vast majority of cases, deterministic as to what sex people are.

Your definition of the difference is slanted and dishonest.

Who is they? A person is not garbage man. Listen to how awful you sound. Do you not think a trans person is any more than human garbage? Why? We are all just people man. Why do you get so upset by another man or woman just being themself?

If you say trans man it is explicitly known it is a biological woman presenting as a man. There is no ambiguity. They are not a man or male, they are a biological female. With the current non-sense we have doctors having to ask men if they are pregnant. That has to stop. Not only for the silly inconvenience but to protect women in their safe spaces and to give women the right to compete on equal grounds with their competitor.

Good lord, he said nothing about the person being garbage. So stop twisting things. The gender ideology is total garbage. Even real feminists will tell you so unless they are in fear of being cancelled.

He didn't call any person garbage. Why the need to twist words around?

100% biological fact

men cannot get pregnant
Do you not see that this is a semantics issue?
Biological men cannot get pregnant and literally no one will say otherwise.
People who's gender identity is male potentially can get pregnant, if they are a biological female who has not transitioned biologically.

The problem is what "men" means. Some people think of it in the biological sense, some people think of it in terms of gender identity. These are literally two different things.
